Liberty Maine Cottage is a charming, year round home located on the shores of Lake St. George in Liberty, Maine. The cottage sleeps four people comfortably in 2 separate bedrooms. There is a living room, a large fully equipped kitchen and dining area a mud room and full bath. The waterside wrap around 400 sf deck provides additional space for outdoor relaxation and living. Bed linens and towels are provided. A rowboat, canoe and (3) kayaks are available to use. This lovely cottage is situated on 150 ft. of water frontage and 40 ft. from the water’s edge. Lake St. George is a beautiful spring fed crystal clear 1,017 acre pristine mountain lake 500 feet above sea level and is known for excellent fishing and its large population of loons. The Town of Liberty is 15 miles from the coast and 25 miles from the state capital. Liberty is a central location for visiting nationally known tourist attractions such as Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, Belfast, Camden, Rockland and Boothbay Harbor.
A fish jumps out of the still clear waters while jeweled dragonflies hover, a turtle suns itself on a nearby rock, the calls of the loons echo across the lake. You are relaxed and enjoying a good book as you lay on the chaise lounge which is on the dock just inches above the water…. You move the boat into the shadow of an overhanging tree and cast your line near a protruding rock. Then all of the sudden a 3lb Small-mouth bass inhales your offering and makes a quick turn and darts to get away, the bass leaps out of the water and shakes its head trying to throw the hook loose…. You spent some of the morning in the quaint Maine coastal town shopping, you go to the farmers market, where you were able to pick up locally made/grown bread, cheese organic produce and fresh fish for tonight’s dinner. On the way back to the cottage you stop and pick up some adult beverages at a local winery and ….. You spend a glorious sunny summer afternoon paddling kayaks around out in the big lake. You stop at Blueberry Island for a late afternoon swim in the crystal clear, cool water it’s so refreshing and invigorating. You pick a few handfuls of wild blueberries and you eat some now and place rest in a bag to save for tomorrow’s breakfast….. You are sitting on the deck in the early evening and as the sun sets it creates a brilliant lighting effect against the trees on the opposite shore line, which then reflects upon the water creating an intoxicating display of colors and images….. The evenings concert is just beginning first you hear the spring peepers in the background, and then the birds and insects create the rhythm with an assortment of chirping. Then the main performers start, although you never know who is going to show up or where they will be singing from, sometimes upstream, sometimes downstream, sometimes both. The Green, Wood and Tree frogs provide choruses of a medley of moaning, grunting, and banjo like plucking sounds while the Bull frog’s repetitive low baritone grunts sound like a tuba in the background keeping the beat and with a occasional cry from a loon it is truly nature’s symphony …. You then pick up you drink to head inside to prepare your dinner with the fresh ingredients that you picked up earlier in the day while you hum Louis Armstrong’s ‘What a Wonderful World'……. After dinner and before you retire for the night, you turn off all the house lights and go out to the deck. You stand there and look up at the night’s sky and see more stars then you could ever imagine. You then find the North Star and begin trying to identify the constellations….
These are the sights, sounds and opportunities that welcome you at this peaceful waterfront property.
If this sounds enticing, Liberty Maine Cottage is the place for you.
Liberty Maine Cottage is located in a rural residential neighborhood along a pristine waterway. Guest shall be sensitive to the premises and the natural environment of its surroundings, so as not to disturb or disrespect other residents, vegetation or the shoreline.
We are sixty somethings that came to the Midcoast area in 1971, fell in love with people, place and lifestyle and have been coming back ever since. We garden, do projects around the house, read, hike, paddle, fish, swim, travel, sight-see, go antiquing, shop for art and hand made items and cook from scratch with local fresh ingredients.

Terry & Michelle,
It’s too rare when a place lives up exactly to its billing or exceeds expectations. Yours does. My wife and I spent a glorious week of (childless) peace and quite, a kind of second honeymoon and chance to reconnect. What we loved:
• the view from the deck in twilight and early darkness
• the call of the loons
• the kayaks and canoe at the ready
• grilling every night (ok except for 2 rainy ones)
• the back roads for cycling (I brought one)
• the way people wave when you paddle past
• how well the house is equipped, especially the kitchen
• each others company
We've rented many houses, all over the world, and your, Liberty Cottage, ranks way high on our list. Thanks much for a chance to enjoy our special week.

The cottage was just as described but nicer. It had everything we needed. We Loved the fact that they had 3 kayaks for our use and the house is only 40 feet from the water. Lake st. George was very calm, perfect for small personal watercraft. Not a lot of bigger speed boats were in the lake when we were there. The cottage is on a quiet road and even though there are houses on either side there was plenty of privacy. The cottage is far away if you want peace and quiet but not too far away if you want to go out and enjoy the tourist sights. The owners Terry and Michelle were very helpful and responded to all of my emails quickly. They also sent detailed information about the local area and places to visit. Thank you Michelle and Terry for letting us stay in your lovely home. HAD TO COPY A PAST REVIEW DUE TO THE FACT THE WORDS WOULD BE THE SAME. HAVE THE VRBO NUMBER ON FILE FOR ANOTHER TRAVEL ----- THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE HELP ---- PHIL & KATHY

We've stayed here two summers in a row and plan to keep going back. The owners are helpful, the house is clean and has everything you need, and the lake is beautiful. Especially enjoy the on-site kayaks and deck that overlooks the water. We love it!
The cottage is exactly as described. Immaculately clean. I loved the beautiful & well-stocked kitchen for cooking and dining. A cozy place to "get away from it all". Great owner & local caretaker.
Our family (parents & elementary-school aged children) enjoyed kayaking & fishing on the lake plus the easy day trips to coast, historical sites, and museums. MUST visit town of Liberty to shop at Liberty Graphics and Liberty Tool (funky T's and antiques). Recommend Lori's for dining and dessert, but save room for John's Ice Cream!
The Liberty area is home to a variety of local artisans - woodworkers, potters, weavers, cheese makers, brewers, small organic farms and more. These cottage industries line the byways and invite you inside while you explore the beautiful, rolling countryside along the Appleton and Knox Ridges. Venturing further abroad, Mid-Coast Maine also offers something for everyone. For the hands-on vacationer there are windjammer cruises and sea kayaking. Nationally recognized learning programs such as the Maine Photographic Workshop in Rockport, or classes at The Waterfalls Arts Center are also available. For those looking to discover the cultural richness of the Maine coast, there are museums, galleries, theaters and concerts to appeal to every taste, including Concerts in the park, Blues, Jazz, Lobster, and Blueberry Festivals, as well as boat races and country fairs. It can serve as a home base for engaging in pleasures like hiking, biking, swimming, boating, birding, fishing, antique shopping and more
