An excellent size for us, our two young daughters and a guest. House is well decorated and had everything we needed. An easy walk to the beach, the hotel and the playpark. Weather wasn't great, but that wasn't the accommodation's fault :). We managed to get a few bales of peat briquettes from the nearby shops for a cosy fire on our nights in. The Eurospar in nearby Ramelton is a good place to get groceries; Letterkenny isn't that far away either.
We took a last minute break to Inge’s cottage in Rathmullan. Confirmations of booking and payment all went very smoothly. On arrival we were met by Seamus and his wife who showed us around the cottage and the heating etc. The cottage was perfect, exceptionally, clean ,very tastefully decorated and well equipped. The surroundings are beautiful. The cottage is in the grounds of the hotel with a scattering of similar properties in a wooded surrounding. Only a couple of hundred yards away though a wooded path is the beach. What more could you ask for! We ate in Tapps pizza restaurant in the cellar of the hotel and our meal was lovely. To top it all we had an exceptional meal in An Bonnan Bui in the town. All in all a beautiful cottage in superb surroundings. Looking forward to returning.
Spacious and bright in an excellent location
We enjoyed our stay and managed to visit nearby beach every day.

What a gem
Absolutely fantastic house set in most idyllic grounds few steps from gorgeous beach and fabulous tap room bar! House decor lovely and equipped with everything you could possibly need. Inge a pleasure to deal with and we definitely hope to have a return visit.
Great cottage and location
Had a fantastic stay in this lovely cottage. Well presented and maintained we felt at home as soon as we arrived. We found the location ideal. On the grounds of the Rathmullan house hotel( check out the pizzas) and just a couple of minutes walk has you on the long sandy beach. The village centre is also very close for visits to the cafes and bars.
Would highly recommend this cottage and the service from the owner was excellent.
Will definitely return for another holiday to Rathmullan and a stay in this cottage
Rathmullan (Irish: Ráth Maoláin, meaning 'Maoláin's ringfort') is a small seaside village on the Fanad Peninsula in County Donegal, Ireland. It is situated on the western shore of Lough Swilly, 11 km north-east of Ramelton and 12 km east of Milford. Rathmullan was the scene of the Flight of the Earls in 1607. There are also the ruins of a medieval Carmelite Friary in Rathmullan which was built by Eoghan Rua MacSweeney in 1516. The Friary was sacked by the English garrison from Sligo in 1595. In 1607, Rathmullan was also said to have seen the last of the Gaelic Order, most notably the Clan Ó Néill and the Clan Ó Domhnaill, during the Flight of the Earls to the Continent. This 'flight' took place from Portnamurray on the southern edge of the town. In 1617 the Friary was occupied by the Protestant Bishop of Raphoe, The Rt. Rev. Dr. Andrew Knox, who turned it into a stronghold during the colonisation of County Donegal during the Plantation of Ulster. In the 18th century Wolfe Tone, a leader of the 1798 Rising was held in Rathmullan after his capture in Buncrana, ]. In the 19th century there was a British battery situated near the pier to defend Lough Swilly from a possible French invasion during the Napoleonic Wars. This battery still stands and today serves as a heritage centre. It is a stunning, laid back holiday town with many activities for any family or couple. Also, it is just a short 20 minute drive from the famed Ballymastocker Bay, voted the second best beach in the world by readers of the Observer.
