Overview

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Our house is a magnificent, well designed contemporary located in the heart of the Green mountains. The location is ideal for someone who wants to experience towering mountains, or perhaps navigate the pristine, clean waters of lakes and rivers, but also benefit from the modern conveniences of well-paved roads, superior restaurants, swimming pools, and championship golf courses. After a hard day of skiing, golfing or hiking, imagine yourself soaking in an outdoor hot tub with friends under a starry sky surrounded by evergreen and birch trees with the scent of wood smoke from the fireplace. Situated on a ridge overlooking Killington Peak, it is in a private, tranquil setting but within walking distance of bars, restaurants and the shuttle.

The house at 148 Birch Lane is very spacious [2,000 sq ft.] with a great room that has a cathedral ceiling with ceiling fans and 3 large skylights. It sleeps 8 people. It has 2 bedrooms with queen beds on the upper level and both bedrooms on the1st floor each have single or twin beds that can also be joined together to accommodate couples. There are 3 bathrooms and a laundry room. The bathroom walls are tiled with glass enclosed showers and granite counters. Also, there is a 6-person hot tub and a gas grill on a huge rebuilt outdoor deck that overlooks the Killington ski trails. It also has all the amenities you need to make your stay comfortable such as a game table, wireless internet, a DVD and CD player and a large, flat screen high-definition TV. The large eat-in kitchen is fully equipped with all the gourmet tools that you need. There is plenty of room for parking in the driveway. A new living room carpet has been installed, along with high quality living room furniture. The house has propane heat and a Russo wood stove that shows the fire through a large glass panel and adds a warm ambience to the interior.

SPRING/SUMMER, FALL. A misconception about Killington is that it is a winter resort only. It could not be further from the truth. You will have access as my guest to a town recreation center located in a pristine Killington valley surrounded by green mountains. There you'lll be able to use a large outdoor heated swimming pool , tennis courts, and a baseball/ soccer field. You will have access to the Killington golf course and several miles away the highly rated Green Mt. course. Crystal and Echo Lake swimming is about 15 minutes away where there are sandy beaches, snack bars, and boat rentals or you could swim in naturally carved out pools in mountain streams. Shopping and site seeing can be found in Woodstock, Quichee Gorge, Rutland and Manchester. Other activities include hiking, biking, mountain biking on Killington trails, kayaking or tubeing the rivers or canoeing Kent Pond. Short day trips can be ,done to Burlington, Lake Champlain, Warren (Sugarbush, Stowe or Ludlow [Okemo]. Recently, Killington added a huge Activities/Fun park for the entire family that offers disc golf, a zip line, motorized mountain tours, bungee jumping, coasters and other amusements.

Please respond ASAP as the house in in demand, especially during Winter weekends. We get a lot of repeat renters so the earlier you book a rental, the better. I prefer to communicate by email: robert.johnston38@aol.com, but you may call me on my cell at 401 575 8515. Thanks, Bob Johnston

Great ski weekend

  • 5 of 5

House was exactly as advertised and Bob was incredibly responsive to requests/questions throughout the entire process. Super quick drive to the mountain and right off the main street. Everything was easy to access and made the weekend great for my group. Thanks again Bob

Killington ski house

  • 5 of 5

I rented this house in late March and I just recently rented again in July because we liked the house so much ..The Weather was very cooperative, and we used the mild temperatures to do a little mountain stream swimming and biking. The interior of the house was immaculate and you could tell that the owners took good care of it including new living room furniture; new carpets; the deck looked like it had just been redone including a new gas grill. It's a house that you can really get comfortable with. I would rent it again. I agree the pictures on the web site do not do it justice.

Nice house

  • 5 of 5

this is a clean, well maintained house that's very spacious with high ceilings in the living room, kitchen, and 3 of the 5 bedrooms. The hot tub is kept at 103 degrees and is serviced by a pool guy. All the mattresses are firm and the views of the trails are nice. Plenty of parking for cars. The KIllington market is a short walk away as are some restaurants. Big yard for kids to play in and we did a lot of grilling out on the large deck in front. The pictures do not do it justice- its a really attractive and comfortable home. We went kayaking, hiking, golfing, and enjoyed the changing colors of the trees.

Comfy, Clean, Well-Situated 5 Bdrm House in Heart of Killington

  • 5 of 5

Twelve of us rented this home for Prez Day Wknd. The home was very clean and well-equipped. We were provided with more than enough firewood to have a fire burning nearly all the time someone was in the home. The outdoor hot tub out back is surrounded by woods and works well (tho not quite as hot as I would like). What's nice, tho, is it's kept at 95/98 degrees or so--thus, it's ready to go upon your arrival. The place turned out to be nicer than I expected (based on pics). It's right off the main road & you're just a few mins from mountain base, yet a couple mins off the main road so it's quiet. All restaurants/bars are 2-3 min drive or fairly short walk. Wally/Robert were prompt in responding to my emails and provided us with all the info we needed. Any negatives? There was one bed that one of me mates had a problem with and nobody used. I didn't see it myself. Also, we were told we'd need to bring our own linens/towels (tho there were plenty of linens in the closets, we noticed). All in all, I would definitely rent the casa again and immensely enjoyed the experience.

About Bob

I am a recently retired Biolgy/physics teacher who loves Vermont almost as much as the NE Patriots. I enjoy racquet ball, jogging, chess, reading nonfiction, kayaking and of course skiing.

Why Bob chose Killington

It is simply the best skiing in the Northeast (Killington). Lots of new carpeting and i enjoy our new rocker swivel living room chairs

What makes this house unique

location, privacy, spaceous interior, using the hot tub under a starry sky.
