We stayed here for our honeymoon and had a great time! An electrician came the first day for 6 hours but after that we were alone and enjoyed all aspects of the house. The kitchen was great and had everything we needed as far as cooking utensils. There was a washer and dryer that made being there a week easy. The pool was great but the ducks really didnt like sharing. The beach was very close and there was everything literally right around the corner!! We really enjoyed the hot tub. Christa, the owner, was so sweet and very easy to work with and I would love to go back and stay there again.

Owner's Response: This was not the first "honeymoon" couple.... the house and backyard setting is very private and shielded from neighbors ,so therefor it really makes a wonderful "honeymoon suite"... PS: the electrician was there because the couple had cancelled first ( that's when I called for the electrician) but then they decided to come. With their permission I did keep the electrician on appointment which was a good thing, because we discoverd an additional item that needed attention....I am avoiding any repairs ( large or small) during times when my guests are in. Thank you for understanding.

Adorable, Clean, Small Home.

We were told repeatedly that the closest beach was 15 minutes away. We go to Florida for the beaches, and to go shelling. The closest beach is Englewood & it took a good 35 minutes without traffic - with traffic it could take 45 minutes to an hour. It was my fault for not looking it up myself so I won't hold that against my review. Also, where the canal is right behind the house (which is beautiful and great for fishing) there were mosquitos everywhere, all hours of the day. As far as the house itself goes, it is very clean, well stocked, and perfect for 4 people and maybe a school aged child to sleep on the couch. We had 8 people in a 2 bedroom home (our fault) but we cuddled up and made it through the week just fine. Jack was super duper sweet and accommodating. He brought over two cots for my smaller kids, but unfortunately one of them was old and broke. I would not recommend trying to fit more people than recommended. The road is right off the main highway where all the stores and restaurants are. Very secluded yet 1/4 mile or less from anything you need. We saw a black snake in the bushes near the gazebo two days in a row, and we caught an alligator in the canal which was super awesome and exciting! If you're looking for a quiet small place, where you can relax, fish, and you don't care how close you are to beaches and have a good working can of bug spray - this place is a great choice. I can't forget to comment on the swimming pool, which was absolutely amazing and beautiful. It fit all 8 of us perfectlyr and was always the perfect temperature during the day and at night. Jack would come every morning and clean it, or work in his office, cut the grass, take trash to road, etc but we never were bothered by him and we loved having short sweet conversations with him. He made sure we didn't have any extra work to do. I gave this a 5 star rating because the house was exactly as described minus the mini ping pong table which wasn't there but is listed in the description (no biggy). Any negative elements that I've listed is due to personal opinion, or is my fault for not clarifying more detailed location aspects, etc. Overall, it was a great stay with a great host! I'll be staying closer to the shore next time around though!

Fantastic get- away

  • 5 of 5

Great place! The location was very convenient to everything. We loved having the pool, hot tub and the canal. I have family in the Fort myers, Lehigh and Clearwater areas, it was easy for everyone to get there for a family gathering, and everyone could enjoy the pool(although it was a little on the cool side, warmed up the second week of my stay, very refreshing)The canal was enjoyable to sit by and watch the fish jump while enjoying a glass of wine or having a morning cup of coffee. Jack and Christa are very accommodating and pleasant to deal with. We actually wanted to stay again next year but unfortunately they are already booked. Thank you so much Jack and Christa, and remember, if you have a cancellation for next year, please let me know. Very enjoyable!!!!!

Very Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in Port Charlotte. The house was located on a canal and Jack purchased a fishing pole and bait so that my husband could fish. I fractured my ankle 4 weeks prior to arrival, so I was somewhat limited in my activities. Although the pool was too cool to swim in, I took advantage of the newly purchased outdoor furniture and did a lot of reading and relaxing by the pool in the lounge chairs. Christa and Jack were concerned about my ankle and were willing to do anything they could to help me. Our nine year old Labrador retriever enjoyed laying in the sun in the fenced in backyard. There were many plants and vegetation in the backyard, making it very private. The house was well stocked with everything we needed. We have been to several locations in Southwest Florida and found the people of Port Charlotte to be the most friendliest people around. As we were walking around in the neighborhood, people would come up to us and start a conversation. Thank you Christa and Jack for a great time.

Nice property---could use some improvements

  • 4 of 5

Enjoyed the property, everything was well maintained---pool and hot tub were clean, but due to the cool weather couldn't take advantage of the pool--spent some time in the hot tub. since we were seniors had some problems getting in and out of tub and the toilet was quite low for us, but we managed. Thanks for sharing your property -----Landis and Connie

We stayed for a week & did NOT want to leave! This is an older home with the combination of privacy and "real Florida" charm that I don't think can be found at any price in a hotel or condo. The ceiling in the open-concept main area is high and, combined with the ample windows & white walls & tiled floor, the impression upon entering is airy, bright and cheerful. The kitchen was well stocked, as was the linen closet, & everything in the place was in good working order (appliances, TVs, A/C, hot tub, grill, etc.). The furniture in my bedroom was new and the bed was extremely comfortable; my travelling companion was quite satisfied with her bedroom, as well. As there were no photos of the (only) bathroom, I was curious what we might find. What we found was a basic 3-piece with vintage "Florida pink" fixtures - the sink & commode are shorter than we are used to, but that was part of the charm! More importantly: it was immaculate (really, the whole place was immaculate) and the water pressure in the shower was phenomenal! Lots of places to eat meals - a high top table by the kitchen, the dining room, a large table by the pool, a table and chairs in the gazebo, and a concrete table with 2 small benches on the patio by the dock - plus a small, lightweight table and chairs that we carried down to eat right on the dock. I also must give kudos for the well-kept mature foliage and generally well planned landscaping of the back yard. We had a small glimpse the waterway from the pool and hot tub, yet still had complete privacy. The tiki torches around the pool lent a magical feel at night. And all of this was in a quiet neighborhood that was within a mile or two of just about any store you could ever need. If you go, be sure to check out Stump Beach (about 20 miles away, on the gulf) and, also, there's a hotel in Punta Gorda (can't remember the name) that has a roof-top bar with a pool & fire pits & a great view that is worth visiting. Oh, and the shed had fishing poles & bikes you can use - great for going to the pier, about 4 miles away. And the paddle boat at the dock was fun to cruise around in, too. The owner is lovely and easy to deal with. Jack came by several mornings to do chores (cleaned the pool, took out the trash, etc.) but he came and went very quietly. Dog owners: fencing is not sufficient to secure a tiny dog or an escape artist. There's a dog park .7 mi. away. Very friendly people! Loved our visit!!! Big bang for the buck!!! Ten thumbs up!
