My family had a wonderful time at this beautiful lake home. The kids as well as adults had an amazing time playing in the lake and enjoying the ammenities provided. We would definately recommend this rental to anyone looking for a nice home away from home.
My family and I really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home. The lake views, especially at sunset were gorgeous! The house was very clean and well stocked, perfect for adults and kids. The owners were nice to deal with and I have no complaints. I would recommed this house to anyone looking for a peaceful place to relax. The fishing was good as well!
What a beautiful escape! We arrived to a beautiful, very clean, and spacious "lake cabin". There was more than enough room for our family of five and the kids loved the spiral staircase. We spent hours playing in the water, took a few canoe trips enjoying the peaceful no-wake rule, watched movies every night and enjoyed a big family gathering for the Fourth of July! The fireworks were everywhere - felt like our own private show as we sat on the dock watching. Thanks again for such a wonderful stay!
We thoroughly enjoyed our two stay. The cabin is lovely and is more than well furnished in every room. Every room was sparkling clean when we arrived. With six of us, we enjoyed time together in the spacious and bright family room overlooking beautiful Diamond Lake. Yet we all had our privacy when we wanted it. Each of the three bedrooms was comfortable and cozy. The cabin was equipped with everything you could possibly need for cooking, eating, bathing, sleeping, and playing on the spacious deck, on the very nice dock, and in the water. We were concerned at first about not having satellite TV or Internet access. We very quickly discovered that it was a blessing. We didn't miss the noise and distraction of a blaring TV set. Instead we were able to watch any of a huge collection of DVD's on either of two wide screen TV's. When we wanted to access the Internet, we made the 8 minute drive to Newport to use any of several public wireless accesses. Without the distraction of TV and the Internet, we were able to enjoy more time on the deck watching the incredibly beautiful Diamond Lake sunsets. We also rented a ski boat, which we were abe to moor at the cabin's more than ample dock. The neighbors on both sides were very friendly and hospitable. We had a wonderful time as did our daughter and two little grand daughters. The two weeks went by way too fast. The experience was definitely worth every penny; we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
We stayed here in July. Our group included 5 adults and 2 small children.
Pros: Everything in the cabin was in new condition. The kitchen was well-equipped and modern. The living area was spacious and comfortable. The views of the lake from the cabin and deck were gorgeous. The beach and swimming area was ideal for children. The lake bottom slopes very gradually away from the shore, so even small children can wade out a ways and splash in the water. The water near the shore was warm.
Cons: The cabin is right on a main road (Highway 2) and the road noise was very loud. The cabin did not have AC when we were there, and the bedrooms were stuffy and hot until after midnight when open windows finally cooled them off. But the open windows let in the road noise. So you were either too hot with the windows closed, or you had to endure the road noise with the windows open.
This home's description was very accurate - overall, we're quite pleased with our experience.
Our first night, we arrived around 9pm and had some trouble finding the house. The house number is unlit, so you have to do a bit of up-close inspection to determine you're at the right place. Something not mentioned in the ad is that the house is on the side of a highway, so searching for the house while driving on the shoulder coule be dangerous. Having said this, it's important to note that the weekend we stayed, Thanksgiving weekend, traffic was VERY light and went largely unnoticed all weekend.
Once we found the house, we had some troubles with the lockbox that were confounded by the lack of exterior lighting. With a little ingenuity and the help of headlights in the driveway, we were able to get into the house without much trouble.
From that point on, the trip was an absolute delight. The owners were highly responsive and helpful from the first inquiry through the last night of our stay. The furniture and appliances are well-appointed and the layout of the house makes it perfect for a group getaway.
Overall, we're very pleased and would stay in this home again.
