This prime beachfront home on the famous Banzai Pipeline is one of the deepest beaches in Hawaii, is privacy gated with 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, two story home with beachfront decks on two levels. Built in 1992 by owner, its clean, light colored tiles and carpet is still one of the better homes on the North Shore offered for rent. The home allows more privacy having the second story with its own family room and 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The first floor has the living room, kitchen 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
From November through March, the North Shore's winter waves attracts world class surfers from around the world. While spectacular, caution is advised. The beach in front of the house extends a long way beyond Sunset Beach, with a high concentration of the world's greatest surf spots and ocean. A life guard stand is in front of our neighbor's house, providing guidance.
The nearby town of Haleiwa is most charming with innumerable art galleries, shave ice, shops and restaurants. In the other directions is the Turtle Bay Resort, with golf, tennis, restaurants and very nice beaches as well.

You have heard about whining to a spouse saying 'when are you going to get me a spot on a number 10 beach' (rated from 1 to 10). Well we looked for many years and finally found the perfect spot on a high noll in front of Rock Piles. We then tore down the old house owned by a Hollywood movie writer, so we could build the nicest possible house on this lot. This house has been the spot for writers, photographers, surf industry and other surfing affcionados during the high surf season. Then the rest of the year from March to early November it is great for those who are more timid in the ocean. Anytime its great to sit on the deck and read a good book while watching and hearing the crashing waves.
Rai Chu purchased this house in 1992
This has always been my favorite area of Hawaii - a great beach town with great restaurants, art galleries, interesting shops, great shaved ice and most of all great & beautiful beaches. These beaches have charisma. I wanted a # 10 (rated from 1-10) as far as beaches go and found my paradise here. It is a total get away, very quiet and serene, while during world class surfing events and big wave season, it is difficult to find parking or a place to hang your hat. You can be very satisfied that you have this place to rest and relax.
The beach from our house goes on forever for long walks and sight seeing, shelling, swimming or just watching the surfers, boats or other beach goers. Directly in front of our house is 'Rock Piles' where you can sit between the rocks and let the waves crash over you. The best time of day is the hour or two before sunset, when the sun is low in the sky and casts a golden glow on the beach. Then we stop everything to watch the sunset on the horizon ... just another perfect day in paradise.
We are having the time of our lives, not only having our family all together, but this is a perfect place and truly delightful and beautiful. We love this beach and will be back, most certainly.
My family and I spent the 4th of July holiday at this beach bungalow. (5 adults, and 2 teens, 2 pre-teens) I can't say enough about this property! It was everything we wanted and more! We suggest taking the longer route (only 15 minutes further) to get to the house that is on the coast. It is a beautiful route! Don't forget to stop at Gionne's shrimp truck about 5 to 10 minutes from the house. We had garlic shrimp and also ordered the corn on a stick from another stand! This a must stop....you won't regret it!! We fell in love with the property the minute we pulled up! The owner was great to work with and as the keeper of the property. They even stopped by to clean the hot tub one day and gave us ideas of places to visit, etc. The house is on a quiet little street and close to a grocery store and food trucks. The Foodland down the street is great for quick stops, however, we preferred the Foodland 10 miles away for bigger selection on meat and fruit. There are several farmer's markets close to the house as well. Ted's café (2-3 miles away)has great coffee and pastries as well! We also loved the waffles at the food trucks by the house. The shaveice stand close to the house is awesome! We probably went back 6 times that week! The owners at North Shore surf shop are awesome. We paddle'd up the river (Manu Oke Kai) and let the kids jump off the bridge. We also snorkeled at shark's cove right by the house. There were a ton of great fish and we even got to see many turtles. All the kids working at this shop are fun and all the activities are wonderful. My daughter even lost her phone at a stand and they returned it to us the next day! We traveled to Waikiki for a day to the beach and wished that we would have just stayed at North Shore. We hiked up to the waterfall (Waimea) and it is a breathtaking walk! We also liked the beach at Waimea Bay Beach Park. The kids loved jumping off the cliffs, over and over. We literally grilled every day. The yard is great for entertaining....decks, hot tub, grill, table, etc. The beach is literally like your own private beach. Waves are big but so awesome to see, you can walk further down to calmer water. If you like exercise, you can run on the beach or there are great bike paths close. We loved the hot tub in the yard under the tree. What a relaxing way to spend your evening after the beach. The whole property, including Trish and Rai are FANTASTIC! It was a magical vacation!!!!!
My husband and I wanted to re live our 25th anniversary vacation to Oahu, that we shared with our kids and best friends. This though was my son and his wife's 5th Anniversary. Last time we stayed in Honalulu, and drove to the north shore every day, we wanted to stay right there this time. Just steps away from The rock pile, Off the wall, Back door and best of all Bonzai Pipeline.
Rai your house was perfect for the 10 of us, let me tell you the pictures do no do the house justice, we had plenty of room and I can not give Trish enough thanks for her help she gave us when it was needed.
We have a lot of great cooks in our family and the kitchen was well equipped and provided everything we needed. Foodland, Ted's Bakery and that fish-stand just down the road on the way to Turtle Bay provided the best fish we have ever had ,fresh marlin and ahi tuna at a great price.
We had plenty of linens and towels and it was great having the washer and dryer.
Thanks again Rai we all can't wait to come back.
Our family of 7 stayed very comfortably in this beautifully furnished and comfortable home. From the moment you walk in the door, you will be impressed. It is clean, tidy, and attractively furnished. Everything you might need to cook is available and we were surprised at how generous previous guests had been by leaving their extra and unused spices, salad dressings as well as sunscreen, aloe vera gel, etc. Each room is equipped with working fans which were very much welcomed on the first day and then no longer absolutely necessary because the windows were opened to allow the constant ocean breezes to flow throughout the home. There were plenty of beach and bath towels and a brand new washer if needed. The upstairs is huge and the view from the bedroom is incredible! We loved hearing the waves at night. I can't say enough about the view from the porch! We spent a lot of time out there talking, eating, laughing, and enjoying the majestic ocean waves. The location of this home is ideal- close to Foodland, Ted's bakery (the best coffee on the island-truly), Shark's cove (snorkel) is within walking distance, eateries are near Foodland, and downtown Haleiwa isn't far. Sometimes the waves very strong directly outside the house but if we walked a little bit down the beach, it wasn't as rough. There is a lifeguard station very very close, too. The beach was NEVER crowded and we felt it was our own :) If there is anything ever needed, a quick text will answer your question as Tricia is very kind and responsive. All in all, this was a magical vacation- one that will forever live in our memories.
We had a dream vacation. The house accommodated 9 of us perfectly. We especially liked the kitchen/dining area, porch, and of course the wonderful location on the beach. The kids, body surfed, snorkeled, and found lots of sea glass. A week went by way to quick and we definitely want to come back. Thanks, Rai, you were great to work with.
Rental process was super easy. House was spotless when we arrived. It was well stocked with virtually everything needed to enjoy your stay - from cooking tools to beach towels. The house was very spacious & the beds were very comfortable. Location is really beautiful. Ocean views are really spectacular, with the sunsets especially great! My wife wanted to hear the waves at night & boy did this place deliver! The beach was gorgeous with hardly anyone on it in any direction - Water was warm, clean, clear & full of fish.
With the supermarket (Foodland) so close & many local producers selling fresh fruit, vegetables & fish all along the hwy, we took advantage of the well furnished kitchen & BBQ'd most of the time - plus we were hard pressed to find any prettier place to eat.
The week went by way too fast. We're now all talking about when we will come back!
Let me begin to say that over the past 15 years I have stayed at some truly remarkable properties (as a member of Wyndham Vacation Resorts which have some spectacular properties) in nearly 20 visits to all the major Hawaiian islands. The overall location and amenities of the Banzai Beach House definitely rank at the top of any of the other properties at which I stayed. The previous reviews of this property on this website are spot on and need not be repeated. The photographs and description of this listing are totally correct but truly do not do justice to this property.
Our family of 9 (seven in the age range of 40-70, one 18 yr old and one 4 yr old) were easily and comfortably accommodated in this clean 4 BR, 3 bath home. We corresponded with Rai, the owner, numerous times prior to our stay and she was always prompt and courteous in answering our questions. The furnishings and amenities included were great without being conspicuous. The fronting beach extends 'forever' in both directions. Great snorkeling and diving for all can be found a short distance ( one mile or less) away at Sharks Cove, swimming is great at Wiamea Bay and Sunset Beach about 2 miles away.
For those who may be somewhat concerned about the Google photo's showing construction activity at the property immediately to the north of the beach house be advised that this construction is completed and not to be of a concern.
Do be prepared however for periods of high traffic on Kamehameha Road on the four mile stretch between the property and Haleiwa. Unfortunately this is the price to be paid for the numerous beautiful beaches which are easily accessible from and along the highway.
Turtle Bay Hilton nearby with tennis, golf, horseback riding and great restaurants. Polynesian Cultural Center further on road about 15 minutes drive together with Brigham Young Univ. and Morman Church. They have really improved their shows and cultural displays as one of the foremost Polynesian entertainment in the Pacific.
The area has many dining opportunities with varied cuisine, as well as casual outdoor eating by the beach or by the country road.
