About Magdalena Groszek
Artist, musician, therapist, mother, I am looking to rent and share this wonderful space with respectful others, it has been my home and is lovingly filled with many treasures/art and wonderful furniture.
Magdalena Groszek purchased this Apartment in 2004
Why Magdalena Groszek chose Charenton-le-Pont
You will be looked after! by me or my helper, we speak English, and other languages and will show you around the area, help you get around and give you advice. Unusual, quiet, huge space and light. Pretty much impossible to find in Paris. Great public transport to all tourist destinations , or walk or cycle down the river. Sleeps 6-11 people. Three Bedrooms 2 bathrooms
What makes this Apartment unique
Light, quiet, vast, terrace for sunny meals... large groups of 8+ can fit in in each apartment. 16+ for large groups or parties using both apartments. Great transport to all tourist spots, but a little of the beaten track , so no hordes of tourists, but you are in the very centre of Paris in 10 mins. Beautiful and original, great shopping 50m next door. Cinemas, markets, Parks, tourism. All close by!

Amazing apartment in a good location, with great amenities
Really amazing apartment which easily and comfortable housed 17 of us. The owner was super quick to reply and really helpful answering all of our questions. Would love to return!
Thank you Natalie, for your kind review and I'm so glad you enjoyed this special place. I 'm happy you were comfortable, it's good to know a large group has enough room. I'm also extremely appreciative that you followed the house rules, that despite being a large group, the neighbours were not disturbed and you have given me faith again in renting to groups, because the group before you were a 'group from hell' and did not follow any of the rules and made my life a misery not just for me but for my neighbours. So I'm really thrilled you had a wonderful time and would love to welcome you back again.
Comfortable for large groups, with a couple of caveats
We stayed in the upper loft only with 11 people over NYE. Prior to check-in, Magdalena was very responsive and helpful, which continued into the trip. As to the upper loft, the common space was large and spacious for such a large group, and we appreciated the quirky beauty of the loft. Overall the stay was comfortable, with a couple of caveats. While 11 slept fine in the loft (there are 3 double beds, 2 lofted twin beds, an additional single cot, and several couches), getting into the lofted beds is difficult (ladders are very painful). The bathroom situation is also less than ideal - there are 2 bathrooms but with odd configurations. One bathroom (toilet + standing shower) is adjacent to the kitchen. This is the one where our entire group showered. The second bathroom (toilet + baththub, no real shower) is very large, so good for getting ready, but does not have a door and opens straight into one of the large bedrooms. This means there is no privacy. The bathroom is also carpeted, and the bathtub does not have any walls or curtain (it is actually located in the very center of the bathroom), so it is almost impossible to shower here. The location of the apartment is also in a suburb of Paris, not an Arr., but transport to the center of city is fine via Uber or metro. Overall, we would recommend this space for groups slightly smaller than ours, and who are okay with the caveats. Our group would all stay again, as the biggest benefit, for us, was the common space.
Thank you very much for your review, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. The location is clear on the map at HomeAway it's about 600m to the 13th arrondissement, and I do describe the neighbourhood. But it's urban as you say, and the transport is easy.
I do make it clear that 11 people is a maximum and normally only suitable for families with children for that number so that the bathroom situation does not become too awkward, and also children like climbing ladders! if there are fewer people it's normally not a problem. You had asked for the extra people to stay and I did warn you that it was really as the French would say 'un peu juste'. However you are right, the communal space is amazing, and I will have a think about putting some glass walls around the bath, or at least a curtain so it could be used for showers. I have been reluctant to spoil the view from the bath which is so delightful.
I noticed you did not open the futon sofa bed in the living room which you could have used too! I appreciate all constructive comments and was very happy to have you come and stay.
Best wishes, Magdalena
Extended Family of 16 (6 Adults and 10 Kids, including 3 Teenagers)
Incredible, one-of-a-kind place to stay in Paris.
Magdalena Groszek is a fine hostess, with good communication and lots of detailed information both online and using text/email, as well as in a book inside the lofts. Just be clear on whether you want both lofts, or if only one, which one. I think my large family size, and initial miscommunication hampered our renting, but we quickly fixed it and had no issues after that. She even accelerated the between-guest cleaning so we could all check in to both lofts earlier (16:00).
We used both lofts as we had 6 adults and 10 children, and had plenty of room. The décor was unique and made this place a favorite with our entire family. Location is a little hidden, in the middle of a mixed industrial and reclaimed industrial area with the actual building the lofts are in looking like an old warehouse. Nice garden area once you enter the are with other lofts surrounding the green space which lets the kids go outside, but still within the outside gates to the street.
We parked on the street (we arrived on a Sunday afternoon, so were able to find two parking spaces within half a block that cost 3 Euros daily during the week) and then walked a little over half a kilometer to the Ivry sur-Seine Metro stop. (This stop is just outside Zone 1, so we used the RER interurban trains to get into downtown Paris, which was between 15 minutes (Notre Dame) and 30 minutes (Eiffel Tower) away.)
It was relatively easy to find with the provided physical addresses, and the required codes to get into the garden and the key boxes were straightforward in the arrival instructions. Departing was also easy with clear (and simple) instructions that let us depart in a timely manner.
Thank you, Keith, for your kind and accurate review/appreciation, I think it will help other guests situate and appreciate where the loft is. I'm so glad you and your children enjoyed the space and décor, it represents many years of travel and works!
I'm glad the key safe and codes work well, I believe it takes a lot of stress of the host and guest as far as arrival and departure times go.
Thank you also for being great guests and leaving the loft clean and tidy.
I hope the rest of your vacation continued well
very artsy and cosy place, very spacious, centre of Paris is close and easy to reach by train
We defenitley had a pleasant stay in the 2 apartments. We were 2 families, 10 people in total. There were enough sofa's and corners for everybody to have some quiet time/privacy, or for the group to spend time together. The lofts are very spacious and decorated in a original, warm and artsy manner. The 2 kitchens are fully equipped and fun to work in. The rooms (and beds) are a bit variable in comfort and so are the bathrooms. The place is clean enough and the atmosphere is pleasant. The neighbourhood is quiet, with a great bakerie, some shops and restaurants closeby. Subway is very close too. We visited in winter and therefore did not spend time in the garden, which did seem very nice to enjoy with warmer weather. All in all, very good!
Thank you so much for your review. I'm so glad you enjoyed the loft. It's true some of the rooms are smaller than others, and it's definitely an artist's loft and a bit funky that way. I made a choice to keep the open spaces large and the bedrooms and bathrooms smaller certainly than the American norm! However I do try and make sure all beds are comfortable and I replace the mattresses regularly and all the sheets are very high quality. If there are any specific issues, I'd be happy to address them. I do have a list of the bedrooms and what is in them on Home Away. There are additional photos on face book. For sure it's NOT a hotel, and the prices are not hotel like either! It's an eclectic artists house, full of original art, designer furniture and super well equipped kitchens, it's not just a rental property either. That is it's charm I believe. I would hope the house is very clean, and I would ask my guests to let me know of any issues. Thanks again.
Bohemian Arty Loft Apartment
Stayed at the loft apartment in May 2015 for 5 days. Our group consisted of 2 families (3 adults and 6 children). We all loved it! Loft apartment bright, clean, modern and very tastefully decorated - loved the art!. Spacious and had all the modern appliances required. Children particularly enjoyed open plan sitting area and terrace where they could sit, chat and play.
Thank you allowing us the opportunity to stay in Paris! Truly great experience.
Thank you for your kind review, I 'm so glad you had a good time, would love to have you back!
perfect loft in a perfect area of Paris
We have rented both lofts for a long weekend Paris, with 14 people. We were truly amazed when we entered the door(s). It is a beautiful spacious loft, with a lot of room. There was more than enough place for everyone to sit and the garden is beautiful as well!
The kitchen was well equipped and we had breakfast at the kitchen table each morning.
The supermarket is very close, and very big! Location is perfect, subway station nearby. Uber is also a great way to get around!
We didn't see Magdalene, but her instructions were very clear and there is a book in the loft, with all the information you need!
We also could stay longer in the apartment and check-in earlier than the official check-in time.
We would definitely stay here again and recommend this beautiful loft to everyone!
Thank you for your review, I'm so glad you appreciated and enjoyed the space, you were wonderful guests to have to stay. I hope you enjoyed your concert!
Easy access to all tourist attractions. Many restaurants, too much to put here, drank a few good local ones, km3 is the best local, and There Are A Few small family run restaurants, Indian and Portuguese and French. A Few minutes away you-have The Whole choise of the left bank and St Germain as well as Bercy Village. Cycle or walk down the river, go running to the milliers of acres of woods and park in the Bois de Vincennes across the river.
