Comfortable as Home
The house had plenty of room for our three couples. Beds were very good. The kitchen had everything you would need and more. The location was good to explore the Maine coast. Lots of helpful information on site seeing, restaurants, and local stores. We loved being able to walk to McLoon’s for lobstah!
Awesome amenities and comfortable house. First floor living is great. Half bath was great. Internet service was great. Karen was very attentive. Quite place to relax.
We had a lovely time and our hosts were very responsive. Fluffy pillows and towels, plus comfy beds - my favorite!
Quite and lovely home.
We loved the home, had all the comforts and soooo much better than hotels. It was a little more remote than what we desired, only because we hail from very remote areas. As it was October the local places to eat were closed for the season, which I was disappointed in but you were not far from some great restaurants. Would definitely stay here again if we were to be in that area. Highly recommend Karen as she is very accommodating and provides you with plenty of information for the area.
Home Away from Home
It would be hard to find better owners to rent from than Karen and Brian. Not only was the house cute and roomy, but they supplied all the essentials you could possible need and then some! Karen was always in touch sending articles about things to see and do during our visit. You can't go wrong visiting Maine, and their hospitality was just the icing on the cake!
Peaceful Sojourn along the Maine Coast
This was our third stay at Crest House. A decade ago, we and our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Leo spent delightful weeks during two consecutive summers at this lovely house that sits on a hill in the center of Spruce Head Island. But we had not returned to Maine for 10 years and when we decided to return this summer with our 2-year-old terrier Kenzie, there was no doubt about where to stay. What makes Crest House special is that while its interior is charmingly homey and its immediate surroundings are soothingly quiet, its proximity to an array of activities--the Maine lobster enterprise, the art and theater scenes in Rockland and Camden, some excellent restaurants, access by ferry to other islands like Fox and Monhegan, a terrific and secluded beach in Birch Point State Park, and historical sites such as Fort Knox to the north and Marshall Point Lighthouse--assures that guests will get out and about and truly immerse themselves in the Mid-Coastal Maine experience.
The owners of Crest House, Karen and Brian Smith, go out of their way to make a stay at their property a rich and memorable one. Karen is a terrific source of voluminous information that will aid in planning ways to fill one's stay there. Brian is literally 'on call' to troubleshoot any technical issues that might arise. In fact, the care we receive from afar from the Smiths was a major reason we wanted to return to Crest House this July: we knew we were in for an experience in which worries would be minimal and enjoyment would essentially be guaranteed. To top it off, Karen had some great news. Just a 10-minute walk or one-minute drive down the hill to the water a new (to us, but it's been there a few years now) lobster shack, McLoons, which serves up, along with other seafood treats, one of the best lobster rolls in Maine. Now if that's not an enticement....
