We spent a week at this home with our kids and grand kids. It was the perfect location. We brought out some riding horses to help explore the Black Hills National Forest right in the backyard as well as took the suggestions for the different sightseeing places. Price for this location was way reasonable and we plan to return again. Absolutely wonderful experience.
We stayed here with another couple and were so glad we did! The house is very close to Custer so we would take off each day and return at night ready to relax. We had all of the necessary amenities for a super reasonable price. This place would be perfect for a family reunion.
We spent 8 nights in this beautiful home, using it as our base to explore The Black Hills and Badlands. The location is ideal. Just 8 miles from Custer, it's a quick trip into town. But after sightseeing all day it is wonderful to return to a beautiful, quiet location where you can just take in the sound of the wind through the pines, the sight of the wild deer and turkey, or the horses grazing in the pasture next door. There is a family a chipmunks living nearby and their antics are really cute to watch from any one of a variety of decks. The house itself has everything you need. If you want to explore the beautiful Black Hills (and you should!), and like to base your activities filled with quiet beauty, then this is the place for you. You won't regret staying here.
Ideal for our extended family, and the kids loved the bunkhouse! Owners were great to work with. House was well stocked. Beds were super comfy. Porches were lovely for relaxing and star gazing. Great area for walks, bike rides, and four wheeling. So peaceful and quiet! And yet convenient to everything we wanted to see and do. No complaints, and we are hoping to return and stay here again.
This is the first time I have used VRBO to book a home for vacation and I would not hesitate to do it again based on my dealings with the owner of this wonderful home. The house was everything that we were promised it would be. The owners were super nice and available for any and all questions. This house is fully stocked with dishes, towels etc. All of the amenities of home! We very much enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and sat outside every single night. Not having cell service was the only down side but what the heck, who needs a cell phone while you are relaxing in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The home is VERY private but still close to town, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park (where we saw HUNDREDS of buffalo and it was so awesome)! There were five people in our group which worked perfectly. One more would have been fine but any more than that and I think we would have liked a third bathroom :) Overall, it was a wonderful location, beautiful property/home! We will definitely be back to the Black Hills again some day!
The house outside of Custer was spacious and comfortable for my mother, my wife and I, and our infant son. It could easily accommodate several more. Unlike some rentals, the pantry was nicely stocked with basics -- we didn't need to bring a salt shaker, say -- and we made use of the large gas grill out back and the fire pit under the stars. The home is situated about a mile down a hard packed road on a large piece of property in the national forest, and is very private. It's a 10-minute drive to Custer, which was convenient, and not much further in the other direction to Wyoming. We had other relatives staying in the area, and were able to entertain 10 people very comfortably. The horseshoes and stakes are fun. Our only issue was with communication, because our cell phones had no reception and the home phone would only dial local numbers (not our relatives' mobiles). And while the home does have wireless internet, the connection was a little spotty. So I wouldn't plan to do a lot of business there, but that's not why I go to the Black Hills. I look forward to renting it again on my next visit.
