Location, Location, Location: The villa is ideally located in easy walking distance of the beach, Night Heron Park, and Town Center with its convenience store, fast food restaurant, and full service restaurant. Also near by is The Sanctuary, Kiawah Island Resort's extraordinary new hotel with it's world class European Spa, restaurant, and boutique shopping. This convenience, however, does not come at the expense of the villa's quiet and serene lagoon front setting. This is a very peaceful and relaxed environment without any feeling of urgency or busyness, even during the peak summer season.
Premier Rating: The villa has been totally renovated and refurnished by award winning Kiawah Island Resort designer Donna Horack, ASID, and is rated 'Premier' by Kiawah Island Resort. Only properties rated by and managed by the resort can legitimately identify themselves as 'Premier' properties. The resort reserves the 'Premier' designation 'for a very limited number of properties that are exceptional in every detail'. Because these properties are outstanding, they are in high demand and command higher rental rates. Keep in mind that if a property isn't rated and managed by Kiawah Island Resort it is not a 'Premier' property regardless of what the owner wants to call it.
We both grew up in the Northeast, migrating to North Carolina in the late 1970's, in large part to get away from the long and dreary winters! We 'discovered' Kiawah in the early 80's and fell in love with the island and the surrounding area. After visits to many other islands along the Atlantic coast, we found none we liked as much as Kiawah. We bought our first Kiawah property in 1992 and our current villa in 2004. Kiawah has been our home away from home and we cherish the memories of our times there. It has been a wonderful place for exposing our daughter to the wonders of nature and to healthy, active vacationing as she has grown up and become an adult.
Jan Henshaw purchased this villa in 2004
Kiawah Island is simply a beautiful barrier island which has been very carefully developed to preserve that beauty. Low density development has been a hallmark of Kiawah from it's original conception to the current day. Preservation of natural habitat has insured that the island is rich with wildlife, much of which is visible to the casual observer. Kiawah's 10 mile beach has been rated a 'top ten' beach in North America by The Travel Channel. Thirty miles of well maintained hiking/biking trails make the entire island accessible to even the unskilled rider. The resort features five public golf courses including the very highly rated 'Ocean Course', a highly rated tennis facility, a five star hotel and spa, and a good assortment of restaurants at various price points. Whether one is seeking a naturalist experience or more civilized indulgences, Kiawah Island is a terrific vacation venue for people of all ages.
Location, location, location! Villa is situated close to the walking bridge over the lagoon, beyond which is the access boardwalk to the beach. This means a 4 minute walk to the beach, as well as a 4 minute walk to the family and children's pools and the Nature Center at the Night Heron Park pool complex. After time on the beach or at the pools, the closeness of the villa is greatly appreciated, especially if you are carrying gear, are pushing a stroller, or have a young child walking with you.
"Our first visit to Kiawah Island was great. Very peaceful and quiet. You villa is
lovely. We enjoyed the gators and the fish. Thank you for sharing your lovely
home with us."
We loved staying here! Beautiful villa and fantastic location!
Beautiful villa in a great location. Villa layout is especially well suited to extended families (grandparents, parents, 2 children). Well appointed and well equipped, the villa had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The views from the porch and dock are excellent for observing the wildlife in and around the lagoon. We'll be back!
This is a beautiful property located within a short walk of the beach and the Night Heron Park pools and Nature Center. With master suites on both floors and doors which close off each of the three bedrooms, it affords privacy for all guests. The layout of the villa makes it a great choice for extended families. The screened-in porch has a commanding view of the lagoon near its widest point, giving it a great view of the wildlife that inhabits and visits the lagoon. The dock is an added feature and a nice place for a morning coffee or a cocktail hour beverage. The villa is tastefully furnished and very well maintained and equipped. The owners are very accommodating and easy to work with. With full resort privileges, it is easy to take advantage of all that the resort has to offer its guests. Check-in and check-out are very easy, with the front desk located at East Beach center located a short distance from the villa.
We have visited Kiawah multiple times and stayed at this villa three times. It's hands down our favorite place. The owners are attentive and the villa is perfect. You will not find a better location- close to the pools, park, nature center, and beach.
This was our first visit to Kiawah for our family. Our townhome was great- clean, well furnished, and great location overlook the pond with Night Heron Park just a few minutes walking distance. We ate meals several at the table on the screened porch. We walked to the beach and were able to ride bikes everywhere including the tennis center. Plus the weather that week was terrific for exercising, not too hot but warm enough to swim in the ocean. Would definitely go back.
We have stayed at this villa two years and have booked a third visit. The entire villa has been updated. The view of the lagoon from the screened porch offers great views of gator and bird activity. Night Heron Park is nearby as is the Town Center, and the beach is a short walk away. Bike paths abound. We enjoyed seeing dolphins strand feeding, visiting the Charleston Tea Plantation, and the Middleton Plantation. Of course, Charleston is just about 45 minutes away, and finding good places to eat is a "piece of cake"!
Located only 22 miles from historic Charleston, S.C., Kiawah Island has become renowned for it's golf and tennis venues, winning prestigious awards from Golf Digest and Tennis Magazine, as well as from Travel and Leisure Golf Magazine. Conde Nast Traveler placed Kiawah on its Gold List and Family Life named Kiawah a 'Top 10 Best Family Resort.' It's ten mile beach has been named one of The Travel Channels ten best beaches in North America. Kiawah is also well known for its spectacular natural beauty due in part to it's low density development and emphasis on conservation. Charleston itself is renowned for it's historic sites and fine dining and is a wonderful place to visit for it's history and well preserved antebellum architecture.
