The Crow's Nest is the penthouse apartment of the Town & Country Building located in the heart Coral Bay on the Eastern end of St John in the US Virgin Islands. This fully air conditioned studio has vaulted ceilings and an open floorplan giving guests a comfortable and relaxing environment from which to explore all the wonderful places there are to visit on St John.
The third floor private deck allows you to watch all the comings and goings of the nearby harbor and favorite local restaurants such as Skinny Legs(cheeseburger heaven!) and the Donkey Diner(great for breakfasts). Enjoy grilling your own dinners in the back patio of the building.
On site parking is available, and a rental car is highly recomended. For added convenience the local bus does stop directly in front of the building. Within walking distance are excellent hiking trails and several restaurants. Beach access is within 10 minutes by car.
A successful rental for years, the apartment has been completely remodeled with meticulous attention to detail.
Improvements include a 50' flat screen TV, 2 full size comfortable sofas, a full size range with oven, new refrigerator, new granite tiled countertops, and custom made cabinets.
Original art, lots of books and various artifacts add lots of personality. There is a desk with printer for those needing office access.
The Crow's Nest features a queen size bed with new mattress. It is available for 1 or 2 adult guests. It is a non smoking property.

My husband and I had to be in Coral Bay for business; so we rented this studio. It is a lovely, immaculate, well priced and very well appointed apartment. Yes, it is a studio but it is very spacious and has everything you would need for a stay in St. John. The pictures are accurate. Thais Taylor, the property manager lives on property. She is very well informed, very helpful and available. I would highly recommend this property; and I will definitely return. We used the studio as a "home base" and easily explored the whole island. You are within easy walking distance to several fun laid back restaurants; but I would recommend having a rental car. Fortunately, this is not a busy, impacted, over crowded location; so if you love quiet, low key, casual tropical spots, the Crow's Nest is for you. We loved the owner's cat Dynamite. Also, the "daily commute" of many donkeys and goats past the building was great.
My husband and I stayed for 8 days in December. The location is central, with a lovely view of the harbor. Easy to get to the north shore beaches or the beaches near Salt Pond and beyond. The studio is spacious, with the sleeping area separate from the living area. The owner is an artist, and the walls are covered with wonderful paintings. There is great light, comfy furniture, and is well stocked. There were a few minor problems which were addressed immediately by the manager. This truly is an oasis.
The Crows Nest is a wonderful flat! We truly enjoyed the views from the apartment out to the bay. Everything that you need is within walking distance. The bus line is at your front door which makes getting around the island very easy. Skinny Legs is just across the street if you want a quick bite and some entertainment. The space has a beautiful interior, porch and back patio area to spend your vacation relaxing with a book!
I stayed at this adorable place for a week. The inside was very well cared for, clean and welcoming. Even though it is a studio the layout allows for the feeling of openness and plenty of space to store clothes, luggage, etc. I loved the bathroom and nice standing shower. Understanding that water is a precious resource on an island, I didn't mind conserving water! The porch is lovely and a great place to sit and have a cup of coffee. I enjoyed being right in Coral Bay, able to grab a burger at Skinny Legs or wall down to Pickles for breakfast. Also within short driving distance to BEAUTIFUL (and fairly secluded beaches). Thais, the property manager was so welcoming and friendly. Fully explained the property and have me great tips about island life. Felt from our interactions that if I had any problems (which I didn't) that she would be readily available to help. Needless to say, a weeks vacation at this beautiful spot left me feeling completely refreshed!
The place is luxuriously furnished however the basics didn't function.
By the time we were ready to rinse the shampoo out of our hair the lukewarm water was cold. We were told once that clothes must be washing then suggested to turn the water off when soaping up to conserve. There was a problem with the water not being hot that was being ignored by the rental company and the VRBO manager. Windspree said to talk to the manager, the manager didn't resolve the issue and follow-up communication was poor.
There was only one window with a screen that we could open at night so the air had to be turned on. Once in bed and falling asleep after 15 - 20 minutes had passed it turned off with an E4 error message...every night. Again, Windspree said to get with VRBO manager. An attempt was made one night to fix by manager however it E4'd again that night. There was not any follow up by anyone concerning this...not Windspree or VRBO manager...other than implications that we don't know how to use the remote.
There are about 3-4 big power lines running across the front of the place within feet of the deck. In addition to Skinny Legs being directly across the street....you have to love the constant smell of hamburgers noon to night.
I think it would serve better as an office or year round accommodations. I would not rent this again.
We loved this little apartment, amenities and aesthetics were great. Perfect for couple.
Only complaint is the bed is a bit uncomfortable and the donkeys & chicken woke us a few times. You need a vehicle to get to the beaches. Felt safe and comfortable.
