My husband and I live in Falmouth Maine. This is 40 minutes away from Harpswell. We have always dreamed of having a cottage on the water. We took the plunge and purchased in beautiful Harpswell 8yrs ago. We love working on the cottage and making the cottage more charming each year. Renting out the cottage has been an enjoyable experience. We develop a nice relationship with every renter. We love how renters appreciate the cottage and natural beauty of Harpswell
Maryann Waterman purchased this cottage in 2006
We appreciate good value and believe we offer a relaxing, affordable vacation home. As other renters have noticed, we supply all the comforts of home. We believe that Harpswell offers a consummate Maine vacation. Beautiful scenery with numerous walking trails. Close proximity to everything you could want in a Maine vacation
Our cottage is just down the road from the Dolphin Marina and Restaurant. The walk there is beautiful. There is a playground with wonderful equipment within walking distance of the cottage. You can kayak from our property in kayaks that we provide.
Wonderful vacation home...right on the water! Morning coffee on the deck while birdwatching & a glass of wine @ night under the stars! House was immaculate!
Perfect location for day trips! We ventured to Portland & took a ferry to Peaks Island & took in a baseball game with the Seadogs! We also explored Freeport for outlet shopping & a summer concert @ LLBean.
Dining out could not be more convenient! We dined @ Erica's Seafood & The Dolphin Marina right down the street! Both were excellent!
Highly recommend & we plan on returning!

Very happy with the week we spent at this cottage, Very Clean and great value for what you got. Owners did a great job of making this a Maine waterfront getaway. Kayaks , paddles and flotation devices for your use, and the access to the water was really pretty easy, just a small slope to navigate....Setting out at high tide was perfect. Erica's Seafood just down the road was a nightly staple, takeout from there as well. Many books, games, and movies that make for a cozy evening. Definitely would recommend and will happily return.
This is a quiet, pleasa- nt cottage directly on an inlet of the Coast of Maine. At high tide, the water is only a few feet from the porch. At low tide, a vast flat extends across the view which is wonderful for bird watching. The house is well kept and clean. There is more than enough room for a couple. We would recommend this spot to anybody and will likely go back. We had a wonderful stay. We also recommend the Dolphin Restaurant and the view from the end of the point at Potts Harbor, just a short drive down the road from this cottage.
This cottage is great - we loved the location. It was very quiet and relaxing. Clean and full of anything you would need. Beautiful ocean view and easy to kayak out the door (kayaks provided). Would highly recommend it and we'd definitely go back. The seafood restaurant at the end of the street was amazing.
My wife and I had a great time relaxing at this property. It is situated quite nicely near the end of the Harpswell point where seafood can be purchased at Erica's (live lobster to bring home or steamed to eat at the picnic tables, fried clams, etc) or Dolphin Marina (sit-down, nicer place). This meant we had to do very little traveling and were free to just hang around. When you DO need some variety or groceries, Brunswick is only about a 25 minute drive and both Freeport and Portland are also close enough to check out without making it an all-day affair. I've vacationed a few times on Georgetown Island (Two points to the Northeast) and found Harpswell to be much more conveniently located.
The property was clean and had everything we needed stocked (The lobster pot saw use pretty much every day). Wifi worked perfectly and the landline provided was great for emergencies since our cell service was sketchy (Verizon - maybe something else is better there).
For most of our stay our party consisted of me and my wife with two dogs but we were joined one evening by three friends who drove up from Boston. Even with all of us, it was cozy but not uncomfortable in the least. I liked the layout of the house that kept the master bedroom as separate as possible in such a compact space.
The property itself was very nice. Flowers everywhere! Very cute! My only warning to other vacationers may be to curb your expectation on access to the water. It's there and wonderful to look at. There are stairs that lead down to the water but it is not easily navigated once down there (deep mud, sharp reeds, etc). Per the homeowner instructions, we disposed of the lobster bodies in the water (probably close to 50 by the end of the week) and the daily chore of trecking down there was my least-favorite part of vacation. My wife and our other guests abandoned their adventuring plans and retreated once reaching the bottom of the steps. It's possible (likely) that we are all just pansies though :-)
The homeowner was friendly and great to work with. Always fast responses. We would definitely recommend and/or vacation here again.
Great view. Friendly neighbors. Kitchen well equipped and well used for lobsters and mussels. Wifi worked without flaw. I would recommend for anyone that appreciates the beauties of coastal Maine. Thanks Maryann.
