About Marco Vailetti

Marco loves to ski the slopes of Squaw Valley, together with his wife and kids too. When he is not skiing, Marco loves to sail his Nacra Inter 20 catamaran and also to scuba dive as well.

Marco Vailetti purchased this condo in 1981

Why Marco Vailetti chose Lake Tahoe North Shore

I have chosen to purchase my condo as a vacation home, since Squaw Valley was the site of the Winter Olympic games in 1960, and ever since has improved the slopes and lifts to make it a world class ski resort. With terrain for all type of skiers, from beginners to experts, is one of the best resorts in the Tahoe region that caters to individuals and families as well, with a great ski school from toddlers to adults.

What makes this condo unique

The condo is just a short walk to the village and the Cable Car. Even with ski boots on, it takes me only 5 minutes to get to the Gondola. That way I don't have to worry about finding parking, especially on a busy weekend, or being worried about being towed during the winter months. With the convenient ski locker on the ground floor, all the ski gear is stowed away securely. The condo itself is very cozy, but it feels just like home too. The fully equipped kitchen is ideal to cook a gourmet home meal, but there are plenty of great restaurants in the village, including Starbucks too, just 5 minutes walking, where you can access free WiFi.

I love the pellet stove, that provides heat and the looks of a wood stove, without the bother of smoke and having to tend the fire, just set the thermostat to the desired temperature and enjoy, and occasionally add a bag of wood pellets into the hopper. In spring, summer, and fall, there is plenty of terrain to hike, following the creek to the waterfalls, and all the way up to Shirley Lake. If you have a bike, there is a great bike path that takes you all the way to Tahoe City, just 5 miles away. There you can enjoy the views of beautiful Lake Tahoe.

All together this is the best vacation home , away from home.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We enjoyed our stay, especially being able to walk less than 5 minutes to the Village shops and restaurants, as well as the tram. The short drive to Tahoe City was very convenient also. As mentioned in the review on your website, your stock of cooking supplies as well as an abundance of dishes and paper goods was a big plus. The condo was very clean, directions were clear and keys were easy to access. Other tenants were quiet and friendly. The two things on the down side that were out of your control were 1) the road construction in front of the complex, which will in time, be a plus I am sure. It was rather noisy and dusty during the day. 2) No air conditioning which again, is not normally an issue – it was unseasonably hot during our stay. We did buy a box fan which helped and we left it in the condo for you.

Thanks again for everything and feel free to put any or all of my comments on your website. Oh, thanks for the restaurant recommendations; Fireside Pizza was excellent and Jake’s was also - delightful view of the Lake.

worth it

  • 4 of 5

good points : clean with a good pressure hot shower. Easy straightforward instructions, although the key was a little sticky ( probably a new cut ). Would be nice if there was WiFi so I wouldn't have to rely on my phone's data plan which was slow and spotty to stream in the valley. The location was nice; walkable to the village, yet close to a trail head. The owner was prompt when I had a question while traveling; that was much appreciated.

Great location comfortable and clean

  • 4 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay in this bright, clean and convenient apartment, only a short walk to the Village and lifts. Onsite parking was very helpful, early arrival recommended as it gets full. Kitchen well set up for cooking, neat dining seats 5 comfortably. The accommodation is very suitable for a couple. we had two children (Both 12) with us who used the blow up mattress on the floor of the living room, the only down side of this was the reduced living space. The owner was very helpful, responded promptly to queries we had, and supplied clear instructions for arrival and departure. We would stay again

Amazing location! A little outdated but cozy. Can't beat the price though; and with a responsive and helpful owner it's worth it

Cozy condo in a fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

This condo was perfect for our ski trip to Tahoe--it's a quick walk to the slopes and the Village, and had all the amenities we needed. We cooked dinner every night, and had a fun time. There is only parking for one car, but the owner was very responsive and helped us coordinate where to park the extra car. Would definitely stay again!

Owner's Response: very glad you liked the location, and enjoyed the use of the kitchen. There is indeed only one parking space available, but glad you contacted me for alternative options for the second vehicle. Hope you enjoyed the snow as well. Happy New Year.
