Our genuine log cabin is nestled in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, just off the 441 spur. The semi-secluded cabin sits almost at the top of a mountain, giving a sensational view and a simply heavenly feel. Yet within 10-15 minutes, you can be at any of the major attractions of the Smokies.
The log cabin was built by the renown photographer of the Smoky Mountains, James Thurston. Its suite-like floor plan with large rooms containing open beamed cathedral ceilings, along with a warm, cozy décor make it the perfect cabin for a family of six or two couples. Each bedroom has its own attached bath.
You don't have to leave behind your four legged family members either. Sunset View is Pet Friendly! A large Pet Porter is stored in the lower level closet to be used when the family wants to go out for the evening, yet be sure 4-legged family members will be safe, as well as the cabin.
Sunset View is a cabin you'll want to return to again and again for a special relaxation and peacefulness that you can only experience from a porch swing, while watching the sun melt over the mountaintops.

Charles and Alice Curnick live in Louisville, Ky. Charles is retired from Jefferson County Public Schools and Alice is still working as a 3rd grade teacher. Both love the great outdoors. They live on a mini-farm with 3 horses, 3 labs (one yellow, one chocolate, and one black), 4 cats, and 'too numerous to count' goldfish in their backyard pond.
Alice Curnick purchased this cabin in 2005
We visited good friends, who are now our neighbors, for a weekend visit back in February 2005. We fell in love with the mountaintop and the fabulous view from it. One truly feels closer to heaven in the mountains!
We have made our cabin more than just logs and furniture. Everyone who stays tells us how warm and cozy it is. It is 'home away from home'. A very short drive from the Smoky Mountain Parkway, right in the midddle between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We are just 10 minutes from Dixie Stampede and Dollywood. For the nature lovers, the location of the cabin allows quiet morning and evening walks up a picturesque mountain road. Only a 30-40 minute drive to Cade's Cove. 20 minutes to Five Oaks Mall and 'Miracle' in Pigeon Forge.
Cabin was great, Wonderful views from the area and the owners were great to work with. We will use this cabin again and again.
My family and I booked this cabin for the Thanksgiving holiday and we couldn't have had a better time. The cabin was clean, accommodating, and the views and location were stunning! We will be back for sure and the memories we've made here will be with us forever!
This was the perfect cabin for us. Our little dog loved it too. The owners are great to work with. Plan on going back next year.
We stayed at this wonderful little cabin this weekend. It was so cozy and peaceful. The view was fabulous. We had dinner on the deck and watched the sunset. Very clean with comfortable bed and furnishings. It was so great to be able to take our dog along. We didn't see any bears, but we saw bear scat around the cabin. Exciting and scary at the same time! The owners were so nice and easy to work with. We definitely would want to stay here again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 4-day stay at Sunset View..what a serene, welcoming place to rest and recharge! My husband and I visit the Smokies once, possibly twice a year, and we usually do a lot of day hiking. This trip, we arrived Saturday afternoon, and the rain started Sunday mid-morning...and it did not let up for the duration. What a blessing in disguise! We did take a couple of half day hikes in the rain (and were able to thaw out in the hot tub), but the majority of our time was spent in front of a crackling fire in the fireplace, and falling asleep to the sound of rain pattering on the red metal roof of the cabin. It was so hypnotic...we rested so well. We thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful, quiet solitude, the amazing view from the back porch, and the welcoming atmosphere of this beautiful home. Our experience couldn't have been improved in any way...it was perfect! The cabin is very well kept, immaculate, and everything we needed was provided. Of major importance was our ability to bring our 4-legged friend along, and it was great to have a crate and bowls provided for her use. Thank you, Alice and Charles, for sharing your home with two weary travelers in need of time away from the same old, same old. We hope one day to have such a special place to call our own. Until that day comes, you will be hearing from us. God bless!
This cabin is absolutely beautiful! This was our first time staying in a cabin and what an amazing experience it was. The cabin is ideally located in between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge but secluded up in the mountains to have your own piece of heaven. We fully enjoyed the cabin, the fireplace, and the view. When it was time to leave we were all so sad, we didn't want to leave. I have to agree with the rest of the reviews, the pictures on VRBO DO NOT do this cabin justice, it's absolutely beautiful and very clean. We fell in love with the town, mountains and Tennessee. Can't wait to go back. Thank you Alice and Charles for letting use your cabin.
