About the property

Manoir de la Groye

In the heart of Anjou, on the south slope of the Loire overlooking the valley, 2 minutes from the banks of the Loire and the 18 holes of Angers, 5 minutes from the castle of Brissac and 20 minutes from the historic center of Angers, the Manoir de la Groye is a haven of tranquility and nature in a Renaissance Italian-inspired monument on the edge of the village of Saint-Saturnin-sur-Loire.

Settled in 5 hectares of listed terraced gardens, open to the guests, the place will be the ideal starting point for your escapades in Anjou.

The new owners, architect and landscapist, carried out in 2017 a delicate renovation of the interior architecture and the gardens, in a subtle balance between old and contemporary, to welcome guests in a privileged, eco-friendly and preserved, authentic and comfortable environment.

Three charming cottages, completely renovated in 2017, have been created. All three gathered welcome no more than eight to nine customers, to guarantee you a total serenity.

The cottage named “Potager” is a large 45sqm studio for two people, arranged in the former kitchens of the manor.

The cottage named “Florence” is a comfortable 30sqm studio for two people, laid out on one level in the listed outbuilding of the manor.

The cottage named “Toscane” is a charming 140sqm house on two floors, settled in the outbuiling too. It is able to accomodate four to five people, equipped with two spacious suites which have preserved all the cachet of the historical monument.

All cottages have a private terrace with table, chairs and deckchairs and a parking space as well.

The large swimming pool and bicycles are available to guests.

The owners will pay particular attention to the quality of your stay. Welcome to Manoir de la Groye!

A beautiful and truly french experience

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights and were fortunate enough to stay in the larger accommodation, which is magnificent, decorated and furnished to a very high standard and totally totally in keeping and with the age and charm of this french manoir.

Following our initial booking, communication with the owners was excellent and after a long drive, we arrived in the evening to be greeted by our charming hosts, who remained attentive but otherwise discreet throughout our visit.

Aside from the superb surrounding gardens and general ambiance of the grounds, we also took advantage of the large heated swimming pool and the sunbeds which are available for private guests.

A useful formation sheet was provided with suggestions for local bistro's and local towns to visit, which we also made full use of . There is also a local boulangerie within a short stroll for a morning croissant or freshly baked bread.

We absolutely loved our stay here and whilst we stayed in the larger accommodation this time, which can easily accommodate 4-5 people, we had a sneak peak at the smaller one bedroom accommodations which were equally charming and of the same high standard.

We have already told family and friends about this absolute find and will definitely return at some point for another stay or two !

Thank you both .

Fabulous

  • 5 of 5

Nice cosy cottage with a view out the door of a 16th century beautiful manoir. Wonderful gardens to wander around and we were even able to enjoy the swimming pool after a day of touring. Renaud was very helpful and welcoming and we'd love to make a return visit.

Wonderful charming escape

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a weeks stay. Renaud was an exceptional host, he was very helpful and friendly. He was always available to assist, although he lived on site you had lots of privacy and was able to communicate by text when needed as to not feel like you was bothering him. The grounds are absolutely stunning, we had several relaxing walks around the grounds and the arboretum. We didn't use the pool but it looked very clean and inviting and was tucked away so you had lots of privacy. The cottage it's self was very clean and comfortable, with stunning original features, it had everything you needed for your stay. (I particularly loved the shower). The local area is lovely. The people we met where very friendly. A walk up the hill takes you to a couple of restaurants and a boulangerie. We really enjoyed the bistros de st sat. There is also a couple of river side eateries not far from the cottage but we didn't get chance to try them. All the more reason to return again next summer.

« Anjoument  »

  • 5 of 5
