About the property

3 Bedrooms, luxury bath and shower rooms, balcony, views, woodburner, sleeps 6

Newly renovated to a very high standard, this apartment is set over two floors in a traditional stone chalet in the heart of the old village of Le Tour, providing excellent self-catering accommodation for both summer and winter rentals. The apartment provides perfect access to the many exciting winter and summer activities for which the valley is famed. It is a two minute walk to both the nursery slopes and the Le Tour cable car which gives access to excellent intermediate skiing and snowboarding. Argentiere, with its demanding runs and some of the best off-piste skiing in Europe, is a short five minute drive away. The apartment has benefited from recent refurbishment yet retains its traditional charm and features. It would provide the perfect base for families or couples looking to explore the valley. Our excellent English and French speaking agent will meet and greet you and be on hand during your stay to help and advise you.

Winter in the Chamonix valley.: Some of the best and most demanding skiing and snowboarding in the world is to be found in the valley, with some 200 lifts and 600kms of pistes. For intermediates and experts some of the longest and steepest runs are to be found at the Grand Montets (3200m) in Argentiere as well as at the Aiguille du Midi (3825m) in Chamonix itself. Le Tour offers excellent conditions for beginners and intermediates alike and is ideal for a family holiday. Because of the situation the quality of the snow remains good until late in the season. For those who prefer cross-country skiing there are a number of trails in the valley. In addition, Le Tour boasts more sunshine than any other part of the valley!

Summer in the Chamonix valley: The valley is equally fabulous in the summer as in winter! Chamonix is the centre for mountaineering in Europe and houses the French mountaineering school. In addition, there are opportunities for the adventurous to try their hand at canoeing, white water rafting, mountain biking and paragliding. The summer luge (kids of all ages love this!) and the Foret d'Aventure (trails with ropes up in the trees) can be found in Chamonix. If you prefer your pursuits a little gentler, there are walks and hikes of varying lengths and difficulties. Many of the cable cars are open during the summer months so that everyone can enjoy the spectacular panoramas of Mont Blanc and the neighbouring peaks. Two tramways operate - to the Mer de Glace (largest glacier in Europe) from Chamonix and the St Gervais Tramway affording fantastic views of Mont Blanc. There are also nature reserves within a few miles, plus the more usual tennis, swimming and horse riding.

What else?: Le Tour is ideally situated for exploring a little further afield. Switzerland is just a short drive away and Italy is easily accessible via the Mont Blanc Tunnel. If you prefer to stay put, Chamonix has much to recommend it - a wide variety of shops, cafes and restaurants, with weekend markets in both Chamonix and Argentiere.

Guestbook comments from the owner

> Upon arriving at the apartment we were greeted by Alison, who familiarized us with the accommodation and surrounding area. She answered our questions and told us that he was only a phone call away and at our service at all times.

>

> Using the apartment for our skiing holiday, my wife, children and I thoroughly enjoyed our time in Le Tour and the other ski areas of Chamonix. The apartment, with its lovely views of the mountains through the picture windows and masses of snow, is just as captivating as the web photos. It was equally sparkling and comfortable, equipped with the accoutrements we needed. The villa was far more spacious than four people would require and we enjoyed the luxury of having our own space.

>

> The skiing was fabulous. Le Tour is known as being the easier of the ‘intermediate’ ski areas of Chamonix, with great opportunities for off-piste exploration. We made full use of this. We made trips by car to nearby Argentiere for the restaurants some nights and our favourite was ‘The Office.’ We also cooked a lot as the kitchen is perfect is this. .

>

> For me, the best thing about the apartment is that it is almost ski-ski out which is very rare in Chamonix area. Ann doesn’t advertise this as skiers are meant to remove skis before travelling the 100 yards from the Vormaine lifts to the front door (but we didn‘t!)

>

> Since Le Tour is so high in the mountains, we found we certainly needed to have snow chains or snow socks on the car, if only to get in & out of the parking spaces. They were not really needed on the main roads as these were efficiently cleared.

>

> Overall, we loved the apartment and hope to return one day soon, maybe in the summer.

Notes:
The apartment is on two levels on floors one and two of the chalet. On the first floor is the open plan living area with comfortable sofa and chairs, flat-screen satelite TV and Dominique Imbert designed spherical suspended wood burning stove. Large French doors lead to a spacious balcony. Off this is the dining area with large wooden table and chairs and, to one side, a newly fitted and well equipped kitchen with granite worktop and Bosch appliances. The master bedroom, bathroom and WC are also on this floor. Upstairs are two further bedrooms and a luxury shower room. One houses a large double bed and has wonderful views down the valley to Mont Blanc. The other has twin beds. This spacious apartment has recently been refitted to a very high standard. The balcony has a table and 4 chairs for outside dining.

Stunning property. Well designed and presented.

  • 5 of 5

The property is fantastic as it is very roomy and well designed. It has been recently redecorated and was very clean and comfortable. The sky light and fire place were an especially attractive feature.

There was plenty of room for storage and the kitchen was very well equipped.

The apartment is quite and tranquil which made it a very relaxing stay. The bedrooms were a very good size and the beds were very comfortable.

Overall we had a fabulous stay in this apartment and would definitely return for another visit.

Perfect chalet in the perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Our first ski holiday in over 15years and a perfect place to go. The chalet is located right on the slopes with access to the nursery slopes and numerous other runs within a couple of minutes walk and you really can ski back right to the front door - no need to join the bus loads of people being shuttled to and fro each day. The chalet has been beautifully renovated with every home comfort you would need and a log fire for the end of a long day on the slopes.

Ann was really helpful in helping us organize our holiday from airport transfers to ski lessons, ski hire and restaurant recommendations.

A perfect week away - just wish it could have been longer. We look forward to returning.

Fabulous, well situated 3 bedroom chalet

  • 5 of 5

Safe arrival after driving from England to a well equipped, clean, warm and homely chalet. Not much snow on arrival but enough during stay to ski. Free bus to other pistes in the valley widen the ski area. Plenty of lovely restaurants in Argentiere which also has yummy bakery and supermarket with all the basics. If you want to venture further into Chamonix then there is plenty more. Male swimmers don't forget your skimpies for the pool. Would definitely recommend to friends and mobile family.

Great location

  • 5 of 5

We have been to Chamonix several times in the past and this was by far the best location and most fun. The apartment is great and has everything you need. You can walk to the lifts at Le Tour and ski back to the apartment. The bus stop is a stones throw away and gets you to Les Grand Montets within 15 minutes. Le Tour is a great place to relax and really enjoy the area. We'll come back and stay here in the future for sure.

Very comfortable, well located chalet

  • 4 of 5

We had an excellent week, nothing like coming back to this chalet after a good days skiing to a warm boot room, log burner, comfy sofa and a hot shower/bath. Ski in/ski out very close to the piste - very well fitted out and very comfortable - we hope to be back again.
