About The Owner

Krimmel Kottage is jointly owned by family members which includes our 97 year old mother who still enjoys her time there. You will notice that there is a long farmer's table on the side porch where 14 people were able sit to eat breakfast and the evening meal. Lunch was on the run because everyone was scattered either fishing, swimming, or visiting neighbors. We had the opportunity to see many Jubilees while enjoying our summers there. A Jubilee is a phenomenon that occurs only in Mobile Bay and one place in China. Fish come to the shore and on the surface and can be scooped up in nets.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 1952

Why The Owner chose Alabama Gulf Coast

Krimmel Kottage was built in 1952 by my Aunt Gertrude Krimmel and has remained in the family over the years. We spent our childhood swimming and skiing in Mobile Bay and building sand castles on the beach. In 2004 we installed windows on the screened porch and purchased the first central heating and cooling system. The cottage is completely remodeled and we just put a deck on the front to enjoy the cool breezes and the beautiful sunsets.

What makes this cottage unique

Krimmel Kottage is near old downtown Fairhope with shopping on main street, the ice cream parlor, antiques, art galleries, and beautiful flowers. It is convenient to Gulf Shores on the Gulf of Mexico and one hour from 300-year old Mobile, the original home of Mardi Gras in the US. There is a wonderful concrete bike trail that will take you into downtown Fairhope. The breeze from off shore and the sunsets are very relaxing on the deck over looking Mobile Bay. Listening to the waves rolling ashore gives you a calming

The city of Fairhope has clothing boutiques, gift shops and many fine restaurants. The downtown streets are lined with bright colored seasonal flowers. The sparkling lights in the trees come on at night. Fishing on the long pier at the foot of Fairhope Ave is an excellent place to fish and watch the sun go down over Mobile Bay. There are many farmers in the area that allow you to pick fresh vegetables, strawberries and blue berries. There is and Arts and Craft fair in March and Polo at the Point for the equestrians.
