Beautiful, comfortable, clean

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 4 adults staying at this cabin. We had no problems to speak of. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. We were gone most of the day throughout our stay seeing all of the nearby sights and attractions. We had a wonderful time. We had no reason to contact the owner, but he contacted me 2 days before check in with all the needed information. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Beautiful cabin and property, very clean, little extras appreciated!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 9 plus one guest stayed at this cabin for 3 nights in July, 2017. Ages of the kids were 18,16,15,14,13,12,11 and 7. Everyone loved the cabin, and we especially enjoyed hot tub. We visited during some hot days (highs in the mid to upper 90's), so the air conditioning was definitely appreciated! Of all the VRBO's our family has stayed in, this was the best stocked cabin by far. Since this cabin is a bit of a drive from a store, little extras like condiments helped make our stay wonderful. The big screen TV and supply of movies were also a hit. For families with young children, there is a crib available, and an ample supply of extra pillows and blankets for the hide-a-beds and couches. The bathrooms / showers were lovely. Full size washer and dryer on the main floor, with detergent supplied - again, very much appreciated if you happen to forget detergent. This cabin also has a garage. The drivewayis a bit steep, which might be a challenge in very muddy or icy weather, but was no problem during our stay.

Our visit was primarily to see family north of Sturgis, with some time reserved for local site seeing. Be aware that the roads in the hills are curvy but very scenic; you'll spend a fair amount of time driving. We tended to spend time in the cabin mornings and evenings, and did a lot of driving to see the Mt. Rushmore area. There are ample maps and brochures at the cabin to help plan your stay. If you are a family that likes to spend time with board games, you might want to pack some of those. Playing cards were available, but I don't think there were any board games. Also remember you are in the Black Hills, and you'll likely have to drive quite some distance for a cell phone signal. However, the cabin has wireless internet which came in handy, along with a land line for phone service.

All in all, we'd highly recommend this cabin if you want to stay in the hills in comfort and solitude and enjoy driving the scenic roads. If you a want to be closer to dining, shopping and attractions, you might want to consider a hotel stay or the more 'commercialized' cabin units closer to those attractions.
