Originally built as a sea captain's home in 1835, this charming house situated on 6 acres of oceanfront property has been totally renovated. The location couldn't be better to capture the stunning views of the ocean and the mountains of Acadia National Park. You will have access to a private beach and a boat launch. The house faces Acadia, and offers spectacular views of the sunrise from the master bedroom. The downstairs has been opened up so that one room flows into the other. The large, well-equipped kitchen has an eight foot island with four bar stools, making it easy to prepare meals while socializing with family and friends. Just off the kitchen is a large deck, perfect for outdoor meals and barbecuing. Acadia with its hiking and carriage trails is less than an hour’s drive. You may also wish to explore other lovely towns along the Maine coast such as Blue Hill, Deer Isle, and Castine. Bring your bike, fishing rod, hiking boots, or a book and enjoy the spectacular Stars!

In 2011 my husband and I spent four weeks at Eastlook (name on the house sign). We enjoyed our stay so much that we revisited in 2012 and stayed for six weeks. Every aspect of our stay was phenomenal. The house itself is spacious and well laid out and presented in an immaculate condition. Even though, in those two years we never met the owners, Rob & Laurie, they were responsible and caring landlords. If an issue presented itself, it was taken care of immediately. The kitchen is a cooks dream and has every known spice, cooking utensil, platters and appliances that one could need, are provided.
The house is situated on a peninsula, seven miles from the main road, so any traffic in front of the house is minimum and positively no noise at night. You are halfway between Blue Hill and Ellsworth; both about a 20 minute drive in opposite directions. There are many good restaurants to choose from, in all price categories from pricey to affordable.
Our grandchildren visited for a week both years and there is much to take advantage of within an hour’s drive, both educational and just fun things to do. Of course you could opt to stay home, as we did on many occasions and just take in the beautiful scenery, cool breezes and wonderful meals on the deck. If you are considering a rental in this area, this house has all you will ever need, you can’t lose.
Immaculate, spacious, light filled, airy; kitchen amenities galore; washer-dryer, WiFi Function (could be improved), TV in cozy den. The charm and simplicity of a Captain's house - renovated and modernized.
House keeping provided at end of stay. Lawn maintenance.
Very quiet and peaceful.
Idyllic 4 minute walk to a virtually private beach and calm bay water.
15 minute drive to quaint Blue Hill or Ellsworth. Terrific restaurants and food /wine, general shopping.
Friendly, accommodating owners.
My wife and I did not want to leave…we are heading back next year.

What can I say about this Home!!! My daughter got married on the farm across the street, so we confirmed this house for comfort and closeness to the venue! My, what a beautiful home!!! The views are incredible to wake up to each morning, and if you have never been to Surry Maine, then you are missing something. The house is equipped with everything you need, just bring your clothes, your groceries and settle in for a wonderful vacation on the Maine Coast. The owners have not missed a thing making their home your home while you are there!!!
This is a spectacular setting in which to vacation and this home is a perfect and lovely base from which to explore it. It is comfortable and the amenities are up to date and very tasteful. The property is very well maintained and any questions we had about the services available were quickly and helpfully answered. We hope to summer again next year. The only quibble we had was the slowness of the internet.
What an amazing place to spend the week on the Maine Coast! Right next to Acadia National Park, but away from any noise. You will not be disappointed. Not only is this a private location with amazing views and a well kept property, it is very nicely appointed. PLENTY of cooking utensils, pots and pans, dishes, as well as nicely furnished. The kitchen is set up for easy cooking and plenty of seating. The Master Suite will delight you with stunning views, as well as LOTS of space to just relax or read a book and enjoy your time. I highly recommend this property for groups of any age. The pictures do not do this house justice. We wanted to get away from the city for some peace and quiet as well as be near nature. The views of the water, mountains, trees and a lovely horse were soothing and pretty. We have been renting houses on the Maine coast and Newbury Neck for years and this home is near perfection.
My husband and I found this spacious, well-appointed home to be as beautiful as its scenic location! Being from out of state, we were searching for a place to become our “home” while we hosted an overnight stay for the bridal attendants traveling to our daughter’s wedding. From the moment we pulled in the driveway and unlatched the door, we were smitten by its charm. The home is ultra clean, tastefully decorated, very comfortable, and offers an abundance of seating. The view from the house is spectacular! Due to inclement weather, the photographer took pre-wedding pictures inside the home, and they were just lovely. The owners of the home were wonderful to work with; the information they provided was professional and thorough. Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer!
We stayed in this lovely home on vacation. My husband directs an inner-city Christian ministry. After camp each summer, we travel to various states for a much-needed respite from city life. During the past 10 years, we have visited several national parks. This year, we traveled to Maine to see Acadia National Park. We rented your charming home which provided the perfect retreat for us. The kitchen was spacious and well-stocked with every kind of pot, pan, and gadget needed! I enjoyed cooking several meals there. Hospitably, you left a bottle of maple syrup for us to enjoy. Certainly, we enjoyed it! We were able to explore Acadia during the day and relax in your home at night. We enjoyed making a fire in the back yard and roasting marshmallows and feasting on s'mores the last night we were there. The lobster shack on Newberry Neck Rd. was 2 miles from your home. There, I enjoyed the absolute best lobster roll I've ever tasted! There were plenty of places in your home to eat and sleep and relax. AND there was a precious horse and doggie across the street who our daughters and nieces loved to play with and feed! We would recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy the small-town feel of Maine. Thanks for all you have done to make your guests feel welcome!
This seaside home on Newbury Neck Road in Surry is in an idyllic location for experiencing the breathtaking beauty of Maine. The ocean front property affords panoramic views of the ocean and the mountains of Acadia National Park. You can walk along the rocky shoreline for miles in any direction, combing for shells, or braving the chilly waters for a swim. The Surry Town Beach is a sandy beach a few miles up the Newbury Neck peninsula. There are bicycle and kayak rentals nearby. Mt. Desert Island is an hour’s drive away, offering hiking trails, carriages paths for cycling or horseback riding, Cadillac Mtn., the Jordan Pond House Restaurant, and the lively town of Bar Harbor. Surry is not far from the scenic coastal towns of Blue Hill, Castine, Stonington, and Belfast, where you can enjoy antiquing, art galleries, and more. Ellsworth is a major town only 20 minutes away where you can find grocery stores, restaurants, movie theatres, and a variety of other shops.
