This apartment is right next door to the other apartment and is almost identical apart from the beds offered.
Flat 7 has a king-size bed with white Rococco headboard in bedroom 1, and a double bed in the second bedroom.
It is also possible to book a folding bed (extra cost) which fits nicely in the double bedroom and would be suitable for a child or small adult.
This is a very central London apartment yet with a budget price-tag (rare!) located in a quiet 'mews' (cobbled London street) which is attractive and has a real feel of London history. This apartment is ideal for people arriving from Heathrow airport, as it is just two minutes from the nearest Tube station (honestly!) which is on the only direct Tube line from Heathrow. So it's a really easy journey to your very central London accommodation. It's also ideal for arrivals on the Eurostar train to St Pancras and also for guests arriving at Gatwick who can take the fast Thameslink train to St Pancras. From St Pancras it's just an 10 minute walk away down a straight road, or one stop on the Tube.
Our apartment is right in the heart of Central London, round the corner from the British Museum, and is within walking distance of most of the tourist sights such as Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Theatreland, Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square and the London Eye. It's in a great area - there are plenty of cafe's and restaurants just a few minute's walk away, and a choice of three supermarkets around the corner.
We have only recently started renting it, so everything inside - the furniture, beds, furnishings, linen etc - are all fairly new. The apartment is offered at a budget price because it is in an historic building so the bathroom and kitchen facilities are not new - but are perfectly adequate. So you don't get 'swanky' but you don't get 'costly' either!
There are two apartments on the listing. They are almost identical and are the only flats in our building - one either side of the staircase from the ground floor. They could be used together by a larger group, eg 8-10 guests. The apartments are on the first floor of the building (in the UK that means up one flight of stairs). The interiors have lots of character, and have a beautiful original oak floor throughout. Our traditional sash windows (typical of London) let in loads of light and add to the character.
In each apartment there are two good-sized double bedrooms. One apartment has a king size bed plus double bed in the other bedroom. The other apartment has a king size bed plus two single beds in the other bedroom. In flat 7 we can also provide a folding bed suitable for a child or small adult, which can be placed in one of the bedrooms. There is an extra cost of £20 per night for this. We have chosen lovely beds and high quality mattresses, good linens, soft Egyptian cotton towels and stylish furnishings, so you will have everything you require to get a hotel level of sleeping comfort. All bedrooms have plenty of wardrobe space, bedside tables and lamps. We also provide a soft bath robe and a choice of pillows.
In each apartment there is a main living room, containing the sitting area, kitchenette, and dining area. The sitting area may be small but it's cosy with three-seater sofa, coffee table and satellite TV. Please note, if you are a larger group and all want to watch TV together you may need to use the dining chairs as well as the sofa.
The dining table is extendable so it can be used small if there are just two or three guests, or it can be pulled out to seat up to five. There are five dining chairs.
The small kitchenette isn't new but it is very well equipped so that if you want to self-cater you can cook to your heart's content! We have provided plenty of attractive white crockery, serving dishes, nice glassware and loads of pans, cutlery and utensils. There is a microwave, kettle, cafetiere (french press), teapot, toaster, big fridge-freezer and a washing machine suitable for small loads of holiday laundry.
The flat is well heated with a very efficient gas central heating system. In summer it has the advantage of windows on either side, which provide a good flow of air. We also provide room fans.
We provide free wifi and the broadband signal is strong, reliable and super fast.
Either of the flats offer excellent value for money, especially for families or two couples and they are particularly attractive for two friends who need separate rooms but can't afford the high prices of a more roomy or more classy apartment.
Our location, on an historic London 'mews' street, has loads of history and character. Because this is a narrow cobblestoned street it has no through traffic, so it's astonishingly quiet for a place to stay which is right in the centre.
Bloomsbury is famous for its garden squares and mews, making it one of the most expensive residential areas in the centre of London. It was just the same centuries ago, when the wealthy intellectuals chose Bloomsbury as THE place to live. Charles Dickens lived just around the corner from the apartment, while Virginia Woolf, Charles Darwin, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Lytton Strachey, and John Maynard Keynes lived in some of the squares nearby. Even Gandhi chose Bloomsbury for his home during his time in London. This is a place that is steeped in history, and you will see many blue plates on the sides of houses as you walk around the streets, telling you who lived there.
The mews still has the original cobblestones while the properties along its length are built from the mellow London brick, characteristic of the 1800's. The residents tend to have huge urns of flowers and window boxes to decorate their homes.
Bloomsbury is also the perfect central area from which to explore London. Please do Google it. You can easily walk to so many tourist sights, and because the Tube station is so close it's really convenient. Our apartment is particularly close to Covent Garden (for the shops and restaurants) and to Theatre land if you fancy a London show. The British Museum is just a short walk. Nowhere is far away, so even if you take a taxi back it will be a short journey and therefore it will not be expensive.
The other big difference between our apartments and many others are the personal touches we offer. We are not a rental company, just an English couple who adore London and enjoy introducing others to all it has to offer. We have carefully furnished and decorated the apartment to this high standard because we really want our guests to have a fantastic time - happy guests mean more to us than high profits. So unlike some apartments, you will not find cheap beds, cheap mattresses, hard pillows...or any of the other horrors you can find with the squeeze-every-penny-of-profit apartment rental companies. We pride ourselves on giving a very friendly, helpful and professional service. We want you to feel you made exactly the right choice!
Hello, I'm Janet and I've had a busy life as a journalist and running my own small company. But I'm now taking a bit more time for myself, so running this apartment gives me something to do without taking up all my time. I love mews streets and I love history. If I go abroad and need to find somewhere to stay I would much rather choose a place with some historical interest, some sense of character, than choose a bland hotel. These apartments are definitely not bland!
The street is quiet yet it's right in the centre so that you can walk to see the sights. That's pretty rare in Central London Also we only charge a modest price because the interior of each flat is not brand new and the living area is fairly tight for space. So it's a good compromise if you really want to be central but can't afford the high prices of other 'swanky' apartments.
Short stays of less than a week are accepted only where they fit with another booking

We had a wonderful time in London and the location of this flat was key for us! We arrived via St Pancras station and found it was an easy walk to the flat with suitcases and children in tow. We found the Russell tube station also easy for our needs to travel throughout the city. The 2 bedroom flat worked perfectly for our family of 4 (2-adults; 2-children (11 & 14)). We found the property to be very clean and it had everything we needed for our comfort. The Waitrose grocery and the pub at the end of the mews were tops on our list of this neighborhood.
From the beginning of the rental process to the end the owner was on top of everything. Any questions I had were always quickly answered via email in a very short period of time! Thank you Jan for a wonderful experience and we would absolutely recommend renting this flat!
We loved the location ( walk to Oxford St, The Strand, Covent Garden in about 15 mins), the comfy beds and hot shower. Jan was great to deal with throughout the process.
The location is fantastic. Very clean. There is a 24 hour small grocery store around the block, very close to the subway station. The apartment is small. I shared it with my grown son who was in the other bedroom and can't imagine putting more than 2 adults and maybe a small child in there when you have luggage etc. Janet was very helpful and kind. Definitely go to the Lamb for dinner or the Italian place next to it.
We stayed for a few days; the flat was exceptionally comfortable!
The living room included a lovely selection of DVDs and a great couch to loung on. The kitchen was small and very well equipped. We were able to cook every meal ourselves, but there is a variety of restaurants, pubs and shops around if eating out is your preference.
Our rooms were spacious and include everything needed to feel at home. The beds were so comfortable!! We actually looked up where to buy those pillows because they are so perfect.
Finally, the location of this flat could not be better. We were a three minute walk from the tube station. The walk over to the theatres, Covent Gardens, or the Palace takes 15-30 minutes and is littered with gorgeous sites and tasty treat shops. We couldn't have found a more convenient place for our stay! It was perfect.
My son and I stayed in Flat 7 for a week, and Jan’s description is 100% accurate. We’ve both been to London several times before, and this cozy place was perfect for us: in a quiet, brick-paved lane but close to everything. At the end of the block is a great pub; just around the corner is the Russell Square tube stop—if you’re flying into Heathrow you can take the Underground right to the stop without changing lines. There’s a good-sized supermarket in an upscale shopping mall (The Brunswick) a block away. Lots of other pubs (try The Lamb), restaurants and shops are close by.
A short walk (or 1 tube stop) in one direction gets you to the British Museum; a short walk (or 1 tube stop) in the opposite direction gets you to the British Library.
Tip: Buy an Oyster card (public transit pass) before you leave and have it mailed to you. You’ll sail past the other tourists clustered at the Underground ticket machines at Heathrow. You can get them here: https://tfl.gov.uk/fares-and-payments/oyster/what-is-oyster
The place was spotless; beds were excellent with lots of pillows. There were supplies of tea, coffee and sugar, as well as dishwashing soap and laundry detergent. There’s a flat-screen TV with cable, the Wi-Fi was fast and reliable, and we appreciated the book Jan put together giving tips about the apartment and the neighborhood. She takes pride in her place and responded extremely quickly to emailed questions. There’s also a collection of London guides left by previous guests.
The flat is up one flight of stairs from the street. It’s a two-story building, so there’s nothing above you, and the ground floor is occupied by a photographer. We never heard him or her. The building is interesting: It looks as if the first floors are garages, but we peeked inside a few and saw modern offices.
We came to London to meet up with family. There were seven of us, so we rented both Flats 9 and 7 to cater for all of us. The flats are opposite each other up a short set of private stairs. This allowed us to be close and yet gave us our own space. The description on the home away site of Flat 9 and 7 are accurate. They are small, but clean, comfortable and warm. There is not a lot of room if you are 5 large adults in a single flat and I would suggest 3 to 4 people in one flat at most. I thought they were good value for the money. Flat 9 has a large Queen size bed in one room. It is a very comfortable bed but there is not a lot of room around the bed. The second bedroom has 2 single beds or it can be made into a double bed. This room is larger and has more free space around the beds. Flat 7 is almost identical to flat 9. It has 2 bedrooms both with double beds (one double and one Queen). They are pleasant rooms, both with more space to move around the beds.
The flats are very conveniently placed near the centre of London. We could walk to Russel Square tube station in 2 minutes, which gave easy access to all of London. There are a variety of restaurants and cafes nearby and a large supermarket opposite the tube station, which we found very handy. We walked a lot ....and walked to the British Museum in 10 minutes, Covent Gardens in 15-20 minutes and Westminister and Buckingham Palace in about 35 minutes. Jan and her husband met us at the flats and were a delight. They were very helpful and spent time making sure we were set up comfortably in the flats. I would happily stay here again.
The apartment is in Bloomsbury, a lovely residential part of central London. famous for its inspiring Georgian buildings, often arranged in large squares around beautiful public gardens. It's a well-to-do but lively area with great restaurants and cafe's and a distinct 'buzz'. The British Museum is in the heart of Bloomsbury, as well as Dicken's home in Doughty Street. Covent Garden is the neighbouring area and very close. But Bloomsbury is also the perfect location if you plan to visit Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Piccadilly, Leicester Square and Oxford street - they are all in walking distance or if you're not a good walker then they are only one or two stops on the Tube (metro).
