Wonderful experience!

  • 5 of 5

Marybeth has an amazing place and we were very happy renters! She was extremely accommodating for us and our dogs. She had amenities waiting, great info on the city and a well stocked cottage. I'd go back in a heartbeat and suggest you check it out before it's always booked.

A romantic, but not too girly, respite

  • 5 of 5

My husband couldn't make this trip and all I could think of was how much he'd enjoy this cottage. The sound of the river flowing by, the occasional added entertainment of watching families float by with dogs, even saw a cat, plus having every amenity possible provided for guests, makes this place ideal for couples. I was here for a yoga training that was very intense and I was grateful to have this quiet respite to come back to each day. Marybeth is the perfect hostess. We'll be back, next time to enjoy Bend's hiking trails, restaurants, and arts scene.

I didn't want to leave!

  • 5 of 5

Oh, so cute & idyllic. Marybeth has completely everything a person would need in this little place from interesting books, toiletries, movies & an outdoor grill & stand alone stove burner & all the utensils needed. The river is actually 12 feet from the bed across a lovely patio! One could really call it "glamping" if you left the doors open at night to hear the ripple of the Deschutes River against the old willow tree.

It's exactly 8 tenths of a mile walk to downtown Bend along Riverfront Drive & then through Drake Park. My hubby & I walked that twice a day for meals & shopping. Watching people floating the river inspired us so we floated too. It's also a close walk to The Old Mill district.

I'd especially recommend this for a romantic get away or for a single person seeking a private retreat. Even though it is close to other houses, the riverside patio is very private. I had a hard time leaving it was so sweet.

Great Place to Stay in Bend Oregon

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I definitely enjoyed our week long stay here in the cottage by the river. Everything is perfectly described and more. Nice and cozy for two people and very relaxing with the river right outside your door. You can use the gas grill and enjoy an evening on the deck just outside your cottage right next to the river. Plates, bowls, glassware, forks, salt/pepper etc are already there. Small refrigerator for grill leftovers or from the great breweries and restaurants. Only went to 4 breweries (there are 14!) and did the beer flights. Although all were a great experience I thought that Crux Brewery (great sunset views from the parking lot) had excellent beer and complimentary food. I loved the Doublecross dark Belgian-style ale and their Beet/Spinach salad. Naked Wines in the Mill District is also a place to visit (have their flights and cheese/olive dish) after seeing the nice shops in the area. Level 2 had good happy hour and music on Thursdays. Greg's Grill also in the Mill District was a nice highlight. Reserve a window table for sunset views and a great meal. We enjoyed the roundabout tour with a brochure explaining the art and a good way to learn how to get around the town. There is also an art gallery tour brochure and some really nice work from local artists. After a long day of touring the town or hiking/rock climbing (we just enjoyed the beautiful view and watched the many rock climbers) in Smith State Park the cottage on the river is the place to come home to relax before going out to eat. Other places we enjoyed: Victorian Cafe (good Bloody Mary's for breakfast), Chows, Kababas, Alpenglow, Sweet Saigon or Pho Viet Cafe for great seafood pho. Although all were a little pricey compared to where we live the quality of food made it worthwhile. We never found a place we did not like. Yes we had a great time in Bend and our stay here at Marybeth's cottage made our visit even better. When we come back to Bend we plan to stay at the cottage for sure!

Best Getaway Spot

  • 5 of 5

I wanted to surprise my boyfriend for his birthday with a long weekend in Bend, and I came across this property and thought 12 feet from the river, I'm there! When we arrived the fridge had cold beers and snacks, so we went out on the patio to relax and enjoy the view and WHAT A VIEW it is! We fished off the patio and caught a couple rainbow trout. The cottage is cozy and well organized. We were able to walk in to town and enjoy the park that a block or two away. The shower is AMAZING with plenty of water pressure and room! I have no complaints about this property. The owner has thought of everything, all you need to bring is your clothes, the rest is already there! She even provided local, delicious coffee! We look forward to returning to this paradise in the near future!
