About Jason Carter

Jason and Joanne Carter, Jacksonville, FL

Jason Carter purchased this townhome in 2016

Why Jason Carter chose Georgia

We love Rabun county and the mountains of Northeast Georgia!

What makes this townhome unique

Our mountaintop location is quiet and serene, with breathtaking views of the southern end of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

There's a lot to do here, including hiking, boating, fishing, golfing, shopping for crafts or local produce, or browsing around charming Clayton. We're only 5 minutes from Clayton, but our location on the opposite side of the mountain from town provides you with a view of the Chattahoochee National Forest that is mostly devoid of human presence. There is no better way to top off an adventure filled day than to enjoy a glass of locally grown wine from one of the decks at Halfway to Heaven!

Guestbook comments from the owner

This place is beautiful. The views were amazing and the new owners have done several upgrades to the place. They were very nice and responsive. Went on several hikes and saw some amazing waterfalls. The restaurants were amazing.

Amazing view, very nice rooms and very well kept up.

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place. The rooms are very nice and the house has a cozy feel. The owners were very responsive to any additional questions I had while staying there. The views are some of the best from any cabin I have stayed in. Very nice 3 story decks. Will come back when ever we can. Thanks!

House might've lived up to the reviews...if I could've gotten in!

  • 1 of 5

Buyer beware. House under new ownership as of April 2016 so all those great reviews, definitely pertain to the formers owners care and upkeep. This owner is not easy to work with at all. My party booked under the former owner and reservation was transferred. There is one road up the mountain to this home, and upon our 1am arrival, we were greeted to a full police presence at the base of the mountain. After a full interview about our purposes and intention, we were denied entry by the police to the mountain road that accesses the property. We had to find other accommodations at 2am, not an easy task.

Initially when Jason and I spoke by phone, he acted like he didn't know who I was. I refreshed his memory about the home sale and he apologized for my experience and promised a refund. Now, two weeks later he has made up a whole story about having a police buddy, having video of me in the property and if denying a refund. I've filed a complaint with Homeaway/VRBO.

I highly advise if you plan to travel at night or are unsure of the surroundings, you steer clear.

Owner's Response: It's unfortunate that there are people out there like this. I'm not sure why she felt the need to make up this story about the police when my neighbors saw her inside of my home. She did get her money back despite the fact that she entered my home.

'Halfway to Heaven' is RIGHT!

  • 5 of 5

The view is everything the other reviewers have raved about and more! Absolutely, breathtakingly, stunningly gorgeous, from nearly every vantage point in the home.

And this is the most well-stocked vacation rental I have ever visited. The owners have truly thought of everything, from a high chair and playpen to everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. I absolutely recommend this place for anyone needing a getaway.

wonderful accommodations!

  • 5 of 5

Awesome views! Very nice place and very convenient to the Clayton area. We will definitely stay again. Lots of room in the place and very child friendly! Our 16month old had a blast and they provide a high chair, portable crib, and toys, so you don't have to take the house with you which has s wonderful! I definitely recommend this home if you need accommodations in the Clayton area.
