Gathering in the Short North
This house worked perfectly for our gathering of children and grandchildren in Columbus. The two open seating areas and large kitchen provided the space we needed. It was clean, welcoming and the beds were very comfortable.
We loved being able to walk to High Street in the Short North and to Goodale Park. Nick responded quickly when we had a question. We would definitely stay here again.
Victorian Village Rental
My family (2 adults, 2 adult children) rented this property for a holiday visit to Columbus, where we had raised our children. The property was fit for purpose (we didn’t anticipate spending a lot of time there other than for sleeping, breakfasts, and down time during the week). It is a stretch to describe this property as “a beautiful home”. It is old and creaky with unoiled doors, squeaky floorboards, steep and uncarpeted stairs requiring considerable care, especially when moving luggage up and down.
The decor is mid-century student-housing - none of it fits comfortably in the spaces available, and the couches were selected with extra bedding in mind, rather than comfort for sitting.
The front door plate needs to be screwed in (not evident that security was compromised).
One of three kitchen spotlights burned out, and one burner of the stove was not operative (it wasn’t a problem for us, but does not inspire confidence).
The TV was large with lots of programming options, but it is a ROKU TV, difficult to understand how to operate for some of us.
The property is listed as accommodating up to 8 people, but with a single full bath, that is a stretch. There were not even sufficient towel racks for 4.
The bathtub and tub enclosure were old and a bit dodgy (a bath mat and mechanical attention to the enclosure would have solved this).
The barbecue melted one of its own knobs (10 minutes pre-heat, 8 minutes cooking)
On the plus side, the linens were clean and un-stained.
The beds were comfortable (a B).
The wifi worked as expected.
The heat was easily controlled and comfortable in a blustery November week.
Parking (two cars) in the gas station lot next door was convenient, and helpful in a parking-challenged neighborhood.
Tableware was certainly adequate for 4.
The cookware was high quality and in good shape.
A small microwave, coffeemaker, modern refrigerator and stove were all adequate.
Washer and dryer in the basement were functional.
It is conveniently located near Downtown, sports facilities, and the University with easy, 12 minute access to the Airport.
Osu psu fottball weekend with sibly
Roomy bedrooms ideal size for 3 couples, location was excellent
Free parking & close to downtown
This was a perfect wknd getaway with my adult children to celebrate my brothers birthday. We had a nice big kitchen for cooking, plenty of hot water, free off street parking & a short walk to downtown. Bedrooms were spacious & comfy & two living rooms gave us plenty of space to relax & hang out. I would definitely stay here again!
Great, easy, convenient property.
The place was perfect for access to the short north and OSU campus. Was clean and easy to check in and check out. Would 100% love to stay again.
Convenient and centrally located townhome
We are a family of four who were in town to see our daughter off to college. We enjoyed our stay at this house. Being walking distance from High Street with all of its shops and restaurants, including Jeni's Ice Cream, was wonderful. The kitchen was fairly well stocked, including coffee, olive oil and a very nice gas stove. There was convenient parking available and a private wifi network. The beds and towels were clean and comfortable, and the shower was decent with hot water. One day we faced a stuck door lock, and the owner responded quickly. Having 1-1/2 bathrooms available was nice. There were ample couches and chairs for us to spread out.
There are two things guests should be aware of about this house. First, while the a/c worked well downstairs, the cool air did not reach the upstairs. There were ceiling and floor fans in the bedrooms, but it was still quite warm at night. Second, the house is located on a busy street near a freeway; so there is a LOT of traffic noise from early in the morning to late into the night. I ended up getting ear plugs at the nearby CVS, and then I slept fine. Despite the heat and noise, I would stay here again for the convenience and comfort. It cost us less than a hotel for better space and creature comforts.
