Enjoy the best of Santa Cruz all within walking distance. Stay at the ultimate Santa Cruz vacation rental house in the very popular Seabright Beach neighborhood. You can walk to the Boardwalk, the Wharf, the yacht harbor and even downtown from this location. This two story, two bedroom, 2.5 bath home has all the elements of the perfect vacation get-a-way. The home is on quiet Mott Avenue and is situated just 110 steps from Seabright State Beach, a south facing beach and the warmest, sunniest beach in Santa Cruz County. Seabright beach is 1/2 mile wide & bordered on the west by the San Lorenzo River and Santa Cruz Boardwalk and to the east by the Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor. The home is fully remodeled residence. For maximum white-water view of the bay, you’ll find all of the living spaces upstairs.
Upstairs Living Area: The living spaces of this home are located upstairs to take advantage of the fantastic white water views, of the Monterey Bay, the beautiful cypress trees, and the neighborhood roof-tops and the Seabright neighborhood but very private.
The upstairs area is large, open and very bright. At almost 600 square feet, this large living area includes the living room, kitchen area, dining area, sun room area and a convenient half bath. The area upstairs features 11, (yes eleven) , skylights and 19 windows so perhaps we should consider the whole upstairs a sun room! Not to worry, there are shades if it’s just too much. You don't need the shades for privacy though since you are high above everyone.
Upstairs Deck: The rooftop deck is 275 square feet, and is accessible right outside the upstairs living room where you can relax, listen and look at the ocean and also enjoy great views of the Seabright neighborhood. The deck enclosure design provides maximum privacy from neighbors yet maintains 100% of the surrounding rooftop, cypress trees, beach and ocean view. The capped, glass top railing also provides fabulous shelter from breezes on those cooler days, making the deck functional even during less than ideal weather.
Living Room: The living room contains a large “L” shaped built in sofa, a gas fireplace, 47 inch LCD HDTV and multimedia entertainment center. The built-in sofa can be easily converted to a two twin bed sized sleeping area if needed. The sofa cushions are 3 feet wide eight inches thick and very high quality and are very comfortable for sleeping. This isn’t like sleeping on one of those fold out sofa beds. To round out the luxury of the living room, there is a electric massage recliner chair for complete relaxation.
While visiting friends in Santa Cruz, we fell in love with the town and it's natural beauty. In 1993 we purchased our Mott Avenue home and spent many weekends there. The house was fully remodeled by 2000 and new hardwood floors other upgrades and new carpets were added in 2009. New furniture was added in 2015 including a Sleep Number bed.
Denny Carroll purchased this house in 1993
As anyone in the greater bay area can tell you, Santa Cruz offers the warmest and family friendly beaches in northern California with world class surfing and the Santa Cruz Boardwalk - one of the last seaside amusement parks left in the US. Santa Cruz is a wonderful place for young and old.
The Seabright neighborhood itself is an attraction. Whether you’re gazing from the upper deck or strolling, there are several points of interest. This is a good and safe place to walk or ride a bicycle. Go north along E. Cliff Dr., toward the San Lorenzo River to the “Point” where you can look across the river toward the Boardwalk, the Santa Cruz Wharf, the Steamer Lane Museum Lighthouse, back toward the lighthouse and Seabright beach. Wander the neighborhood and you’ll see little late 19th and early 20th century summer cottages in various styles and unique contemporary bungalows.
We loved staying in this house! The location was perfect! A few minutes walk to the beach and just a bit longer to walk to the Boardwalk. It was just a short drive to many other attractions Santa Cruz has to offer. Having the bedrooms downstairs and the living quarters upstairs worked great for having small children. We will definitely be back!
This spacious, extremely well-appointed comfortable abode, with many many custom touches (HDTV, speakers in every room, load-setting washer, ceiling fan in master and living room, dual jacuzzi/spa, garage with door opener, hot water recirculation system, convenient hose outside front door for sand removal, sleep number bed in master) sits on a corner 4 houses up from Seabright beach. From the kitchen's breakfast bar window and the 1/2- floor-up outside balcony are splendid views of the ocean. In the evening or early morning when the tide is in, sounds of the ocean can be heard from the house. Everything worked, the house was extremely user friendly (although we did not attempt the sophisticated Vizio TV, surround sound system, or DVD). And did I mention two over-the-top massage chairs? Or the sophisticated system of upstairs fenestration sporting multi-angular skylights, some with enclosed blinds? Although the Seabright area houses many vacation rentals, the feeling is of a cozy, quiet friendly local neighborhood. There are no large apartment buildings or condos nearby. Foliage on houses up and down streets in this area appears effortlessly spectacular. The Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History is less than a block from the house, and the boardwalk area and main pier, a 30-40 minute walk. I spoke with owner Denny Carroll prior to arrival; he could not have been more friendly and informative. Had there been any problems, I would have felt free to call at any time during our week's stay, but that wasn't necessary. If I were to make two suggestions for improvement they would be: 1) Add HBO, Showtime and/or other premium channels to the Cable subscription--would be great to be able to watch some movies; 2) hook up an auxiliary Aladdin or similar tankless water heater to the jacuzzi so that there's enough hot water after the main tank runs out to fill the tub to over the jets.
The location was awesome, and the living room and kitchen were fine, but the bedrooms and bathrooms were noticeably musty. They need to be updated and carpet and floor mats removed. Especially for the price.
My family and I stayed in this lovely home while in Santa Cruz for a wedding. It also happened to be my youngest daughters birthday. We decided to make it special by spending an extra day to have fun on the boardwalk. This home was perfect, as we could walk to the boardwalk. I ordered a birthday cake from the Buttery bakery and forgot candles, ugh. But, this home had extras of everything, even birthday candles! Yay! I've owned a vacation home and I can tell you, Denny is a very thoughtful owner and easy to work with. It was a super smooth rental process and easy checkout. We had such a great time here and would love to come back!
The house was comfortable for our family of four. Kitchen was a wonderful spot to cook. Close walk to beach, Boardwalk, restaurants, a small market. We did drive to Henry Cowell State Park and enjoyed walking in the redwoods one day, but other than that just enjoyed walking around. The roof top deck was our favorite!. The living area is upstairs and has so much sunlight, and in the evening the lighting was nice, able to see well to play games. Would definitely use this property again.
This vacation home was perfect for us in every way. This home is beautiful, bright and comfortable. It is even fun to cook in this beautiful kitchen as it is stocked with everything and the views are great. The Seabright location is wonderful for walking to the beach, the museums, the Boardwalk, and excellent restaurants. Drive to Moss Landing for lunch and around Cliff Drive to see lots of sea otters, seals, and birds. The owners were also very accommodating to allow us to change the dates and our deposit was refunded within a day of departure. The only disappointment was that we could only stay 3 nights. There is too much to do and see so plan to stay longer. (Oh, don't forget to bring bath soap and shampoo; The only 2 things not included)
Our home is located at the ocean on the first block of Mott Avenue about a hundred steps from Seabright State Beach and is off main roads so traffic noise is not a problem. There is a lot to do within walking distance of the house. The Santa Cruz Boardwalk sea side park and also the yacht harbor are only a few minutes walk from the house. In less than 5 minutes you can easily walk to several fine restaurants, coffee shops, bars and even a rock climbing indoor facility. The Santa Cruz Warf and downtown Santa Cruz are are about a 25 minute walk. You have one of the best beaches in California right outside your doorsteps. Seabright Beach is sometimes called “Castle Beach” by local old timers and is a great family beach. You can swim, bodysurf, beach comb, and picnic on the beach. Lifeguards are stationed on Seabright Beach during the peak summer season. At night beach fires are allowed.
