This secluded creek side cottage is the perfect getaway located in the picturesque town of Guerneville; heart of the Sonoma Valley Wine Country. Just down the road from Korbel Champagne winery (and 130+ other wineries), Guerneville offers a year round retreat from the city hustle among the redwoods. Cherry Cottage is the perfect place to unwind and spend a relaxing weekend or special holiday. Warm up by the fireplace, curl up and watch your favorite movie on a fabulous 37' LCD screen inside while the hot tub bubbles outside or perhaps you can write that overdo novel or just melt and relax with a glass of local chardonnay while listening to the creek trickle by outside on the deck outside under the stars.

Or if you get stir crazy indoors, or grab the bike for a quick ride into town.

Johnson's Beach is just a 1/2 a mile away where the main summer fun on the river takes place with paddle boat and canoe rentals or just a lazy sun bathing day on the beach.

About Lydia

I purchased this property 8 years ago as a retreat for my daughters and I from the fog of the city. It is our 'home' in the country and allows us to breath and relax. We hope it does the same for you.

Lydia purchased this cottage in 2007

Perfect getaway in Guerneville

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is very conveniently located in a redwood forest, pet friendly, close to downtown & short drive to the coastal beaches and zip lining as well. The deck is great with an outdoor hot tub and bbq as well.

Lydia was extremely helpful in addressing all of our requirements / answering all our questions prompltly.

Highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I'm glad you had a good time and got to do the zip lining 😊. I wish I would have known about the candles and fragrance, I would have arranged to taken them out. All the best, Lydia

Cottage conveniently located in Guerneville nestled in forest.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed three nights and found the accomodations perfect for our family of 4. Located 2-3 mins drive from downtown Guerneville (walking 10 mins) and nestled in a charming redwood/Douglas fir forest. Wonderful back deck with hot-tub under the trees. Pet friendly also!

We'll be coming back to explore the area further. A great base camp!

Major disappointment

  • 1 of 5

They only give you 2500 letter to express yourself. It is not enough . This is my second attempt to write a shorter review. Basically this place was terrible. Owner was no help because she was in France and we where not made aware of that until we found we had major problems. No heat for day and a half. Toxic hot tub that caused rashes, chemical burns, gold and silver jewelry to turn black. Lungs to burn. Owner said this was from being sensitive to bromide!!! That is not correct! I Have used and owned hot tubs. Never experienced anything like this. We where here for 4 night after Christmas 2 of those days where spent trying to get warm and looking for a new place to stay. Yes when we did get in contact with the owner she offered us a refund, we wanted to take her up on it, but sadly due to the holiday, there was no where else for us to stay. Believe me we tried. Again wasting our vacation time looking for lodging! After we returned home I tried to contacted the owner. she got back to me after about a week and a half said sorry we where not happy she said I offered you a refund if we chose to leave, but since we did not there was nothing else she could do. So all I can say is please be careful if you rent this place. There are ants. Always had to make sure we left no food out. Found them crawling on me as I sat on the couch. Dishwasher had duct tap on it saying don't use. It was pretty unsanitary when opened. The owner does not let you know she is away and can not help with any issues you have like why is this place 40 degrees when you get here. Believe me I have never written a review like this. We are three adult women, we have been going away after Christmas for over 10 years. Have never had this kind of experience. One of the things we really enjoy is the hot tub. We paid good money for something we could not use, and where then made to feel that the chemical burn and chemical read of hot tub that was off the charts. ( l sent pictures of both to the owner). That this was skin sensitivity to bromide. I believe it was much more than that! Needless to say this was not a good experience, but the owner is sorry and that is all she can do. Renter beware!

Owner's Response: I am sorry you were not happy with your stay. As I mentioned on several occasions, my main priority was that you enjoyed your stay. As soon as I received your text, I responded immediately to address your concerns. The property is heated by a gas fireplace. Sometimes it will take a while to heat if it is unusually cold outside, that is why there are space heaters in each room to keep you comfortable. I personally visited the property 1 week prior to and after your stay and everything was working perfectly, including the hot tub. As I mentioned, if my cleaner (whom I have had for 6 years), put too much bromine in the floater, I suggested to drain some of the water and refill it to dilute any chemicals that may be too strong. After our communications and ensuring you were alright with remaining on the property, I did not hear from you and assumed you enjoyed your stay. They was no mention of any other problems. There has been no mention or evidence of ants from any other guests or my cleaner. When I returned from vacation, I received your email,, but as I mentioned, it would take me a while to response as I was dealing with the emergency flooding in Guerneville that was taking place. As you know, I offered to refund you completely, even after your first night, give you a free weekend stay at a time when the weather was warmer, I even asked what I could do to help rectify any problems, yet I never received any feedback from you. I don't minimize any of your concerns, but I'm not sure what additionally I could have done. This is my vacation home, not just a rental.. I take a lot of pride in welcoming others when they stay. It has always been my priority to ensure my guests enjoy their stay, I am disappointed that was not your experience but I feel I was responsive and did everything I could to ensure you enjoyed your time at my home.

Memorial day weekend

  • 5 of 5

What a great cottage! It's cozy and charming. The kitchen has pretty much any gadget you might need. The deck is great with an outdoor hot tub and bbq. Truly a relaxing little get-a-way that is comfortable, easy and well-appointed. Thank you Lydia for sharing your lovely little Redwood forest cottage! I would love to come back in the fall or winter when the creek is full and rushing by.

Great location near Guerneville

  • 2 of 5

This home is located walking distance to downtown Guerneville. It has a beautiful deck with BBQ, Spa, outdoor dining, and impeccable landscaping that is magical. The home is whimsically decorated and has a vintage charm. The reason for the "fair rating" was attributed to what appeared to be an ongoing ant problem and that the home is clearly occupied by a dog much of the time as indicated by the pet accessories present (dog bowls, beds, and pooper scooper). The carpets were wet when we arrived as they had just been cleaned but as they dried there was a definite smell. The disappointment was discovering a number of flea bites on all of us that began to develop during the trip but we attributed to Mosquitos incorrectly. If you are allergic or sensitive to pets this is important information. Overall this was a decent place in a good location if you want to visit Guerneville!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback Zeke. There are dog supplies at the house as we are a pet friendly house. I did check in after your stay as I was concerned with the potential of fleas, but I wasn't able to find any. Unfortunately our dogs passed away sometime ago, so there are no dogs present on the property other than the ones I invite my guests to bring.

Getaway in the trees

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed two nights in October in this cottage nestled in the redwoods. It is a wonderful property within walking distance of downtown that is both comfortable and cozy. We enjoyed sitting in the outdoor hot tub gazing at the giant redwoods towering above us. And our yellow lab was welcome and loved it too!

We look forward to our return trip.
