Fabulous Detached Villa. Fantastic family holiday home, situated short walk from 4 local commercial ctrs (close enough to shops, restaurants, banks & bars, but far enough not to be bothered by noise). Built & fully furnished to a high standard with secure private parking. Overlooks the beautiful large triple communal Pool. The villa stands at a high point in this prestigious development, & so enjoys commanding spectacular views of the sea & mature greenery. It is set in it's own private, secure gardens with orange & lemon trees & kids play equipment incl. trampoline. 3 double bedrooms (master with en-suite and memory foam king size bed), plus large twin 4th bedroom, & occasional 5th double bedroom (also playroom) gives flexibility to sleep 8-10 (max. 6 adults). 2.5 bathrooms, 4 sun terraces, incl. private rooftop solarium. General: An ideal holiday for the young family with several water parks nearby, including the Aquopolis in Torrevieja.

Down the coast is the beautiful Mar Menor inland sea. Ideal for water-sports, and for taking in traditional 'old' Spain in the towns of Santiago de Ribera, Los Alcazares and Lo Pagan. A little further down is the world famous La Manga Club with its amazing golf and leisure facilities.

The newly opened Zenia Boulevard is a mecca of shopping and gastronomy. It is one of the largest and most luxurious shopping experiences in Spain, and it is just 5 minutes drive from the villa.

Nearby the traditional Spanish town of Torrevieja offers lots of facilities including a yachting marina and many and varied restaurants and bars. Also a childrens fair and street market (open every night), large Friday market and a good selection of shops. Fantastic sea front and beaches. Submarine museum too.

Also the famous (free!) mud baths are only a fifteen minute drive in Lo Pagan. Cake yourself in therapeutic mud whilst the flamingos look on bemused!

Historic Cartegena is about an hour away to the south and Alicante 45mins to the north, Orihuela and Murcia cities are 45mins inland.

There is also tennis at Villamartin, and Bowls at the Emerald Club.

Beaches: There are a wide variety of top quality beaches, all awarded the EEC Blue Flag for cleanliness and safety, all within 5-15 minutes drive. The most famous of these is Guardamar Beach with its spectacular sand dunes covered with pines and eucalyptus - the setting is one of the most unique scenes in Valencia. Locally, the sandy beaches at Playa Flamenca, La Zenia, Cala Capitain, Campoamor and Cabo Roig are a must for all sun seekers, with beach bars and restaurants, plus volleyball and children's play areas, and those all important sun beds. Most beaches have childrens play frames and equipment. Snorkelling is great at many beaches, especially Playa Flamenca. And surfing is popular too, with kids body-boarding and even serious malibu boarding. Fishing is very popular off the rocks.

Climate and weather: Obviously Spain is famous for its virtually guaranteed sunny weather all year round, with beautifully warm weather in the summer months. And there are very few rainy days between November and March, during which time you can expect blue skies and temperatures in the low to mid 20’s (tee shirt and shorts weather!). According to the World Health Organisation this area of the Costa Blanca has got the healthiest climate in Europe, and is one of the healthiest places in the world to live. Asthma and rheumatism sufferers especially will notice the benefits.

Please note:

Air conditioning - for the avoidance of doubt, the villa does NOT have air conditioning. All bedrooms are on the ground floor, which makes them naturally cooler, plus all bedrooms have ceiling fans which are adequate for most people in all but exceptionally hot conditions.

Pool - the pool is communal, not private. It is however very close by - approximately 30m - and can be seen from the rear terrace and rooftop solarium.

There is an additional Housekeeping charge. This is for the preparation of the house, cleaning & laundry and is payable directly to the housekeepers in cash (euros) on arrival, depending on number of guests or bedrooms used:

up to 4 guests / 2 bedrooms = €90

up to 6 guests / 3 bedrooms = €100

up to 8 guests / 4 bedrooms = €110

up to 10 guests / 5 bedrooms = €120

This playroom can be used as an occasional double bedroom - suitable for young kids mainly as one of the other bedrooms has to use this room for access to the rest of the house. Plus it has no curtains. Privacy from outside is not an issue as the room is not overlooked at all, but it does mean that the room can't be darkened. There is a large travel cot available if required. Although there is space for up to 10, our standard rates are for up to 6 people. There should be no more than 6 adults. There is a surcharge for additional guests - up to a maximum of 10 in total.

The master bedroom has a luxurious king sized MEMORY FOAM MATTRESS - absolutely fantastic! Satellite TV has many British and European channels (including BBC, ITV, Ch4, Ch5, BBC News24, Boomerang, etc. plus many UK radio stations, etc. etc.). Please note the villa does NOT have air conditioning. Instead all bedrooms have ceiling fans which are adequate for most people in all but the hottest conditions to keep bedrooms comfortable overnight. Plus there are other portable fans, and the house is very well ventilated.

Overall impression was one of a property in need of modernisation. Whilst nearly everything was there, it was not in the best condition, especially things like cooking utensils. Bathrooms need to have mould remove. Didn't help we had problems with the fridge which finally packed up all together and did not get replaced until night before we came back. This led to extra expense on our behalf as we could not trust it to keep stuff cold, so had to eat out more than we planned to.

The lower floor gets extremely hot and stuffy due to design of the building. This made sleep hard for the children.

On the good side, the pool was good, although access to the pool was not as convenient as we would have preferred. There was no direct link, so couldn't easily take chairs down etc.

Saying all that we enjoyed the holiday as the location was perfect. Lots of choice of beaches and restaurants within walking or max 20 min drive.

Good and Bad

Welome pack appreciated. Exterior of building very well kept. Good facilities in terms of kitchen, washer, drying screens etc. The kitchen was very clean but still had a very used and grubby sponge/scourer in the sink.


We were disappointed with the low standard of cleanliness. This was particularly so in both the bathrooms with dirty sealant, grubby shower screen glass and surrounds at base of shower doors. Both wash basins with long cracks and dirty sealant around both. The shower mat had debris when shaken.

Also, we were aghast to find stains on bed sheet. When getting replacement from wardrobe this too had a stain. 3rd sheet clean but did not fit bed properly. Mattress protector had hairs on it. All bedding needs replacement, as does the bathroom sealants and the rusty shower cubicle.

Dust and used tissues found when moving one of the twin beds. Debris of long-standing found between the sofa cushions.

Overall the issues of cleanliness and required refurbishment and replacement put a bit of a damper on our week. In a "luxury" villa the least we expect is fundamental cleanliness, not to say uncracked basins.

All of these points and more have been raised directly with the owner. Despite having recently appointed new cleaners just prior to my visit he has yet to get to grips with this. I am told they had done a 10 hour spring clean prior to our stay. I would not employ them if this is the case.

There had just been a changeover of housekeepers and I think many of the issues were due to this, and hangover issues from the previous ones who had let standards slip. I apologise for this. We too are disappointed about the cleanliness issues, and have passed on your comments to our new housekeepers - uncensored! Luckily these are easily remedied. Some of the other issues require some more substantial work. Your feedback has formed the basis of a review and refurbishment, and can assure you (and future guests) that ALL of these issues are currently being addressed. Lovely location nice and central nice villa maybe as it sleeps 10 my only advice is that it needed more bedding etc as we were sharing pillows etc. Other than that really nice holiday. As I used to live there myself we were celebrating a friends 70th who lives there and own a bar in Rioja. Will book again

When you are on holiday you want your accommodation to be at least as good as when you are at home. This gives us - and you - the luxury of a detached house with lots of space and privacy. Plus the location is excellent. There is so much to do. We have been holidaying there several times a year for many years and we never get bored!

What makes this villa unique

We spend most of our time on the rear terrace! Its such a relaxing place to be with commanding views and lots of sun. Bliss!

A short 3 minutes walk takes you to the Los Dolses and Rioja commercial centres, which have a large well stocked supermarket, banks, shops, internet cafes, plus many bars and restaurants. The famous Villamartin Plaza is a 10-15 minute walk away and has a multitude of restaurants and bars, shops & a supermarket. La Zenia Blue Flag beach is just 2 miles away.

Torrevieja is a hive of life and culture and is just a 15 minute drive away. It has many attractions including a wonderful sea front with beaches, bars and restaurants. There is a funfair (dreat for the kids!) and a market which are both open every night in the summer months. There is a submarine museum at the marina, which also has some truly spectacular sunsets which you can enjoy from the classy bars and restaurants.

The local area provides for just about every leisure and pleasure including snorkelling, waterskiing, jet skiing, sailing, fishing, caving, shopping, water parks, cinemas, bowling alley, golf, etc.

Other Activities: relaxing, eating out, nightlife.

Golf: 3 superb golf courses, 1 of which is within walking distance:

1. Villamartin Golf Club. Championship par 72 course, opened in 1972, hosted 1984 Mediterranean Open and Spanish Open in January 2000. Classic, world-famous championship golf course. A 'must-play' course.

2. Campoamor Golf Club. .Par 72, opened 1989. Extremely Popular. Lovely restaurant with fantastic views.

3. Las Ramblas Golf Club. Par 72, opened in 1991. Arguably even more spectacular than Villamartin.

There are also another six golf clubs within a 10-20 minute drive, including LA FINCA (10-minute drive) 18 holes, 6049 yards, par 72.
