Newly constructed 4 season home built in the 1930's craftsman style, this little beauty allows for all modern conveniences, while affording its guests an authentic Maine lakeside vacation experience. A gently sloping lawn leads to the bank of 17 mile long, crystal clear Damariscotta Lake, yet is a short drive to the rocky shores of the Atlantic Ocean. A 16'x16' waterside deck overlooks the private deep water dock and swimming float-just steps away from the cottage.
Two kayaks and one canoe are included with the rental that can be launched from the small sandy beach on the property. Exploring the islands and coves of this vast lake this way allows for an up close and personal look at the varied wildlife. Access is available to over 100 acres for dirt biking, four wheeling and snowmobiling.
Autumn is especially spectacular in the midcoast region. A few minute's drive to Route 1 brings you along the coast with some of the most breathtaking views in New England.
A large stone fireplace and in floor heat makes for a cozy winter retreat at Pine Cone Cottage. Snowmobiling on miles of trails is just outside the door. Ice fishing, cross country skiing and ice skating are just steps from the house!
Our family had the privilege of staying at Pine Cone Cottage this past summer and we were in awe at the beautiful setting and home. The home and surroundings were more than we ever could have imagined! The home was perfect for even a large family and very cozy! We have two small children and they both had such a wonderful time in the crystal clear lake. The adults had so much fun using the kayaks in early morning and evening when we could easily see and hear the loons swimming about. The Pemaquid Lighthouse is amazing and not too far of a drive. We even went on a whale watch! Pine Cone Cottage was the perfect getaway and more than we ever hoped for.
What memories we made at Pine Cone Cottage! We did it all during our week at the lake: fishing, kayaking, swimming, and tubing....This beautiful cottage was a wonderful home base for it all. We thought we would do more exploring of the Pemaquid Peninsula but couldn't tear ourselves away from the lakefront! In addition to the 6 of us who stayed all weekwe entertained several friends and family members from Maine and the house accommodated these get togethers extremely well. There are great seating areas both indoors and outdoors to create opportunities for quiet conversations apart from the large group. The craftsmanship of the house is incredible. We kept smiling at the details as we went through the week....My grandkids 9 and 11, declared this their best vacation ever, and are begging to go back to Pine Cone Cottage! Yes, we've booked for next year!
We stayed at the pine cone cottage with our four kids this week. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful setting or a more-relaxing environment for our family. We enjoyed some of the great, local restaurants, fished, kayaked and canoed around the lake, took advantage of a community rope swing on a nearby island, and relaxed by the fire in the evening. The home was clearly built with a level of pride rarely seen in construction today and was a very comfortable fit for our family. We'll be staying here again, for sure!
This cottage, while less than ten years old, is built with the design, craft and attention to detail that creates a house that radiates history and warmth. Sited to maximize both light and the view of Damariscotta Lake, this is perfect place to spend a week in the winter beauty of Mid-Coast Maine. The owners are responsive and helpful with anything you might need - although this is unlikely, since they have already thought of everything you will need and provided it. Definitely look forward to returning.
We had a lovely month long stay in this comfortable cozy home on the lake. The owners were kind and responsive. We felt well taken care of! The house is very comfortable and clean and the views gorgeous. There is everything needed for cooking and entertaining as well. We would recommend the property to friends and family and hope to be back very soon!
Pine Cone Cottage was just right for our family, including a grandson (age 2 1/2) eager to learn to skip pebbles and a granddaughter (age 4) ready to follow her Dad and uncles in competitive cannon-ball dives off the swimming float. The cottage's thoughtful design and furnishing provided a range of comfy options for visiting, reading, playing, and snoozing. It radiates happiness!
The public boat landing for Damariscotta Lake is just 1/2 mile from the house. Use the mooring or deep water dock for your boat.
Guests of Pine Cone Cottage have access privileges to over 100 acres of woods containing trails for hiking, four-wheeling, dirt biking, and snowmobiling.
Experience fresh water swimming and fishing right outside your door, then a short drive brings you to the glorious rockbound coast of Maine. Coastal fishing villages of Camden, Rockport, and Boothbay Harbor alive with festivals, fairs and the freshest lobster in the world are within a 30 minutes' drive.
The Damariscotta region abounds with shops, galleries, restaurants and extraordinary natural beauty.
