About Kent Kramer
I love to travel off the beaten path and have traveled extensively in Mexico, South America and Peru. Meeting local people and immersing myself in the local community and culture is such a gift! My passions include collecting vintage vinyl records, playing drums in a working honky-tonk band, mid-century furniture & architecture, and vintage hot rods, automobilia & advertising collectibles. As a foodie, I love living in Minneapolis with it's chef-driven food scene. My travels have instilled a great appreciation for those things that elevate a stay away from home beyond the ordinary. I've been renting vacation properties for over 20 years ...attention to detail is my specialty!

Why Kent Kramer chose Calhoun Isles
These days, you'll find many older run-down properties hastily listed as vacation rentals by inexperienced owners while waiting to be sold. Sure, the nightly rates are cheaper, but is that really where you want to stay? ISLES INN UPTOWN was designed specifically as a vacation rental and it's BRAND NEW! I have over 25 years experience both as a vacation property owner and seasoned traveler, and most recently owned and operated Inn Uptown at 31st & Irving from 2008 - 2014, when a divorce inspired me to find a property better suited for vacation rental. I purchased this property in 2015 and have spent the last 3 years renovating from top to bottom, including a complete new 2nd story addition and the new ISLES INN UPTOWN vacation rental at the back of the home. It's an even better location than before, with close proximity to the chain of lakes (Lake of the Isles, Bde Maka Ska, Cedar Lake, and Lake Harriet), and easy access to biking and walking paths around the lakes and city. It's just 1 mile South of downtown, and Interstates 94 & 35 are just 1 mile away. The vibrant, eclectic East Isles Uptown neighborhood is the best in the Midwest! You'll love being able to walk to so many award-winning restaurants, and walking our serene chain of lakes!
What makes this Guest House unique
ISLES INN UPTOWN is no comparison to the nearby older run-down apartments listed as vacation rentals. It's BRAND NEW and designed specifically as a vacation rental! Past guests raved about our location and attention to detail! Fresh flowers greet you upon check-in. Watch the sunrise or sunset over Lake of the Isles. All Uptown has to offer is just a short walk away. I'm available to assist with luggage, recommend favorite local restaurants, assist with directions, and answer any questions you may have with my 20 years experience as an Uptown resident. I'm at your service...how can I be helpful?

Perfect in Every Way. STAY HERE!
If you are coming to Minneapolis, Isles Inn Uptown is definitely the place to stay. It’s located in the Lowry Hill neighborhood and is close to many great restaurants and cute coffee shops. I got up every morning and walked for coffee but there is an amazing grocery store within several blocks. The Walker Art Museum is also just a ten minute walk away.
Our host Kent did every thing to make our stay perfect. He redid every part of the place himself and you can see it in his careful attention to detail and all the amenities that are provided. The kitchen has all you need to fix all your own meals. There is a washer and dryer, a gas fireplace and two televisions! Even two showers. And the WiFi worked perfectly.
Close to the 6 bus line to take down town. We took a Lyft everywhere which were all very reasonably priced.
My favorite part was the wrought iron spiral staircase leading to the upstairs bedroom. The master bedroom can be blacked out to be very dark and it was very quiet at night. We actually slept better here than at home.
On one of our walks we met several of the neighbors who were all delightful.
We give this place our HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION and can’t wait to return.
We are both seasoned travelers and have stayed in hundreds of places over the years.
