Perfect for a family ski trip!

  • 5 of 5

The house is cozy and welcoming. We had 8 people - 4 kids and 4 adults. The kids stayed downstairs and the adults upstairs (win!). The kitxhen was well stocked even had a k cup coffee maker! (I usually bring my extra!). We had no snow to sled but the deer watching was just as much fun. There has to be a heard of 30+ on the golf course and they sleep in the yard! Very fun to watch them.

We will be back for sure and cannot say enough about our stay!

Lovely stay on Beech Mountain

  • 5 of 5

Had a great stay on Beech Mountain. The house is really spacious with plenty of room for our party of 10. Great wood-burning fireplace, big dining room table, vintage Viking range in the kitchen, and nicely decorated.

PERFECT FOR FAMILY REUNION

  • 5 of 5

Our family members from DC, Atlanta and Tampa met at this wonderful Beech Mt. house for the New Year's weekend. We were ages 18 months to 82 years and all had a fantastic time: the two youngest and the two oldest spent time in the house in front of a wood-burning fire.

The "kids" ages 9-48 spent all day and night on the slopes skiing, snowboarding, tubing and even ice skating. Just a perfect house so close to the slopes that everyone felt comfortable.

We prepared all our meals in the well-stocked kitchen which had loads of plates, glassware and cooking utensils so that the DW only had to be run once a day. The dining table was a generous size to seat all of us. We brought all our food to the house and bought a few forgotten items from Fred's (very fair prices for its location on the mountain).

The bedrooms were large and the beds were so comfy. Although there were two family rooms, we only used the upstairs one which was huge with a stone fireplace and close to the fridge!!

We ordered a truck load of wood from a local vendor to fuel the fireplace---well worth the money

The only concerning issue was the open staircase protected by two widely spaced wire "railings". Our two toddlers had to be watched continously to prevent a possible accident. We did try to block off the staircase with folding chairs and big pillows which helped considerably

All three generations agreed that we'd love to return to this house for another ski vacation. Thanks to John for so agreeably answering my many questions.

Very nice, spacious house with a view to the mountains

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this house over Thanksgiving with extended family and were pleasantly surprised at how nice everything was. I would encourage the owner to post more pictures of the bedrooms and surrounding views because the pictures don't do the property justice. The bedrooms were all nice, with up-to-date furniture in good shape. The master bedroom had a large bathroom with double-sink vanity, a walk-in closet, as well as a separate toilet/shower. Hardwood floors upstairs and a large fridge, convection microwave, nice dishwasher, and pantry. The oven was huge, large enough for the turkey and four sides, so we had an easier time making Thanksgiving dinner at this house than we would have at our own house! The kitchen itself could use some updating with the counters, but that's mostly aesthetics, and the kitchen was sufficiently stocked with utensils. We were able to seat 11 around the large dining room table by adding the small kitchen table to the end, and there were still 2 folding chairs we could have used. And, yes, we saw the deer in our yard every day! If there had been snow, we would have had a blast sledding on the golf course, but had there been snow, we probably wouldn't have made it to the house. We have never stayed at Beech Mountain, though we've stayed in a dozen houses over the past 2 decades up in the Boone area, so this was a first. My big surprise was how far up the mountain we went before dropping back down the other side to get to the house, which made leaving the house to "run into" Boone a lengthy excursion. It would certainly be a perfect house to stay in if we were to do winter sports up there. John, the owner, was a great help from the beginning, always quick to answer my emails and questions. When my elderly mother got to the house first and couldn't figure out the key lock, she called him and left a message. He was very helpful in explaining to her how to get into the house. Have nothing but good things to say about John and his helpfulness!

Great family winter wonderland vacation!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time! The owner was very easy to work with and responded quickly to answer any questions. I never needed to reach out during our stay because the house had everything. It was really nice to have an upper and lower living space- it allowed for the kids and adults to have separate areas to lounge. We were lucky enough to have it snow as we were arriving and throughout our stay. The kids AND adults had a blast sledding on the golf course in the backyard and the surrounding area. We also had an awesome experience skiing at the resort less than 1 mile away! Anything you need is right around the corner from this ideally located property. Thanks for a great family vacation!

A pleasant surprise, for a surprise birthday!

  • 4 of 5

I recently planned a surprise 30th birthday weekend for my husband over the MLK holiday. John the owner was very helpful and was great about getting back to me through email. As I was planning a surprise, I couldn't really communicate on the phone. I was a little nervous planning a whole function via the Internet. I had never been to Beech Mountain and wasn't sure what to expect. The reviews were very helpful when picking a location that was close to Beech Mountain Ski resort. We were extremely close to the slopes as the reviews stated and it was easy to get the ski slopes everyday. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the house, it was very large and had plenty of space for 8 people to sleep comfortable and have space. The pictures online didn't do the house justic, it's a beautiful home and location. The only suggestions I would make is the kitchen needed more dish towels, the knives were dull, and a larger cutting board would be nice. We are a group that enjoys cooking. Still, the kitchen had a Viking range which was amazing for the amount of cooking we did. Overall, we had a amazing visit and would definitely stay again. Thank you so much for an amazing weekend! We want to go back already!

Owner's Response: Thank you! We are glad that you had a wonderful stay. We will certainly address the knives, increase the number of kitchen towels and add a larger cutting board. Again, thank you and we are glad that you had such a great time!
