Listen to the river's 'concert', gather around the cozy fireplace, sink into Adirondack chairs at the riverside fire ring, or relax in the hot tub. Experience nature's serenity while fly fishing, tubing, playing pool, or losing yourself in a book. This log cabin, with its charming mountain décor and comfortable furnishings, is the perfect escape from your daily routine. Feel worlds away from it all with Chattanooga and Atlanta only a short trip away. Yes, internet access is available for those who can't live without it.
Our family consists of two Atlanta area professionals with three children who keep us very, very busy. We understand the value of precious vacation time and how necessary it is to get away from the hectic day to day.
Jennifer Elwood purchased this cabin in 2007
We chose this cabin because we love to sit on the front porch or near the fire pit and listen to the river rapids. The North Georgia mountains offers our family an opportunity to escape the business of suburban living, but is close enough to take advantage of on a regular basis.
Just a short note to let you know we really enjoyed our vacation at the cabin. The Smores were a nice surprise especially since my granddaughter asked me on the way there if I remembered to bring marshmallows. The water was a very nice surprise. Your pictures do not show how beautiful it really is.

Thank you Jennifer and Lonnie for opening up your cabin for our fabulous family vacation!! This was such a relaxing time where we could all reconnect with each other. Our two sons, their wives and our three little grandchildren - Noah 5 1/2 years, Brannon almost 5 years and Natalie almost 3 years old really enjoyed the river. Tubing was such an adventure and wading/playing in the cool water was refreshing. We enjoyed walking and exploring and took tons of pictures. We loved the camp fire and making s'mores. One day was spent riding the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway but otherwise we did not feel the need to go anywhere else. There were plenty of games at the cabin but would recommend bringing additional paper supplies and your own body wash/soap. Stocking up before you settle in is best because you won't want to leave!
We had a great time at your cabin. It was perfectly located on the river and in a beautiful resort. Although we did not catch any fish we all enjoyed the scenery and touring through the town of Ellijay and Carters Lake. Our dog, Cocoa, had a great time swimming in the river and hiking through the woods.
What a wonderful experience! We have stayed here several times now and its been a peaceful time every time. Cannot say enough thanks for letting our family enjoy your cabin!
We had a very relaxing few days on the river. The roads in and out are quite narrow and the last part is on a gravel road. However, we had no trouble in a minivan. As it was only my wife and I we had ample space. In fact, we only used the main level and never used the upstairs or downstairs. Jennifer allowed us to bring our 4 Golden retrievers to the cabin. They had a great time. As Jennifer predicted, the dogs loved the screened in porch that over looked the river. In the mornings we went for long hikes with the dogs. Afterwords we would go to visit Blue Ridge, Ellijay, Dahlonega etc. with the dogs as the towns are all very dog friendly. Shops have water bowls outside and there are several restaurants with outside terraces which allow dogs. In the afternoons we returned to the cabin and took the dogs swimming in the water (we brought our own dog towels). Each evening we cooked at the cabin. It was nice to have the grill on the deck and it came with an extra propane tank. The equipment in the kitchen was basic but serviceable. A couple of things missing was a toaster and wine glasses (there was a single wine glass). We looked all over for the toaster but couldn't find one! Anyway, it was not a big deal as a quick trip to the store and we bought an inexpensive toaster and a dozen wine glasses that we left at the cabin. We enjoyed visits to the Blue Ridge Brewery and Grumpy Men brewery. One afternoon we went to Amicalola Falls. I walked to the top with 3/4 dogs which was good exercise for all. There are lots of deer around, a resident heron that fishes just outside the cabin and twice I watched from the porch as an osprey caught fish from the river. I am a photographer so I got several good photos.
We fished and caught 6 catfish. We used the tubes available at the property. There was a night of live music at the General Store. Loved the deer. They are so abundant and tame. Very relaxing to sit on the screened in porch or sit by the fire on the river. Thank you so much.
The jets on the hot tub were not working, even after the sauna people came to replace the cover and work on it.
We rented this cabin for a class reunion with old friends we loved everything about it. The river right in front was so peaceful the house was breathtaking inside and out. The hot tub out back was so refreshing. There is so much more space than what pictures on here show. Everything was perfect up in till the very last hour of our stay. There is a hand written sign on the fridge that has a number to let know if we had decided to leave early(before 10am). In the renters information I received. It stated check in at 4pm check out at 11am. So 10am on check out day arrived and we were "greeted" (more like forced) to leave because on the handwritten piece of paper it said 10am checkout. Her words. There was two individuals who came the man was very kind the women was very rude unprofessional and the stain on what was a perfect trip. What it seem liked is that she just wanted to get her day out of the way as fast as possible regardless of how much time we had left on our rent which we paid for. This didn't happen till the very last hour of our stay. Besides the vile women banging on our door it was perfect. This cabin is paradise I just hope the help is changed for the future renters to enjoy and leave comfortable unlike we where not able to.
Ellijay, Georgia is a quaint town with several antique shops and restaurants. Outdoor activities abound--including hiking, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, taking a ride on the scenic railway, fishing and tubing. Carter's Lake is just a few miles away for water skiing, wake boarding, and fishing. With so many activities in Coosawattee River Resort, you probably will not want to leave!
