Oak Bluffs: Constantly updating our beautifully maintained summer cottage in a quiet area of Oak Bluffs with easy access to bike path & off leash dog park. 10 minute walk to town. 2 1/2 miles to State Beach and 1 1/2 miles to East chop beach. Open living, kitchen and dining area. Sleeps 6. Large open porch to enjoy relaxing summer evenings. Great yard for kids, call for details. A dream porch on which to relax or entertain!
Originally puchased with my sister...but after a few years of dealing with differences in rental management style, combined with our growing families, our co-ownership ended when I bought her g in 2009. Since that time numerous upgrades have been made to the cottage both inside and out. I hope you enjoy your visit. I unfortunately was diagnosed w/ young onset Parkinson's in 2012

The owner of the house was completely unresponsive. Between when we had booked the house and the week before we were set to arrive, a pretty negative review had been posted - mainly around cleanliness. I messaged the owner a couple days before our arrival to ask if these issues were resolved and how to get into the house. Over the next couple days, I emailed, texted and called two separate phone numbers with no response. Finally the day we arrived I called homeaway support to get instructions about how to actually gain access into the house. Four days after we arrived we finally got a message from the owner but by that time it wasn’t even worth responding to.
The house was disappointing also. It clearly hadn’t really been cleaned. I think we were lucky that the previous renters left it in decent shape so after a little bit of cleaning ourselves we were OK. Many of the things that the previous bad review complained about were still problems (only one working burner on the stove, washing machine leaked, dingy furniture and rugs, etc.). It’s kind of a shame since it could be a nice little summer house with proper cleaning and maintenance.
I wouldn’t recommend staying here. There are a lot of other houses on Martha’s Vineyard with more attention and love.
The house is as described, on a quiet street in Oak Bluffs. We arrived and the house was neat and clean. There are some areas that need attention like the cusions on the sofa and patio furniture (It is probably time for new cusions/furniture), but it was not a deal breaker and did not ruin our trip. Haven rented many homes in MV, this house is on par with others for a middle of the summer rental. I would stay at this home again.
My family and I rented this property. Property pictures must have been from ~4 yrs ago - which we learned was the time when the owner purchased the place and made the initial investment. We found roaches and feces under the sink. The bed linens were spoiled with body fluids! We actually had to purchase pillows due to the conditions. The sofa was riddled with stains and the overall condition of the place is truly unbearable. Each closet is jammed with owner (or previous renters) items. We even found mens underwear in the closet. I'm not certain if I can attach pictures in this review, but you won't believe it! The washing machine has no dial rendering it unusable. The outdoor furniture is filthy. The outdoor amenities (e.g. chairs, umbrella, etc) are in a bin outside and have been eaten by mice or rodents, and covered with spiders and dirt. The "renter book" falsely represents a property owner. When we contacted him, he stated he hasn't worked for the owner in over 1 year. Everyone we spoke with explained the property was in poor condition over 1 year ago, and that people have tried to explain to the owner that things needed to be addressed. When I contacted the owner, she directed me to a hired housekeeper. She was responsive and came the next day -- but had no excuse for the droppings, roaches and filthy sheets and pillows. Every cushion and fabric in house was filthy. She cleaned under the sink - but truly the house is WELL BEYOND that. Only 1 burner worked. My son's socks were black from walking on the hardwood floor. She confided that she has tried to discuss this with the owner. Apparently the owner is ill - and we feel terrible for that - but she is RUNNING a BUSINESS - and benefiting financially from it. At the renters expense. The pictures honestly don't highlight the true conditions of the home and the next family must be warned. In fact, the "fire pit" is actually located in a vacant lot next to the house! The house does not have a driveway, so you have to pull in next to a barren grass area between the bushes. We did not choose an inexpensive house - and we were completed horrified. I can't image we are the first to complain. We don't live like this at home - why would be subject to this on vacation. It ruined our vacation. . The owner and the cleaning lady are both pointing fingers. It is is very clear that NO ONE is managing the house. AND it shows. The net-net is the house is in appalling condition.
This cottage is located in a great location! Just a mile away from everything. It also includes all the amenities you'll need. The cottage is well maintained and the owner is great! I would definitely rent again and would recommend this cottage to friends and family!
WE LOVED THE COTTAGE. IMMACULATE. Great front porch. All amenities there. Just bring sheets. Roomier than appears on line. Absolutely would recommend. Big yard for kids. Fire pit. Linda Jean's restaurant was wonderful. Black Dog a real treat right on the water. Love, loved it!!!! Marsha, Jacqui, Linda and Pattie
Great place! Exactly as described! Everything you need and more! 15 min walk or very reasonable cab fare to get into town. The cottage is just enough distance away to relax away from everything. Erin is a wonderful owner and great with communication! I will definitely be revisiting this wonderful place!
