We had a wonderful girls weekend here with a troop of four women and two dogs. The house was in a nice location with amazing views of Star Lake. The neighborhood was lovely! The house was spacious and had everything we needed. Nothing could compare to the autumn views and the rainbow of fall foliage out the window. The owner was easy to work with and gave great information about the local area. The Belmont General Store is within walking distance , and I believe it had the world's best egg and cheese on a roll :) There is no cell service at the house but just drive into Ludlow for food and cell service is great. This would be a really nice spot for a larger group or a family due to the extra fun amenities in the basement ----ping pong and other games! The house was clean and well maintained. The fresh spring water was a treat. The wood stove kept us toasty warm especially when we had unexpected October snowfall. The security deposit was returned promptly. I would love to visit again and I recommend it to others.
We had a lot of fun visiting the place off ski season. Biking on the country road, Memorial Day weekend actually has an art festival which we got to go visit a lot of art studio in the neighborhood.
Row boat and fishing on the lake, fish is small but easy to catch
Some kids also jump to the lake to swim, water Warmmer than expected.
It was great memory!
We had a very enjoyable and relaxing vacation at Tom's house. We all (me, my mom, uncle and dog Barney) loved how close of a walk it was to the lake and also to the general store. We were still able to go kayaking and rowing despite the weeds in Star Lake (they are currently rebuilding the dam), which was nice. The house was clean and had all the basics. It was very pleasant to just sit on the deck. Barney's favorite part was running down the path through the small wooded and wild flower area down to the lake :-) Tom was very attentive whenever I emailed him about the rental.
Two families with 18-year old kids and a dog, we stayed in this house the week of Christmas 2014 and loved it! It was our first time in this property as the house we had booked before was not available. The view to the lake is beautiful, the house is spacious with lots of light and very family and kids friendly. If a place can have a good aura, this one definitely has! The kitchen is well equipped and just big enough for 6-8 people to use. The rooms are warm, clean and cozy and the family room downstairs was a bonus: we had a lot of fun with our kids playing table tennis, darts and table hockey game - a classic family entertainment. The dog enjoyed the trip as well, as we took her to long walks around the lake and up the snowmobile trail. When we were skiing, she stayed and enjoyed the spacious house. The stove that we fed with wood provided by the owner is a treat to us, urban dwellers. The house is nicer than it looks in the pictures, by the way. I hope to come back another season.
We stayed at this house in Belmont after Christmas and through New Years day 2015. Great access to Okemo skiing about 12 minutes away. Killington was about 45 minutes away. The pond/lake behind the house was glass flat frozen solid, so we brought our skates and were able to ice skate most days. A bonus was New Year's eve at 9pm, fireworks could be seen from the back deck, over the pond. Wood stove gave it comfy feel. Kids loved playing ping pong and watching DVD's at night. Overall we had a wonderful time. Thanks so much.
Still vacationing but had to take time to write a review of our stay so far. The owner, Tom, has been nothing but responsive from day one. The house is perfect for all. I am vacationing with my senior parents, family friend, my cat and dog and this house has met all of our very different needs. Great open layout, nicely stocked cabinets, clean, beautiful views from the deck, 45 second walk to the lake, down a lovely path and a less than 5 minute walk to the Belmont General store which I am quite impressed with how many items they carry despite its small size. They even have a nice little wine selection. The house is situated open enough that you don't feel stranded but private enough that my dog can safely roam, although she typically heads straight to the lake. This house is perfect for those with mobility issues due to the open layout and 4 small steps to get in the house and unloading the car is easy with the private driveway right next to the door. The actual open area by the lake is small but perfect to fit chairs and get the boat and kayak in and out of the water, and really with all that lake how much open land area do you need? There is a nice yard by the house perfect for outdoor activities and you still have lake views. The basement is great for kids and adults alike, however we have been fortunate with beautiful weather so we have been spending all of our time outside when we are not out sight seeing. Location is great with Weston, Ludlow, Rutland, Woodstock and Manchester all less than an hour drive. We have been enjoying breakfast and dinners on the deck and during the warm afternoons have been out by or on the lake. Still hoping to have a camp fire by the lake, just haven't had time so far . This is my first stay in Vermont and it has been lovely and this house has made it perfect. House has wifi which has come in handy since cell service is limited but a daily walk to town allows me to check in for messages and really, while on vacation that is more than enough. I would definitely recommend this house for families (only thing is if you have little ones bring 2 gates for the deck because there are stairs), couples, seniors or a girls get away. The only thing in my opinion that is missing is a hammock for afternoon naps outside. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing and hope I am fortunate to come back next year. And yes, the drinking water is great. Thanks Tom for a wonderful stay at your lovely home. Wish we were staying longer.
