Gorgeous spot - perfect for our honeymoon
My wife and I chose this place to stay for our honeymoon, and we couldn't be happier.
First, before I talk about the apartment, you should know that Old San Juan is 100% ready for tourists. We never had a problem with water, electricity, nor safety -- in fact, the water pressure here is better than at our house in Philadelphia.
As for the apartment, it was a perfect place in the middle of Old San Juan. We could get anywhere in 15 minutes or less, which also meant we could always stop back home to drop off purchases or freshen up. All of the furniture was extremely comfortable, especially the bed (whose linens were incredibly comfortable). The shower and bathroom were a good size, and the kitchen was also laid out well. We couldn't use the stove range as there was an issue with it, but the issue was communicated in advance as well as a plan to address it during our stay, which we declined (as we were on honeymoon and planned to eat out each day).
Yes, the garbage trucks came each morning at 5:30am, but that is true everywhere on the island. Honestly, it wasn't bad; coming from a large city we only noticed because we arrived on the island super early on the first day.
Finally, Andreas and Kim were responsive and understanding. We needed help finding a place for our luggage while we ran around PR on our last day, and they went well above and beyond accommodating us.
We fell in love with Puerto Rico on this trip, and a huge part of it was the beauty of Azul Adoquin. We hope to stay here on our next trip!
Thank you for this great review!
Yes, PR is 90% back to normal :)
We take great pride in keeping the apartment clean and cozy.
The location is unbeatable, right in the middle of the upper Old San Juan, next to one of the main plazas (Plaza de Armas) where there is 24 hour security 7 days a week.
As for the city noise, we provide clean new ear plugs to our guests, they are placed inside the medicine cabinet in the bathroom.
Welcome back anytime!
Great Place in the Old City
A great neighborhood to discover Old City San Juan. A public square full of interesting people. Grocery, several sandwich shops. Quite comfortable one bedroom apt upstairs. Parking was down the street three minutes walk. And you got to have the parking thing sorted out... Narrow streets and few open places generally. Thank you Azul!
Dropped a star due to appliances. Refrigerator cools but does not freeze and electric stove needs a bit of attention. Each in their time?
appliances are being replaced for new ones.
Nice restoration, excellent location
Overall a very nice if somewhat overpriced rental for my week's stay. Location in middle of Old San Juan was perfect. The apartment is in restored older building, very nicely done, everything worked OK. There are 24 steps up to the apartment and a further 43 steps up to the roof top, from which there is a very appealing view over the rooftops and of the stars; not great, tho', if you are troubled by climbing steps. The apartment is very spacious with the exception of the bathroom which is cramped. I had three criticisms: the refrigerator did not keep things cold, so warm beer and sour dairy products resulted, the back rests on the sofa kept failing off (not attached) if leaned against, and for upward of $200 a night I would expect a better TV package (very basic, no popular cable shows like CNN, ESPN, CNBC, Bloomberg, MSNBC, NBCSN, etc.).
Only contact with the owners was by e-mail, no problems overall.
Great Place to Stay! Convenient, Clean & As Advertised!
I had a great time in Old San Juan / Puerto Rico. Staying in this apartment most certainly made my time all the better. The property is exactly as described/photographed and every inch of the place is spotless. Conveniently located, it is in the middle of Old San Juan, surrounded by shopping districts, restaurants & cafes -All within minutes (or less) from the door. There is a grocery store literally one block away so I could utilize the apartment's fully-equiped kitchen. There is a keyless electronic passcode for each the outer door and the apartment -useful for visitors needing to split up without coordinating key access. There is a significant police presence in the area (two officers were stationed 24/7 right outside the door to the building during my entire trip). The locals are all very kind and helpful; Kim was a delight to meet and (upon request) provided me with the names of some of her favorite local restaurants. As others have commented, there is significant outside noise as the apartment is situated in the lively bustle of Old San Juan -but I feel this is sort of the point, to be immersed in the action of the city. Use earplugs if necessary -the hum of the (amazing) air conditioners will also assist to mask some of the activity. As an additional note, the UBER service in the area is top-notch; great drivers, timely, clean, helpful. Also, for T-Mobile users, I had a full, perfect signal the entire time.
All-in-all, I would stay here again without hesitation. Thanks Kim! :)
I feel the majic is in how an ancient city is still so lively and with all modern facilities without loosing its charm.
Beautiful apartment but......
The apartment is beautiful & the location was near everything that I love most about Old San Juan. However it's a very busy street I read a review before I booked that said the garbage trucks wake you up early. The garbage trucks start at 5:30 am the street cleaners shortly after. There is also construction work on 2 streets they start at 7 am. My recommendation is use ear plugs for sleeping. I will say Kim & her assistant were attentive to our questions. In short if you want to sleep in not happening here.
We provide clean new ear plugs to all our guests.
Old San Juan is a very active city day and night.
Amazing location and perfect apartment!
The location is absolutely perfect! Right next to a main plaza with plenty of restaurants, bars, and activities within walking distance. You feel as if you're a part of Old San Juan and not just a tourist. The 3 balconies and rooftop deck provide a ton of opportunities for people watching and offer a nice breeze. The apartment is very well maintained and clean with beautiful furnishings. Kim was a great host and allowed us to check out late. Definitely will be staying here again!
Thank you for your appreciation of all our efforts to provide a high quality experience.
The property is located in the historic center of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Walking the streets surrounded by buildings of colonial architecture transports you to the Columbine era. A five minute walk and you reach the two impressive Spanish forts: El Castillo del Morro and Castillo San Cristobal. Also, the streets are full of museums, art galleries and craft shops. For a culinary experience, there is an immense variety of restaurants and pubs.
