Great home while touring Rome

  • 5 of 5

Our stay here was wonderful, as the house has everything you need for a longer stay near Rome. The supermarket is only 3 minutes away, the bus stop 1 minute, and several eateries a few minutes walking. the owner, Irene, was there to greet us even after our plane was 3 hours late. Beds were comfy, kitchen large, and everything was clean. The only concern anyone should have is if you plan on breaking up your day with a nap at the home. The public transportation is close and runs often, but it takes 45 minutes to get back from the center of Rome, which is not perfect for short breaks. Otherwise, this is a great home to make your base when visiting Rome. Thanks Irene!

The flat was terrific, modern and everything worked well. The owner was very helpful.

We have stayed in Rome many times and this apartment was the best we have experienced. The owner was extremely nice and helpful and we would definitely stay there again if we could. It is in an area close to public transport and shops but far enough from the centre where there are less tourists and more locals so you can soak up the real Roman lifestyle. Thank you Irene. We had a wonderful stay.

Not as advertised

  • 2 of 5

I rented this property from Sept 20th to Nov 9th. People in the neighborhood shops were gracious and accommodating. The hardware around the corner was very helpful. The butcher near the bus stop was a delight and consistently gracious.

This property is One hour from the center of Rome. Bus 907 runs every 20 min and takes 25 min to get to Metro Batestini. 25 min From Batestini to Termini. Then you are in the place you want to start your day from.

Property owners were not responsive to attempts to contact them. Heard nothing for seven weeks despite emails. The one emergency we had was solved by a neighbor who helped find the breaker box. In over seven weeks, never laid eyes on, or got a call (except for the emergency) from owners or even an email response.

Kitchen was not well equipped. I spent over 50 euros on kitchen equipment. Heat didn't work so I bought heater, another 30 euros. Most items in Kitchen not clean (covered in sticky grease- no external vent for stove).

Beds uncomfortable. Printer not available despite wifi and printer box. The one emergency we had was solved by a neighbor who helped find the breaker box. People in upstairs unit were very loud with sounds of dragging something heavy around all hours of day and night (up to 2:00 am)

Few restaurants in the neighborhood which seemed mostly retired folks and immigrants. Graffiti everywhere, much worse than other parts of Rome.

Considering the remote location and the lack of support from the owners, I think this unit was somewhat overpriced and under cleaned. It should be noted that there family had a recent addition which may have impacted their responsiveness to the "renters".

Owner's Response: With surprise and disappoint we read this negative review. Since we started renting about two years ago this is the first time we have received such a review, although perhaps it is something holiday home owners should come to expect nowadays. We would like to stress that, in addition to the excellent economic treatment reserved for this customer, we decided to take the time and go to Termini station directly upon his arrival to bring him to the accommodation, charging no additional costs and doing so for the sake of hospitality, however, obviously we chose the wrong customer! Let's have a look at the problems encountered by this customer. The journey distances are correct and that is what we communicate to each customer that we host. Clearly traffic may cause some delay but this is beyond our control and something we cannot predict. Regarding our non-presence, we have always managed this activity respecting customer privacy and prefer not to disturb during their vacation. That being said, we have always responded to requests for assistance of any kind, but if these requests are not made to us we do not call constantly for no reason. When the circuit breaker blew due to the customer using too many appliances simultaneously (even though we had warned turning two air conditioners and the oven at the same time could cause this result), we solved the problem right away, calling to his aid our friends who live in adjacent apartment to resolve in a shorter time. The heating in our apartment is centralized and is turned on at certain times during the day and night, but when they are off our customers can take advantage of the 2 air conditioning units inside which produce heat. Our kitchen is fully equipped with all appliances, including items such as as centrifuge, blender, microwave, toaster, TV and more. We are not aware of abnormal noise coming from the apartments above. Our upstairs neighbor is an elderly lady who has never bothered us nor any of our customers before. Instead we would like to list the problems which were caused by this customer such as a broken clock in the kitchen with a value of 80 €. No explanation was given, which is strange as the clock had been on the kitchen wall for three years without having fallen. Clearly the damage to the clock was not reimbursed. Lastly, the day and time set for check out and the return of the keys was not respected by the customer who did not answer our repeated calls and ultimately did not turn up.
