Laycie Love purchased this house in 1972
Everything I have done in life is with purpose. Now that I am retired, I still do things in a way to serve others. My properties have a very special place in my heart & the families that comes to visit are forever etched in my memories. It is an honor to now be able to share these places I have been fortunate to be able cherish in my lifetime. Every plant, painting & piece of furniture on my properties reflects my passions. I feel it is a blessing to be able to host our worldwide ohana at our 'Heaven on Earth.' There is no doubt, you will love our property just as much as I do & will return as soon as you can…

Working with Mike has been life-changing & I enjoy learning everything about the homes & the guests that come to join us. My experiences continue to be rewarding as I am able to share these beautiful Hawaiian homes with wonderful people day to day… Thank you for visiting with us! Our Hawaiian family gets bigger & more awesome daily :)

This was our second time staying in this house & I would never want to stay anywhere else! We love the views & seeing the turtles every day. Thank you!!! We will be back for sure! It's beautiful here & very relaxing!
This bungalow is like it's pictures, in a more quiet area on the far east ocean side of Diamond Head. The place was clean, beds comfortable, yet maintenance items need to be taken care of: #1 fixing the old rusted latch on the south front yard gate, such a safety issue, even the duct tape has rotted off, #2 fixing the main bathroom floor by the door, the floor is spongy under the vinyl sheet goods, #3 replace some of the soft 2x4's on the pier, another safety issue, #4 bungalow needs more than just 1 TV set, #5 check out the refrigerator, the people before us had it set on 5, so our carrots froze, #6 bedroom should have night stands and not mismatched TV trays, #7 go through your snorkel equipment, my husband & I had faulty ones, #8 up your insect spraying, as we had 2 cockroaches & 2 small lizards, #9 there was no hot water for main bath shower, just warm, #10 one leg of the tree house ladder is broken, safety again.
If you say you are to show up, then please do. IF you splurge on this bungalow, like we did, just because the owner Mike can also take you out on his boat for a cruise of the small islands, then you should be informed that Mike & the boat would not be available after all. If check-out is at 10, and the maid shows up with fresh laundry at 8:30, that is not nice.
If you have never been to this place before, like we hadn't, then you come in the locked gate, down a side drive, then drive across the lawn in front of their other 2 rental units to park by the fence, as this lawn area is your only driveway too. To go to their beach and pier, then you use this lawn as your sidewalk as well. IF a wedding is planned, they can take over the places and you have 2 choices, leave and do other things or stay inside and watch TV. In our experience, the wedding people were nice, but we were asked to not be there between 9 & 12, as the morning wedding was at 10...but then it lasted until evening. Not wanting to upset a bride's dreams of a Hawaiian wedding, we did both so were not in their way. I would NOT recommend this place IF a wedding will be held. The other 2 rental units need to be informed that our bungalow unit needs to use the driveway lawn and sidewalk lawn too, and not to gaze and stare at us for doing so. We were told to use one side of the garage, this was not possible with the wedding group taking over the garage too - but parking by the fence was okay with us.
This home is adorable and possibly the cleanest and most organized vacation rental we have ever stayed. Agree with other reviewers that the kitchen is well-stocked and the appliances were also very nice. We found the beds to all be comfortable. The back room did suffer at times from road noise; however, the front room enjoyed the lovely rhythms of the ocean. The A/C worked well for all spaces in the home which was important to one of the members in our party.
Our time outdoors at this home was the absolute best... we were able to access the water and enjoy use of the water toys we found in the homes outdoor storage. We even spotted a turtle while snorkeling to the right of the pier! A short walk from the home toward the left, we found Pahonu Pond... (check google earth)... you feel like you are in a huge swimming pool and the historical aspect is interesting. We also learned while there from other tourists that this location was used in filming Magnum PI!
Home configuration notes that may or may not matter to your party: The larger (king) bedroom with gorgeous ocean views does not have an attached bathroom... this room will use the huge and gorgeously updated bathroom (double vanity) across the living/dining space and likely shared with anyone sleeping on the living room day beds. The smaller, darker (also king) room in the back does have a much smaller attached bathroom (single vanity), but the toilet is separate from the sink and shower/tub and shares space with the washer and dryer. The sink and tub/shower space has a door for privacy; however the toilet/washer/dryer space has only a heavy curtain for privacy from the bedroom.
For our group of my husband and I, our young son, and my mother, the space worked well. We thoroughly enjoyed the location and the meticulous care of the home, and we appreciated the help and sincerity we got from both Laycie and Mike when we needed help! Many thanks!
We loved our stay! Everything was perfect and spotlessly clean.
Our favorite parts were hanging on the lanai reading books, sitting in the hot tub, seeing stars with little light pollution, the friendly wildlife (geckos!).
The location is perfect. And the drive to the house is probably one of the most spectacular views I have ever seen.
I can honestly say with zero doubt in my mind that I picked the perfect place to stay in Oahu. I narrowed it down to a house on the North Shore and one just south of the Polynesian Cultural Center. I am so glad I picked this one. It has everything, including location, location, location!
The view was stunning. The water was gorgeous with great snorkeling. The house was the perfect size for our group of 4. The location provides easy access to all over the island. Great restaurants are within 6 miles in either direction.
I already sent the house web link to several friends who are considering a trip to Oahu.
If we ever return, this is where we will stay.
This house is right on the water. Perfect for morning coffee, BBQ and sleeping with the sound of the ocean surrounding you. The kitchen is roomy, somewhat spartan supplies. Nice bathrooms. Air conditioning helps with sleeping at night. There are three rentals in this compound. The wedding group in the big house was loud a couple nights, so many people staying there...18 at my count. But they were nice and left during the day most days. Owner, Mike, is an expert sailor and took everyone but me (I blew out my knee the second day) out on his Polynesian designed catamaran ...Rabbit Island and surfing the waves. So great...so nice to provide this for us. Note on the knee, Castle Medical is fabulous just up the road 15 minutes. Waimanalo is great, a little gathering on the highway, country feel, mostly away from the crowds of Honolulu and Hawaii Kai. Nice to have access to all services, while staying in 'the country'. There was more contact with the owner than we are used to. But he is interesting, and that catamaran was fabulous, even meeting a famous artist he brought along for the sail.
We really loved the property. It was secure and off the hustle of a hotel. You could see turtles and plenty of tropical fish. The Hawaii 50 connection was great. Would stay there again.
Our homes offer the best of both worlds: old Hawaiian style cottage living with all the modern amenities needed (plus more!). We provide authentic island style accommodations right on the beach, away from the hustle & bustle of Waikiki. We are in the small country town of Waimanalo, but are still just 15 minutes to Kailua Beach & Lanikai Beach, 25 minutes to Honolulu Town & Diamond Head, 45 minutes to Pearl Harbor & a 1 hour drive to the infamous North Shore. Waimanalo is home to one of the World’s most beautiful beaches as well as a few locally owned & operated restaurants & shops.
When you look out your window or step out onto your lanai (porch); you’ll see a heavenly view of Rabbit Island & the infamous Waimanalo ocean blues plus the majestic Ko’olau Mountain Range! Stroll down to your front yard & hunt for sea glass & seashells because you are ON the beach…
Enjoy your morning coffee (we recommend Hawai’i-grown Kona) & sunrise on our private pier, on one of our hand-made benches or even on your lanai (porch). Be sure to be on the lookout for our Hawaiian sea turtle ohana! The endangered “Honu” aka Hawaiian Sea Turtles love playing in the crashing waves of the Pacific…
During winter months (December to March) keep your eyes open for Humpback Whales!
Waimanalo Beach offers some of the SAFEST swimming & MOST SUPERB snorkeling in the Hawaiian Islands! The natural reef & plentiful native corals & fish provide protection to our coastlines & a plethora of color under the sea, sure to captivate you & your family… Some favorite guests seen from our pier include: the State Fish; Humuhumunukunukuapua’a & State Mammal; the endangered Hawaiian Monk Seal. We provide snorkels, fins & masks plus fishing gear upon request.
Waimanalo Bay Beach & Makapu’u Beach, both world-renowned for body surfing & are two of Oahu’s top boogie boarding beaches for beginners, are less than 2 miles from our Beachfront Villas PLUS we provide boogie boards for your use so you’re all good to go!
We LOVE our FREE CONCIERGE services from SeekSpot! Ask us or our SeekSpot Ohana about: Hiking, Beach-Combing, Meditation, Outdoor or Indoor Yoga, Scuba Diving,
