La Grange is a delightfully restored 19C stone built farmhouse offering stylish & luxurious accommodation for up to 14 people. All the rooms have been furnished to an exceptionally high standard with both antique & modern furniture. The large beamed & partially stone flagged open plan living room & inside dining area is furnished with comfortable sofas & chairs; a large screen satellite TV & VHS, DVD & CD players; and a table & chairs for 14 people. The modern and fully equipped kitchen leads off the living room as does a separate cloakroom.The bedroom wing comprises 6 spacious ensuite bedrooms - 4 double/2 twin - all with separate entrances to the central courtyard. There are fully equipped laundry & drying facilities. Outside, there is a large attractive, mainly lawned garden for the exclusive use of guests which has a large shaded terrace with a table and chairs for 14 people, a BBQ and lighting, making it an ideal place for outdoor eating and relaxing. The 10 x 5 metre fenced, alarmed and salt-filtered swimming pool has a large sunbathing terrace with plenty of sun loungers, tables and chairs and is a wonderful place to enjoy the stunning views. Alongside the pool there is a separate table tennis terrace. Badminton and boules sets are also provided.

Additional amenities: Figeac has a good mix of shops and banks, with a bustling Saturday morning market. A large L'Eclerc supermarket is less than five minutes away with a depot de pain and charcuterie even closer.There is an excellent choice of restaurants close to the gite and in the town. Literary, music, theatre and other festivals are held in Figeac and other surrounding towns throughout the year. An Information Folder, with details of all the amenities and activities locally is provided and the resident English owners are available to give you every assistance during your stay.

On arrival: Peter and Carolyn Smith, the resident English owners, invite guests to a welcome drink and a Welcome Hamper is also provided. All bed linen, bath and tea towels are provided and included in the rental prices. Beds will be made up for guests' arrival. For those staying more than one week, fresh bed linen and towels will be provided for subsequent weeks. Guests are required to supply their own towels for swimming and the removal of hair colourants and self-tanning lotions.

Small children: Children of all ages are welcome. Those over 6 months at the time of the holiday are counted as occupants. A fully equipped Cot Room, with two cots, is available on the first floor of the gite. Baby sitting for children up to 5 is provided on a charged basis by arrangement and there is a remote baby monitor available for guests' use.An extra cot and 2 high chairs are also available.

  • The bedroom wing comprises 6 bedrooms - 4 double/2 twin - arranged on two floors & all having their own en suite facilities and separate entrances on to the central courtyard. There is also a small baby's bedroom, complete with cot, bedding, changing table and baby alarm. An additional cot can be provided if required. All the bedrooms are provided with the best quality white Egyptian cotton linen, large bath towels & hand towels. Clean linen & towels are provided for those staying more than one week. Guests are required to bring their own swimming towels. The single beds in Villefranche & Cordes bedrooms are only provided when the party comprises 14 people or when made necessary by the required bedroom allocation.

A perfect venue for a family holiday in France

La Grange is an ideal location for a big family get-together. We went there six years ago and enjoyed it so much we returned in 2017. The property is very comfortable and equipped to the highest standards. It has six comfortable bedrooms, all with en suite facilities, which can be accessed directly from the courtyard. The shaded outdoor eating area with adjacent barbeque is a big plus, and we enjoyed lots of al fresco lunches and dinners, with relaxed chat and games as the evenings drew in. We really appreciated the welcome hamper, the welcome drinks with Peter and Caro, and their pre-holiday shopping to provide supplies for our first night.

The property sits on a promontory above the Lot, so there are good views from the property, and even better views down the Lot valley by taking a short walk along the many field paths nearby. La Grange feels very peaceful set as it is in the quiet French countryside, but it is only a few minutes’ drive from a big Leclerc supermarket where you can get all the shopping you need.

We enjoyed just spending time in the extensive garden and around the immaculately maintained swimming pool, but there are also lots of local attractions to visit. We enjoyed canoeing on the Lot, visiting the market at Villefranche, and were lucky enough to be there at the right time to take in a spectacular “son et lumiere” performance at a local village. But the highlight was undoubtedly visiting the “Jardin de la Mothe”, an English cottage garden nearby, where the owners’ twin daughters provided a delicious and excellent value outdoor lunch. This was one of Peter and Caro’s top recommendations, and another highlight of the holiday was having these friendly and helpful owners living right next door, on hand to provide advice and ideas for activities.

All in all, we had a great holiday and we hope to return to La Grange again in the future.

Excellent holiday in a beautiful setting

We had a wonderful holiday at La Grange this August. As a party of 3 families (6 adults and 6 children), we were delighted that the accommodation was well equipped to meet our varied needs. As each bedroom had its own bathroom it was perfect for multiple families getting together, with ample space. Our host Peter and Caro were very welcoming, providing shopping on arrival and ensuring we had all we needed throughout our stay. The accommodation was comfortable, clean and thoughtfully organised to ensure we had all we needed. The local area had plenty of things to do but we were having such a wonderful time basking in the sunshine by the pool we rarely ventured out. The children also had lots of fun playing on the lawn, in the pool, table tennis and many of the games our hosts had left for us. We all spent many evenings on the beautiful terrace watching the sunset and would love to revisit.

Wonderful family holiday property

The property was everything the description said it would be. All six rooms and ensuites were immaculate. The gardens ,terrace and pool were a delight. The owners' recommendations for trips and services nearby were all enjoyed by various members of our 13 strong party; as was their hospitality, the pre-arrival shopping and the lovely Welcome Pack.

Lovely accommodation within a beautiful area

Six comfortable en suite bedrooms ably housed our party of fourteen, six children and eight adults (aged from four to seventy) and everyone enjoyed the swimming pool, lawn area and indoor games to the full. Peter and Caro are perfect hosts, there to assist with suggestions and bookings when needed but otherwise keeping a low profile. The inside and outside of the property is beautifully maintained and the garden, though not massive and on a slope, was the scene of cricket, rounders and other family games. As the weather was good most of the time, we were able to eat outside at the very nice barbecue area. On wet days it was a bit of a squash getting us all around the dining table and in the sitting room. The kitchen is rather small but otherwise very well equipped for large groups. When we booked we were a bit concerned about the bedrooms all being off the terrace, especially with young children, but it seemed to work ok. La Grange is in a great position for visiting the many lovely ancient towns and villages in the area and the beautiful countryside of the region. We have already recommended this property to friends.

Stunning

My family and I (a party of 14) have just spent a wonderful week at La Grange.The house was well equipped and immaculate in every way, and every bedroom has its own en suite which is ideal when there are 6 adults and 6 children! The pool and gardens are wonderful for children, and we spent a lot of our time swimming and playing games. There is a table tennis table and boules to play, which we found great fun. Peter and Carolyn are the perfect hosts, suggesting many places they thought would be interesting to us, and then booking tickets for us. They were also on hand to answer any queries we had and so make the holiday easier for us. One of our favourite days of the whole holiday was our trip to the Jardins de la Mothe where we had a wonderful lunch and wandered through a truly spectacular garden. This too was arranged by Peter and Carolyn. So a wonderful holiday that came to an end too soon! Hopefully we can return before too long.

Breathtaking views from a wonderful gite!

La Grange is an impressive property that catered perfectly for our party of 12. The rooms are of a high standard with good quality bedding which we all agreed provided excellent nights of sleep! The gardens and pool are extremely well kept and the table tennis added an extra recreational facility. Peter and Caro are the most hospitable hosts who ensured our stay was as comfortable as possible and were always available to help with booking of taxis and restaurants as well providing maps to nearby places of interest. Their advice and guidance right from the booking stage has been second to none and greatly assured us all that we were going to be very well looked after! We would have no hesitation whatsoever to highly recommend La Grange to families and friends who are seeking a perfect setting for a relaxing holiday in the Dordogne region. Thank you Peter and Caro for making our holiday so enjoyable and memorable!

La Grange is located in the small, quiet hamlet of Liffernet in tranquil and beautiful countryside between the Cele and the Lot rivers and is ten minutes away by car from the thriving and picturesque medieval town of Figeac. With its spectacular gorges, lush valleys, historic towns (including some of the most popular and interesting sites in France, such as Rocamadour, Conques & St Cirq Lapopie), caves (notably Padirac & Grottes du Peche-Merle) and pretty villages to explore, the Lot Valley offers a broad canvas of stunning scenery and plenty to see and do. The vineyards of Cahors and Gaillac are within easy reach and well worth a visit. For active visitors, there are 3 excellent golf courses & 2 riverside tennis clubs nearby. The area also offers water sports, riding, canoeing, cycling, fishing, bird and butterfly watching (with many varied and unusual species) and walking (with an abundance of walks from the house and in the countryside around).

Golf: Golfing parties (12 maximum) are especially welcome. There are 3 excellent golf courses within an hour's drive from the house. Rodez and Aurillac are 18 hole courses and St Cere is a 9 hole course. Clubs may be hired at Rodez and buggies may be hired if required. Green fees in May/June/September/October are 30-35 euros (with reductions available for golfing parties) and are slightly higher in July/August.
