Marco Vailetti purchased this condo in 1981
I have chosen to purchase my condo as a vacation home, since Squaw Valley was the site of the Winter Olympic games in 1960, and ever since has improved the slopes and lifts to make it a world class ski resort. With terrain for all type of skiers, from beginners to experts, is one of the best resorts in the Tahoe region that caters to individuals and families as well, with a great ski school from toddlers to adults.
The condo is just a short walk to the village and the Cable Car. Even with ski boots on, it takes me only 5 minutes to get to the Gondola. That way I don't have to worry about finding parking, especially on a busy weekend, or being worried about being towed during the winter months. With the convenient ski locker on the ground floor, all the ski gear is stowed away securely. The condo itself is very cozy, but it feels just like home too. The fully equipped kitchen is ideal to cook a gourmet home meal, but there are plenty of great restaurants in the village, including Starbucks too, just 5 minutes walking, where you can access free WiFi.
I love the pellet stove, that provides heat and the looks of a wood stove, without the bother of smoke and having to tend the fire, just set the thermostat to the desired temperature and enjoy, and occasionally add a bag of wood pellets into the hopper. In spring, summer, and fall, there is plenty of terrain to hike, following the creek to the waterfalls, and all the way up to Shirley Lake. If you have a bike, there is a great bike path that takes you all the way to Tahoe City, just 5 miles away. There you can enjoy the views of beautiful Lake Tahoe.
All together this is the best vacation home , away from home.
We enjoyed our stay, especially being able to walk less than 5 minutes to the Village shops and restaurants, as well as the tram. The short drive to Tahoe City was very convenient also. As mentioned in the review on your website, your stock of cooking supplies as well as an abundance of dishes and paper goods was a big plus. The condo was very clean, directions were clear and keys were easy to access. Other tenants were quiet and friendly. The two things on the down side that were out of your control were 1) the road construction in front of the complex, which will in time, be a plus I am sure. It was rather noisy and dusty during the day. 2) No air conditioning which again, is not normally an issue – it was unseasonably hot during our stay. We did buy a box fan which helped and we left it in the condo for you.
Thanks again for everything and feel free to put any or all of my comments on your website. Oh, thanks for the restaurant recommendations; Fireside Pizza was excellent and Jake’s was also - delightful view of the Lake.
This condo was perfect for our ski trip to Tahoe--it's a quick walk to the slopes and the Village, and had all the amenities we needed. We cooked dinner every night, and had a fun time. There is only parking for one car, but the owner was very responsive and helped us coordinate where to park the extra car. Would definitely stay again!
Had a great stay. Marco was immediately available for questions. The condo was clean, cozy and pleasant. Highly recommend.
Two of my girlfriends and I stayed at Marco's condo for the 2016 Wanderlust festival. Marco was a gracious hots - easy to work with and very organized, which made for a relaxing stay. He even allowed us to check out late on Sunday so that we could finish up our final class without worrying about packing! A 5 minute walk from the center of Squaw meant that we could run back to the condo between yoga classes if necessary. Fully stocked kitchen and cozy amenities made it the perfect place for us. We really enjoyed staying for the weekend and would definitely stay here again!
We stayed in Marco's condo for five nights on a ski trip. The property is conveniently located five minutes walk away from the lifts (maybe a bit more in ski boots). The place itself is cozy and well stocked--overall, a very fair value. Marco was gracious and accommodating as a host. I have no hesitation recommending his condo.
Overall a good experience. Owner had everything taken care of and was flexible on our check out time to get in one last day of skiing. Condo was comfy and had all we needed for three people. Definitely recommend.
The place is great. Very clean, not far from the village, very quiet. It is big enough for two but more would be tight. The laundry is shared and is now 4 quarters so plan on that. The kitchen has plenty of dishes and things to cook almost anything. We enjoyed our stay and would go back.
Other Activities: Kayaking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, parasailing, shopping, boating, rock climbing, snowboarding, wildlife viewing.
