The Silver Salmon Lodge is a High End Denali Log Home in the heart of the Kenai Peninsula! We are tucked away in a spruce and birch forest frequented by the local moose! An acre lot ensures privacy and surrounded by spruce pines all around!
I furnished our home tailored for the family vacation. While it's also very suitable for fisherman it's designed for the family/couples that are wanting to experience all of the activities in Alaska!!
It's a 3 bedroom, 2 full bath with Jacuzzi tub. It has a high end kitchen complete with a Sub Zero glass door refrigerator, Wolf gas range, blue pearl granite countertops, black granite sink, separate freezer for your catch, and more!
The bedrooms are furnished with queen(2), full(1), and twin log beds(2). I purchased higher end mattresses for all 5 beds for optimum comfort after long days of adventure!
The upper floor full bath is complete with a Jacuzzi tub. The lower bathroom has a shower/bath combination with granite countertop and hickory cabinet.
The LG steam washer and dryer are stacked in the main floor bathroom neatly tucked into the front corner. I chose this combo because it will quickly and efficiently wash and dry large loads of clothes reducing the amount of clothes our guest need to pack and bring on their trip.
The main room contains the wood stove (wood burning not gas) and leather sofa, love seat, reclining chair, LCD HDTV, etc. We also provide an 8 seat dining table as well as 3 seat kitchen island.
We also provide Direct TV service with High Definition and Tivo.
We also provide a Weber Infra Red outdoor Gas Grill for your use.
There is an outdoor fire pit behind the home for telling all those tall fish tales!
Our home is decorated in native Alaskan prints, etc.and all linens are provided as well as stocked kitchen. We only remove perishables or opened dry foods after each guest to reduce your grocery bill and save you time. The kitchen is stocked with a large supply of glassware, silverware, cooking utensils, professional cooking pots/pans, dinnerware, etc.
The beds are traditional Alaskan log. Our sheets and towels are replaced every 2 years and comforters/blankets every 3-4 years. In addition our sheets are at a minimum of 300 thread count and most 400+. Pillows are down and quality foam. The two lower bedrooms both have queen size beds and closets with plenty of room. The loft is 12' x 17' with a full and 2 twin beds. The loft bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub and granite/hickory vanity.
**I do leave some of the previous sheets, towels, comforters that are unstained in good condition for use as well.
I chose Sterling to build our home because of it's central peninsula location and solitude. We are minutes from the Kenai, Kasilof, and Russian rivers and several lakes. The Russian River Campground entrance in Coopers Landing is exactly 30 miles from our driveway. We are also, centrally located on the peninsula and within easy reach of Seward and Homer. 1.25 hours from Seward and 1.20 hours from Homer.
Incredible fishing for Kings, Sockeyes, Silvers, Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden. You can also go clamming for razor clams nearby! Plenty of mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, climbing, etc.
***We do provide 8 spinning rods and reels for your use while staying at our home!
***I also make myself available during the season 24/7 to help guest with accurate up to date fishing information (current fish counts, current hotspots on rivers and streams all updated within 12 hours), Popular Hikes for all exp. levels, best kayaking excursions, preferred fishing and sightseeing charters, Wildlife viewing locations, etc.

Natalie and I are very active so it was just a matter of time before we discovered Alaska! Since we were married 20 years ago we have logged a lot of traveling miles but after visiting Alaska we decided it would be a regular trip :) and that is how we came to buying a home here! Natalie, Amelia, and I love the state of Alaska and everything it has to offer. Like many of you we cannot afford to spend more than 1-3 weeks a year in Alaska and are dependent on our vacation renters as well as winter renter. We try to make our home feel like it's your home in Alaska also. Amelia, our 7 year old daughter lets us know what to include keeping it very 'child friendly'. I feel that we have furnished the home well with durable and medium to high end furniture and appliances. I want our guest to feel like they are staying in a well appointed, comfortable, and clean home. We also want your stay to be stress free and not be burdened with worry over broken dishes, scratches on the floor, etc. We keep our home maintained nicely but also understand that things can happen during your stay just like at home! A lot of guest have told us just that....they felt very 'at home'. And we are very fortunate to have several repeat guest. Our home and it's expenses are almost entirely paid for buy summer guest and winter caretaker and that is something that Natalie and I do not take lightly! We truly appreciate our guest choosing our home and are always available for help with any fishing, hiking, boating, climbing, etc plans you may have. I don't think this sets up apart from a lot of the other lodging in Alaska ....It just makes us one of the pack!
Frank Berry purchased this house in 2007
We are actually in Sterling (10 miles from Soldotna) and we picked this spot for the following reasons: It's about 1 hr and 20 minutes to either Seward or Homer, 30 miles from our door to the Russian River Campground and confluence of the Kenai River, 1 mile from the world famous Kenai River, The Swanson River Canoe Boundary Waters ( 1million acres of protected streams and lakes -no boat motors or float planes) begin 1 mile behind our home, Fred Meyer and the town of Soldotna are only 10 minutes away, and the large amount of wildlife that wander through our yard!!!
I have tried to cater our home to the all around Alaska traveler....the travelers that will be doing it all --fishing, hiking, atving, mt biking, kayaking, boating, sightseeing, fixing meals in the kitchen, if needed ability to stay in touch with the real world. We have done almost all of the activities on the Peninsula and always enjoy giving advice/suggestions to our renters.
Very nice secluded home with lots of privacy. The home easily accommodated our group of six for a weeks stay.
Easy access to all the communities on the Kenai peninsula. All the conveniences of home, just missing internet.
We really enjoyed our stay here. It was larger than we had anticipated. Very well kept, it was also very easy to access and the owner was great to work with. We loved our time here and will be coming back again soon.
Location was good for us and inside the home was well appointed. Housekeeper was sick so wasn't well stocked ( no toilet paper or paper towels) or clean but easily taken care of by us. Outside is unusable. Grown up completly around property except for parking. Owners were responsive by email but don't live in the state so there wasn't much they could do but explain. Overall we would likely choose another location next time so kids and adults could get outside.
This experience was very relaxing for my family and I . We had everything we needed and it was spacious enough for a family like mine with 5 kids . My children enjoyed the fire pit around back where they could roast marshmallows . They loved the jacuzzi tub as well ! The home was a perfect home away from home . We loved that we weren't to far from town and not to far from fishing .
We will definitely be staying here again !!
Cozy and Comfortable! Authentic log cabin home in a sleepy little town not far from anywhere! It was a nice base to visit the surrounding areas. We were unsure of the cabin's location and stopped at the grocery/gas station on our way into town to get directions. The ladies working in the store were great in getting us the directions and we were off. Beds were comfy as well as the furniture and the updated kitchen was a plus! Frank, the owner, could not have been more attentive...he checked on us before and after we arrived and was readily available to answer a few questions we had...he was always as close as the phone...it was a pleasure working with him. We were two couples traveling together and although there were two bathrooms, only one had a shower which we had to share. Being so remote...WIFI was a bit of an issue. However, neither one of those would stop us from returning! Thanks for contributing to our Alaskan adventure and for the opportunity to stay in your home.
Frank's cabin was perfect for our stay. His home was beautiful with plenty of space for 5 of us and a baby! The kitchen was fantastic and location beautifully nestled into the woods and close to great fishing. The storage freezer was a great addition for storing the day's catch. Frank was available and consistently helpful with anything we needed. We hope to come back and stay again! Thank you for the wonderful retreat!
