It offers a public boat ramp nearby, which is less than a half mile away. The park that adjoins the property offers a well-groomed two mile hiking trail, perfect area for riding bikes, along with a playground and picnic area. There is a country store and a Dollar General store close by for any last minute necessities.
The cabin is set up as a single family unit ONLY with washer and dryer facilities in the basement. We have owned and operated this property since 2002. We have had many quests over the years and look forward to more in the future. We are pleased to offer this property and hope you will enjoy it also as much as we have over the years.
Scott & Judy Bryson purchased this cabin in 2002
This property offers not only a quiet setting and beautiful views of the lake and surrounding areas, but is within easy access of water, hiking trails, boat ramp, and local amenities.
Many fishermen have enjoyed fishing tournaments and even fishing from the bank. They state that the location and lake access is primary. We as owners personally like it because of location, location, location.
This is the first VRBO stay for my husband, son and myself. We stayed for four nights. Scott was very pleasant to talk to when booking the stay. We arrived around 9:30 p.m. and our GPS took us right to the house. :) The house was clean, decorated very cute and in a nice location. Scott left brochures of local attractions and a map of the lake, noting where we were located. The weather was hot and humid but the screened in porch was used A LOT with the ceiling fan running. :) Nice to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in the morning. While our son (17) watched TV at night, my husband and would sit on the porch and listen to all the tree frogs. :) I did get them to play one of the board games that was there, what a hoot! :) The neighbor was very friendly and helpful. Really liked having a washer and dryer. We would recommend this for a nice relaxing get away from home. :)
My husband, daughter and son in law wanted to go to the Scottish Festival but all the lodge rooms at the state park plus the cabins and villas were already reserved well in advance, we only started looking for a place in April. The chain hotels were also booked so I was ready to give up, then my daughter remembered and tried VRBO! Luckily enough this cabin popped up on her search parameters. We were very well pleased with the cabin, it was in a very quiet and peaceful setting overlooking the lake. The screened room was so wonderful, when we weren't cooking or sleeping we were on this porch. It has a fan to move the air around and was mostly quite comfortable, but it seems to be on one speed only, that being high. I would have preferred an adjustment as early morning and late night it made it too cool to run the fan. We made use of the grill one night having chicken and pork chops, don't forget to bring charcoal and starter! We would have preferred having 2 bathrooms but made do with the one, a bathroom fan would be nice to keep the steamy air in check but I opened the window and told everyone to not go out back while I was in the shower! We did not get around to sitting in the large living room, the weather was too nice to be indoors. It would be very nice in the fall and winter when the weather is cold. I suspect it is gorgeous there when the leaves turn color so that is something to think about when planning a fall getaway.
The price for the cabin was reasonable and we hope to rent again next year when the Scottish Festival is held.
Stayed 3 nights. Cabin was clean. People friendly. Great location if you crappie fish. Would recommend highly.
i just came home from a 3 night stay in windy cove. it was myself and 3 more wanna be fishermen. The fishing wasnt great but the cabin was .It was everything that scott said it was.It was so quit and peaceful. the real big screened porch was a extra bonus. If you sit out there and over look the lake with a cup of coffee in your hand, you will understand. I fish Barren 3 times a year, and i will use this place everytime.
We stayed stayed in this cabin (family of 5) for a couple of days to enjoy an early spring south of us. We went fishing, enjoyed the scenery, and Mammoth cave. The view from the cabin of the lake is beautiful. The cabin was clean and the owners were very friendly and helpful.
If you are looking for peace & quiet and a beautiful cabin on the lake, look no further. Windy Cove is the best! My husband (age66) and myself (age58) take 4 or 5 "mini vacations" every summer. We rent from private owners and this place by far beats every place we have ever been. We spent our days on our pontoon and are evenings grilling out and then retired to the screened in deck and took in the beautiful view of the lake along with enjoying all the "night critters" chirping!
There is no dock for your boat, but plenty of trees to tie up to like we did
I just can't put into words how nice Windy Cove is, but trust me you fall in love with this cabin & surroundings. The owner met us there and he was so nice and helpful showing us around. Only two suggestions- a new set of steak knives and perhaps if possible to weed eat the path to make it a little wider.
Thank you Scott & Judy for giving us the best trip ever! We look forward to seeing you next year (if we can wait that long!)
