About Diane and Alex Balberde

We have always loved the Big Island as Alex was born and raised on the Hilo side of the island. We were fortunate being able to purchase our condo once being retired so we could spend as much time as possible in our "home away from home."

We manage our condo so please call us with any questions you may have. 703-278-8465 or 703-475-0028 (cell). Mahalo!

Why Diane and Alex Balberde chose Kona Coast

We know the island fairly well and have stayed in many resorts and Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club is by far the very best.

What makes this condo unique

Being ground floor just steps from the ocean with a magnificent view is unbeatable.

Everything was fantastic! My husband and I, and our two daughters (12 & 14) all feel that this is the best place we've ever stayed while in Hawaii - and we have used VRBO's a lot! The kitchen was fully stocked with everything one might need to prepare all meals. You can tell the owners are very proud of their place as it is well-organized, clean and fully-stocked. We took advantage of the coolers, beach chairs, boogie boards and paddle game often. The 180+ degree view is breathtaking from this condo. We saw whales breach directly out front while enjoying meals on the large lanai. My daughters loved their beds, the big pool, and they also loved to walk right out from the lanai to the grass. My husband I and I would have preferred a firmer bed, but that is our preference and that is being picky. It was so nice to listen to the sound of the waves while falling asleep. | miss it so much!

Diane responded promptly to all of my questions and the restaurants she suggested were all wonderful. The location is close to a large grocery store (walkable in 10 minutes) and Keauhou Bay as well for boating adventures. I would definitely recommend Condo 4-104 and think it's in one of the best locations at the KSRC. Thank you again Diane and Alex -we all miss your place so much! It was a perfect home-away-from-home for our family and if we go to the Big Island again, I would certainly stay at 4-104! Aloha!

The Best Yet!!!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have had many trips to the Islands over the years, and this condo exceeded any that we have stayed in! The location was perfect--situated on gorgeous lava framed waterfront with unobstructed views of the bay. We watched a couple whales spout and dive our first morning there and could see the cruise ships arrive and depart (only a couple days, but a good time to avoid downtown Kona!) The unit was well equipped and the beds and furniture were very comfortable. We enjoyed our Kona coffee and papayas on the expansive lanai each morning to the sounds of tropical birds and crashing waves. We had the best shaved ice on the Islands nearly every day at Aloha One (using pureed tropical fruits as their syrup and macadamia nut or coconut ice cream in the center). We took side trips to Havi, a darling town at the north end of the Island, and an overnight trip to Volcano House situated on the rim of Kilauea, which was quite active during our visit. It's amazing to see molten lava up close and personal!! The hikes along the rim, complete with steam vents (which were very welcome on the day we visited) and to the lava tube were easy. The snorkeling at Kahaluu Beach Park is the best I have ever experienced in all my travels (get there by 9 a.m. before the bulk of the tourists arrive and you'll get to swim with turtles!). Very nice cafes and restaurants within walking distance. Don't miss GypSea Gelato, just a short drive from the condo (yes, we like our desserts!!) This will be a vacation you will not forget, and a condo that will rank among your top!!

Location, location, location!

  • 5 of 5

I've been to the Hawaiian islands 10 times, and this was the best location I have experienced. The condo was right on the ocean front. We could enjoy the beautiful view, sunsets and sounds of the surf. The ground-floor, corner location of this spacious condo provided privacy and a very large lanai bordered with lawn and palm trees -- a great place for coffee and meals. One special feature of this condo is that it is located just a few blocks from our favorite snorkeling beach, Kahaluu Park. A very short drive takes you to a shopping center with a good grocery store, drug store, movie theater, and several excellent restaurants. This place met all of our needs and we loved it. Next time we come to the Big Island, we will definitely book this condo.

A Hawaiian Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and two sisters (one of home booked our reservation) stayed at this absolutely wonderful condo right on the ocean. The corner condo was perfect for beautiful panoramic views of the sea, whales and outrigger canoes and kayaks paddling by. We enjoyed many breakfasts on the lanai in the gentle sea breeze listening to the sounds of the surf a few feet away. The condo is very comfortable and a great location from which to explore the Big Island. We snorkeled several times at Kahaluu Beach Park just a few hundred yards from the resort. It is one of the best snorkeling beaches on the island. The Keauhou Shopping Center is only a few minutes away and can be walked to from the resort. It has everything you need - grocery store, drug store and many other shops, restaurants and cafes. We enjoyed excellent Brittany style crepes at the Peabody and Galette cafe. Using the condo as a base we visited Kailua-Kona downtown having a fantastic Hawaiian Shave Ice at Aloha One. We also toured the historic Greenwell Farm coffee plantation, only a few miles from the condo. We took and overnight trip to Hawaii Volcano National Park to see the spectacular active Kiluea Volcano caldera lava lake and fountains at night. One day at the condo I watched my University of Washington Huskies win the PAC 12 Championship on the large screen flat panel TV. In summary, we all agreed that this was the best time we have ever had on any of many previous trips to the Hawaiian Islands, and the best condo we have ever stayed in on the Big Island. You can't go wrong staying at this condo!!!

Wonderful Property

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have stayed at many properties over the years and this condo will remain one of our favorites. The lanai and open living area made for the best and most beautiful spot to retreat to after a day of adventure and exploring of the area. The condo is very clean and very comfortable. It is quiet and yet conveniently located. We recommend it highly.

Paradise in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

This condo was magnificent. Extremely clean. Attention to detail on this one. Whatever you needed was there - it was a home away from home. THE SUNSETS ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! This corner/end unit gives almost a panoramic view of the ocean just steps away from you. The splashing and hitting of the waves onto the rock is the only thing you hear while enjoying the spectacular view. The owners were great to communicate with and booking was easy. I will stay there again 100%!!!!
