This property is on the verge of being really nice. There are a handful of things that would elevate this to a luxury-level property. The refrigerator is in disrepair. The water and ice dispensers did not function properly, and one of the drawers had several broken egg shells in it when we arrived. The dishwasher as well did not clean dishes properly so we washed dishes by hand during our stay.
The pillows were absolutely atrocious. It was kind of insulting, to be honest. They are very old and were of low quality when they were purchased. They made it difficult to sleep and I ended up taking pillows off one of the unused beds so my husband and I each were sleeping with three pillows and still having trouble.
Overall the property was spacious enough for our needs and, as I stated before, so close to being luxury-level. But it's clear the owners are pinching pennies when it comes to appliances, bedding, and cosmetic maintenance like big gouges in the walls and water damage in the bathrooms.
Regarding checkin, the materials we received from Panhandle Getaways stated that we could check in beginning at 4 pm. When we arrived we discovered the checkin desk is only open from 12-4 pm. A security guard told us we would "be fine" parking in the lot as long as we went to checkin at 12 the next day to receive our parking passes. We spoke with someone in the Panhandle Getaways office, who transferred us to the voicemail of the Owner's Association president for some reason. She then stated that she had spoken with someone at the property and alerted them that we would be receiving our parking passes the next day. The following day we received a snotty note from the property, stating that our vehicle had been "entered in a parking violation database" because we did not have our parking passes.
Another comment I would like to leave: we noticed on the day of our checkout that the lady running the front desk was headed into the elevator with a cleaning cart. We wondered if this meant she was also responsible for housekeeping as well as running checkin, and if this was why the checkin hours were so limited. She is a senior citizen and was very friendly and helpful during our contact with her, and it was disappointing to say the least to see her also performing housekeeping duties. We are drawing conclusions based only on what we saw, but it has really soured us on staying at the property again, combined with everything else listed above.
Condo was great and the splash pad was amazing for our 2yo. He had a wonderful time and our daughter loved the lazy river. We had 10 people in our party and we were all comfortable. The only downfall was the ice maker did not work and we had to buy ice daily, but nothing we couldn't handle. Elevators were not a long wait and finding a cart to load and unload was a breeze. Can't wait to come back! Also the management company was very easy to work with and very helpful!
The condo itself is overall nice; there are always pros and cons everywhere. First the cons... The "4th bedroom" is more of a nook with bunk beds, no dresser and no door. It's right next to the main bathroom so anyone in there is disturbed while sleeping/no privacy.
Ice maker in the unit didn't work and ice machine downstairs was out of order.
Unit was not as clean as I would expect, hair was left in the shower and floors still sandy.
There is a large nasty storm drain that empties into the ocean directly in front of the eas building; it's really gross as there is a steady stream of brown water. From looking up high it feels like those people are playing in a drainage canal, yuk!
This unit is right next to the trash chute which is REALLY GROSS when coming or going. It smells AWFUL. If the door is opened while waiting on everyone the smells comes inside down the hallway.
Pros - the pools are fantastic, two of them in constant shade which is nice for the kids. Water park area was s cool! The staff is very helpful and kind. There was lots of room to spread out and relax in our unit. Everything we needed to cook was there; they also had a pack n play and baby bath in the maste closet.
If we ever come back we would definitely stay at this resort again as it was so much fun for the kids, clean, ect but we would be trying another room!
The hotel is clean and very family friendly. There was always a chair at the pool to relax and watch your kids. My twin 2 yo loved every part of splash pads and pool. The condo we stay in was just fine for what we needed. Clean and had everything we needed
We had a lot of fun at this resort! The condo was plenty big enough for our group of 7.
First, the cons: The "4th bedroom" is not really a bedroom. It's basically a nook by the front door with a set of bunk beds. There is no dressers or closet for clothes and there also isn't a door. This is difficult when you are trying to have small ones go to bed but the adults want to stay up and watch TV or play cards/board games. When we arrived at 4pm, they had not finished cleaning the room. When he left, he said an inspector would be by to look over the broken tub drain. No one ever showed up and he left before actually finishing his job. There were sheets laying on chairs and the freezer had parts of it sitting on top of the appliance. We had 8 towels....and one of them had a huge tear in it. We contacted the resort twice asking for additional towels.....never received them. We had to wash towels constantly! The trash chute is literally right outside the entrance to the condo so all you smell is rotting garbage every time you come or go. The ceiling fan in one of the masters only works on high....and you can turn it off but have the light on. Showing up at check-in is crazy! There is only 1 small elevator in the parking garage and then only 2 elevator's per side (East or West). We stood in line for at least 20 minutes just to get in the elevator to go to our room.
The pros: The condo is up to date. The beds were comfortable. All the bathrooms were spacious. Kitchen was large and it was easy to move around with multiple people in there. The views from the 20th floor were spectacular! You could see dolphins when the water was calm! The pools/water park area were awesome! It was great to spend a few hours at the beach and then take the kids out of the sun and let them play in the splash area. Public areas were always clean. There are 2 similar pools.....one stays quite cold because it is always shaded which is nice to avoid sunburn but the water never gets a chance to warm up any. They have a lots of additional activities you can pay to do right when you step on the beach (parasail, jet skis, banana boat). The resort has a nice little snack shop and bar next to one pool. Prices are a little high but that's expected. There is plenty to see and do in Panama City Beach with either a walk or a short drive.
Pier Park less than 1 mile away
Splash puts the family back in 'family vacation.' You will find an interactive water park featuring water cannons, a twisting slide, a water umbrella, a tipping bucket, and more. This area is designed for kids 12 and under and is absolutely free! In addition, there is a tot area for ages four and under for hours of fun all to themselves! The resort also features two more pools, one with a lazy river and one with a Jacuzzi. Near the lazy river, during high season, the family can enjoy dive-in movies! All of this is overlooking 400 feet of white sugar sand beaches and the emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
An expansive health club has just about everything you expect from a health club, all the while with fantastic direct Gulf front views. At the pool area there is a poolside bar and grill, so you don’t have to leave to eat! You may also want to grab an ice cream cone at the deli/store attached to Splash
