About Lee Ruddle

The last 5 generations of our family have lived in Steeple Ashton. Having lived in Australia for two years we were still 'drawn' home.

We thoroughly enjoy the rural aspect of our home and consider ourselves very privileged to live here. It has afforded us the opportunity to ‘live our dream’ with our family and much loved pets.

Lee Ruddle purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Lee Ruddle chose Wiltshire

My husband and I purchased this property in 2007, having fallen in love with it some 30years previous, it needed full renovation to become what we feel is the perfect family home. Following our children ‘flying the nest’ we decided to utilise the space and spilt the property in two and create a self contained holiday home. Prior to owning this property we had renovated another holiday home in the heart of Steeple Ashton and thoroughly enjoyed this experience.

What makes this cottage unique

For many of us the hustle and bustle of everyday life is constant. However both we and our guests get to enjoy the relaxing, rural environment that this home has to offer with the added bonus of relaxing in the hot tub and gazing up at the stars. Its situation means we are surrounded by wildlife at its finest, enhanced by a brook running through the centre of the garden. Yet all of this is within a short walk of Steeple Ashton and all its amenities.

Peaceful, charming cottage. A real find.

We had a wonderful stay at Lee and David's cottage. It is a really comfortable home from home. Equipped with all you can think off to make your stay perfect, even a hot tub in the beautifully planted garden. Easy to find, five minutes drive from the local pub, The Longs Arms which is a very friendly place that does great food. This was a perfect base for us to explore Salisbury, Stonehenge which is nearby, Avebury Shaftesbury Stourhead Gardens and Bath is close too.

Lee and David are lovely people who made us so welcome. Shame we had to leave after four nights but we know where to stay for Wiltshire in the future, sitting on the patio in the evening, surrounded by total silence, and the beautiful night sky was heaven.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review. For future guests it is great to hear from some one who has actually stayed. During your short stay you managed to explore quite a bit, as you mentioned many of these beautiful places are really quite close to us. The beautiful night sky and silence at night are really quite magical! I do hope we see you again, regards Lee and David

Beautiful property with very thoughtful finishing touches.

We came here on our honeymoon, it is such a beautiful cottage and spacious, the pictures look lovely but in person the cottage is amazing and it is so cosy and relaxing! We had lots of days out visiting sites that are a short drive away such as Bath and Avebury.

The hot tub was a bonus and Lee and David were very welcoming and friendly. We had a fantastic week!

We hopefully look forward to coming back again.

Thank you!!

Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

A lovely cottage, spacious and tastefully decorated. The garden is very secluded with places to sit in the shade and in the sun. The hot tub was gorgeous and made you feel very relaxed. Lee and David are extremely nice people on hand if needed but leave you to enjoy your holiday. Wish we could have stayed longer but will be next year for a longer stay. Thank you both for a lovely stay.
