The villa was originally built as a jungle guest house by my uncle. We have enlarged the hiking trail network and gardens and converted the property to a vacation rental. I still have full time work in Florida but enjoy as much time off as I can get in the jungles of Costa Rica.
Stephen purchased this Villa in 2007
Why Stephen chose Dominicalito
Our location is key - a secluded tropical mountain setting yet close to the ocean and town. The area is secure and access is easy. In addition, the temperature is moderate here at the higher altitude and the variety of wildlife is amazing.
What makes this Villa unique
Set on 60 acres of private tropical forest with jungle swimming pools and waterfalls make this property unique. We have hiking trails to access the natural wonders around us. There is a full staff to insure your comfort. Our concierge comes each morning to cook breakfast and is available to help arrange the days activities. Housekeepers tidy up each day and there is 24 hours per day security. The cooks will come each evening on request and charge just a very modest fee, Our concierge services are included with the rental. he can arrange passenger van shuttle for guests going to/from the airport, beach or activities. Amazing house and staff!
We absolutely loved our stay at Villa Los Aires. There were 16 of us. We used the main house and 2 rooms in the guest house. The rooms were very large and clean. The house and the views were stunning! The staff went above and beyond. We were able to do so much because of Pablo's help and suggestions. We were in contact with Pablo before our arrival to discuss excursion options, meals and travel. The first day we all sat down with Pablo and planned out the week. He booked all excursions/guides for us and we just had to show up. It was great to have a plan so we could just relax and have fun. Pablo also accompanied us on trips whenever we wanted him to. The breakfast they provided every morning was great and the dinners they cooked for us were outstanding. We definitely recommend having them cook for you a few nights. We were surprised how little the meals cost as dinner included appetizer, dinner and dessert. I do recommend traveling to the house during daylight on the first day or taking a shuttle to the house. I was a bit too sure of myself and said I'll find the house with no problem. Well...we got lost at the end of the trip when you take the dirt road. It was a crazy experience but probably our funniest memory! Once you find the house the first time there is no problem driving on your own. The last 10 minutes of the drive would be very tough without a 4x4 as the roads are very rocky as well as steep at some points. We really liked the hikes to the waterfalls on the property. Rigo was the best. He went on the hikes with us, helped with the hot tub, BBQ and anything else we needed. We felt like he was part of our family.
We stayed at the property for 7 days in April and there were 4 adults and 3 teenagers. What an absolutely amazing week! Definitely need a 4x4 to get to the property which is a bumpy 10 min ride off the main road but is so worth it! The view is incredible and the sounds of nature all around cannot be beat. The staff was excellent and very helpful. Pablo was wonderful everyday giving us ideas of where to visit, making reservations, ideas on restaurants and even showing us his hometown of San Isidro de El General to get groceries and have dinner. Anything you could need or want is at the home and if it is not, Pablo does his best to take care of it. Coffee was always ready when we woke up and breakfast was made at whatever time we were ready for it. We had dinner with Patricia the first night that we arrived and it was excellent. All the staff is so friendly but not intrusive. "Rigo" (afternoon security) was so nice and helps with everything from getting the hot tub ready to helping start the grill. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone wanting to experience Costa Rica.
La Vida Suntuosa
It is not completely easy to get there, and it shouldn't. This is where you want to go if you want majestic panoramas in a romantic movie location.
The attention you get from Pablo, the wonderful food from Patricia, and the kindness of the entire team are unique.
We highly recommend a trip with a private guide to Hacienda Baru if you are a lover of nature, and a horseback ride with Pablo's uncle. These will leave memories that will last forever.
Perfect setting for a small group of friends that get along well together and share a common love for the beauty of Costa Rica. Trogons and toucans were daily sightings amongst many others.
Indulge yourself, you will have no regrets. Pura Vida.
A nice retreat
Absolutely beautiful secluded setting. Definitely agree with the advice to have a 4-wheel drive rental car! Very rocky uneven road to get to the villa. Wifi did not work while we were there. Very VERY difficult to contact Pablo and plan events in a timely fashion, so I would definitely plan your own outings. Meals that were prepared for us by Patricia and staff were excellent and well worth the money! Air conditioning in the rooms worked well except for during the heat of the afternoon (in mid February).
What a great trip and beautiful place!
We all had a great time! Terrific staff, clean, great layout. Hot tub and pool definitely got some use. You will require a 4wd to access
Do yourself a favor and engage and get to know Anthony, Pablo, Reco, Patricia etc. They have lots to share and can make your stay even better. We even took Anthony out with us on the Catamaran. Do not bother with Baru wildlife...we saw more at our villa! Monkees, toucans, and other jungle creatures all came out to visit us during our 8 days. Go north up the mountain away from dominical to the city market and also recommend the Whales tail and Quepos catamaran. Dominical beach is rocks so don't think your going there to lay out.
Overall, great trip.
Wonderful tranquil setting high in the mountains above Dominical, in Caña Blanca, yet only 12 km to the ocean. The villa is fully staffed with daily concierge, housekeeping, maintance, evening waiter and security. The house sits on a 66 acre private reserve of tropical forest with incredible 360 degree jungle and valley views and an abundance of wildlife and natural water formations on the property. An Eco-friendly dream scape with lots of hiking, swimming and nature watching opportunities. Easy access to Nauyaca Waterfalls, the highest and grandest waterfalls in the Southern Pacific Zone of CR, horseback riding, and the beaches/surfing at Dominical. Just 30 minutes from San Isidro de El General, a pleasant small city with full services.
Other Activities: Jungle hiking, waterfall repelling, rock climbing, ocean kayaking, canopy ziplines
