Great Bar Harbor village location with some ocean views on second and third floors. Four decks for relaxing outside. Bike from house into Acadia Nat'l Pk, and walk to concerts/Historic Shore Path/shops etc..This 100 year old house was renovated to enjoy the company of family and friends while giving some spots to be alone to read or relax. Entering the house there are unusual glass windows on the cypress wood porch. House has two living/dining areas, two kitchen areas, washer/dryer and bedroom on the first floor. The front second floor leads into a tower with a master bedroom, bath and deck on the third floor. House is located 1/2 block from the water and several blocks from pier, Free Transportation into the park, Main street, and an island you can walk to at low tide. Great for a diverse group to enjoy all the island has to offer without the need for driving. Need more/less space contact us and also see Ambrosia Cooking School.

We stayed here with a group of 14, and there was plenty of room. The house is perfect for relaxation (four porches! ample common space downstairs!), well-equipped for cooking, and located perfectly for adventures in Bar Harbor and in the park. We didn't need to drive all week-- we could walk or bike to trailheads and the carriage trails! If we'd wanted to, we could have easily taken the free park bus to other parts of the island. The house is also located right in Bar Harbor and within a 5min walk of the grocery store, cafes, and the sandbar out to Bar Island. Would highly recommend and we hope to come back!!
This house easily accommodated 11 people with plenty of space and facilities. It is not the Ritz or the Grand, and it is not a mansion. It is homely and comfortable and in an excellent location. Group activities and individual freedom was easily achieved. The three bathrooms meant that there were minimal waiting times. The beds were all very comfortable and the rooms airy. The house needs some TLC, but as it is towards the end of the season, that is to be expected. We would all stay here again.
Seamist is a great place for a larger group and you can't beat the location. We enjoyed our time there and it was great not to get in the car and drive. We took the Island Explorer for all but 1 trip into Acadia and walked to everything else. I didn't miss trying to find parking at the popular sites along the loop road. Seamist is an older home with an older feel but its still a good place to stay. We enojyed having the convience of a home away from home and would stay there again.
The Location could not be better - I mean Excellent - walk around town, catch the bus (do not have to drive once you get there)! I put my AAA in a location where the next traveler could use if they wanted. Lots to do. Ice Cream choices, everything from seafood, non seafood and oh the desserts (Chocolate in a bag share with 3 I would suggest at Michelle's). The actual rental property very nice for big group we had 13 total - 4 families. However, I was on the first floor-the "3 baths" seem misleading as there was no bathroom on the first floor. Other than that - Very Good.
Seamist was a great place for a family reunion and made a stress-free Christmas. It was very clean and we found lots of things to do at the house and in Bar Harbor. Great location.
The location of this house is indeed excellent for those wanting to be close to the downtown and harbor action of Bar Harbor. In fact, it's hard to imagine a better location than this one. We rented during the high season of 2009. The house is as spacious as described, and gave us opportunities for privacy when we wanted it for the four couples and two young people in our family party. However, we would not rent this house again.
The largest single issue for us was the mice. We understand that old houses can have mice, but we also know that it is possible to control them, and to clean up after them. This did not seem to be be happening. Cupboards and utensil drawers contained substantial accumulations of mouse droppings along with the dishes and utensils. We washed and sanitized everything in the kitchen before using it, and stored clean items on the dining table while we were there.
Other issues pale by comparison, but the lack of lighting for the uneven, brick front steps seemed hazardous, and there were some areas, such as the third floor carpet, that would have benefited greatly from better cleaning.
We outlined our concerns on our check-out form, but did not receive a response to them.
Golf: Historic Kebo Golf Course only a mile away.
Bike into the park from the house. Walk to an island at low tide.
Ski: Cross country ski equipment or snow shoe rentals are a block away. Carriage trails offer a beautiful backdrop to a wonderful winter activity.
