Couldn't have picked a better time of the year to be at the lake. We found everything (and I mean everything) you would have wanted or needed available to us. The location of this property was perfect. The close proximity to major tourist sites was a plus but then you had the serenity of the lake right at your back door. We went looking for adventure but also quiet time and found both at this location. The rental process was a breeze and owners were VERY accommodating! We will defintely return to Downeast Maine again!
Beautiful views of the lake! Didn't enjoy the musty smell in the house or the fact that there appeared to be some sort of rodent occupying the home as well. Left a day early instead of being stuck inside on a rainy day.
My boyfriend and I traveled from San Francisco to stay in this fantastic home with my cousins, who traveled from New Jersey. My boyfriend is originally from this area and my cousins really wanted to spend some time here. So we searched and boy are we glad we found this place! The house is perfect for a large family. We all had enough space to have some privacy but enough common space to share our time together. The location was great for checking out all of the local attractions. And the amenities are fantastic for just chilling at the house. The lake itself is so peaceful - and the fish were really biting! The sunsets are beautiful. And the fire pit is perfect for s'mores and nightly chats and laughs. I highly recommend this house. And the owners are wonderful to work with. Overall it's a fantastic experience and we all can't wait to go back!
The cottage was a great place for us. The river was small enough to allow the kids to use the boat, canoe and kayaks alone without going out of site. The fishing for all ages was great. The layout allowed all the children to be upstairs playing while the adults prepared dinner and later relaxed in the downstairs area. We also had a fire each nite to reminisce on the days activities. The Whiting/ Lubec area is great for taking scenic walks along the Maine coastline. Quoddy point especially. We enjoyed the lack of commercialization. Small towns and good dinning areas are better then the chain stores. You need the trail map to find the most unusual places, some trails are better maintained then other, but once you get to the destination they're amazing sites to see.
We had such a wonderful time at the this home in Whiting Maine. The house was very nice and worked out well with our family. We loved being right at the Lake, especially our teenagers who enjoyed fishing until their hearts content! Everything was so peaceful, we basically had the whole lake to ourselves. Just what we needed as a family! Thank you! Lititz PA
My husband and I, along with our two dogs, stayed at the Orange Lake for 10 wonderful days in September 2010. We couldn't ask for a better rental. We have been renting homes in the summer/fall for several years and with this rental there were no disappointments. The house was exactly as we expected, except that the area around the house was more beautiful than we imagined. The house had a beautiful view of Orange Lake from virtually every room in the house, the master bedroom was especially beautiful with a king size bed and huge windows to view the lake, making it very difficult to leave in the morning! We especially loved the privacy. We rented this home expecting it to be "away from it all" and it definitely was, located on a private road with very quiet neighbors. The Setley's were fantastic to deal with and if it wasn't for the house being 9.5 hours away, we would go there all the time. We look forward to our next trip to this awesome retreat!!
