Charming, four-floor Lilac Court townhouse in the West End of Provincetown. Perfectly situated on a quiet street near Shankpainter Pond, yet just a few blocks walk into town. End unit has large windows on three sides looking out on the Provincetown Monument and a beautiful garden courtyard. Each guest bedroom is on its own floor, with a light-filled living room, kitchen, dining area, and small deck on the top level. Above the top floor is a large roofdeck with panoramic views across Provincetown--from Race Point to Provincetown Harbor. Deeded parking and everything you can think of is provided (appliances, stereo system, gas grill, etc.) The house is full of fun works of art from around the world. Guests tell me that they find the house a very magical and special place.
NOTE: Everything has been made even more beautiful this year with all new furnishings and decor. Brand new, ultra-quiet zoned air conditioning is now installed in each room.
I am looking for renters who will enjoy all the special touches and treat the house kindly; if you're looking for a place to get rowdy, this is not the right condo for you.
I have been traveling to Provincetown every summer since the year I was born. Provincetown and Cape Cod are very special to me. I feel unbelievably blessed to be able to have a home in such a beautiful, quiet location.
Jonathan Rotenberg purchased this townhome in 1996
I looked at more than 30 properties over the course of 2 years.
What is really remarkable about this location is that you don't need a car—everything is within a short walk or bike ride. And yet, you also feel far away from everything. It's a very quiet Street and the condo is located close to Shankpainter Pond.
The condo is amazingly well designed for adults on vacation. Each guest (or couple) gets their own private floor of the building.
The living room, kitchen & dining area are on the top level, affording gorgeous views of the Provincetown Monument and Provincetown Harbor.
The most delightful surprise, though, is the expansive roof deck. Except when the foliage is in full bloom, you can see all the way to Race Point Beach in one direction; Shankpainter Pond in another; and Provincetown (and the Harbor) in another.
We had a great time at this West End PTown condo! It was so close to town, had great views, and very roomy! We loved the working fireplace, the spacious bedrooms and Jonathan was super accommodating and helpful! We would highly recommend this as a great vacation spot!
A couple of friends and I stayed here over Columbus Day weekend and it was the perfect spot. The photos are very accurate - if anything the townhouse is even nicer in person. The outdoor space is great - the panoramic roof deck is awesome and there's also a smaller deck off of the living room / kitchen level. The bedrooms are spacious and feel very private being that they're each on separate levels. The residential neighborhood is nice and quiet (at least during the off-season) and centrally located. It's a 5-minute walk to Commercial Street while also located close to Stop & Shop and a short drive to the National Seashore beaches. There are 4 levels of living space (including the roof deck) which results in a decent number of stairs as previous reviews have indicated but we found them to be a good way to burn off some of the calories from eating and drinking our way through Ptown all weekend. One small thing that made the weekend that much easier was the keyless entry - the townhouse is accessible by entering a code on a key pad thus preventing the need for anyone in the group to be "in charge" of the keys. The owner, Jonathan, is very responsive and couldn't have been more helpful. He provided plenty of suggestions for things to do in the area and made himself available via phone/text/email in case we needed anything. I recommend this property and would most definitely stay here again.
Okay, the place has stairs... it’s a townhouse.... and it’s a great place to stay!! Everyone has their own floor and after a day of biking, the beach, or out on the town ... whether on vacation with friends or family... everyone needs quiet and privacy, and this townhouse condo provides it. The top floor living/kitchen space and roof deck provide a wonderful gathering place for breakfast, sunbathing, early evening cocktails and dinner. Easy walking distance to the center of town... close to Stop and Shop, easy access to beach whether driving or biking. We loved dining at nearby Victor’s and Heaven! Thoughtfully appointed and very tastefully furnished with a contemporary coastal flair. The neighborhood is quiet... very refreshing to have a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of Commercial Street. This property is not designed to be a party house, but if you are looking for fresh air, lots of natural light, beautiful views and relaxation, this place is for you. Thanks, Jonathan, for making a our vacation a success.
If you don't like to walk and you can't do stairs, this is not the place for you. There are 12 stairs from the 1st floor to the 2nd and 12 stairs from there to the top floor which is where the living space is. The stairs were hard to take the first day and then got better the more we did them (free exercise). I didn't count the ones going down to the basement and the other bedroom nor the ones going up to the roof deck. You can walk to Commercial St. within minutes so the location is perfect. Everything you need is there in the townhouse. Jonathan is close by with any questions and is very helpful. You should plan to drive to the beaches if you are carrying lots of stuff. If not, a bike ride would do. I prefer Herring Cove because the water is warmer. If you rent within the next few months please be aware that there is no way to watch regular TV because the set up is a Roku. The wireless internet works perfectly. I really liked this place and would rent from Jonathan if I decide to go back to PTown. Thanks Jonathan!
What could be better than a quiet West End location a short walk from town, featuring all the needed amenities plus every tech bonus you could want. The owner is delightful and helpful, and is eager to make sure your visit is excellent. Clean and well-maintained, the house is airy and bright, with great views. We'll be back!
Most pleasurable week in some while for me. Your place was comfortable, well stock and perfectly located away from it all and yet close to it all. I spent so much time on the roof deck reading quietly or having wine & dinner with friends. Our first sunset on the deck did not disappoint. The colors along with the surrounding view made the long trip from NYC worth it. We new that it was going to be a special vacation. Sorry I had to leave!
There's no place on earth like Provincetown. It's where the Pilgrims first discovered the New World...a very old New England fishing village...a vibrant community of classical artists, inspired writers, and audacious drag queens...a vacation mecca for everyone...a place that combines the sophistication of an urban village (with many wonderful restaurants, galleries & cultural events) with breathtaking beaches, dunes, forests & moors. It's constantly changing and full of surprises. It's an especially wonderful place for gay and lesbian people to vacation...where you can just be yourself.
