Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

This house has gorgeous views of Pawtuckaway Lake with its small islands and loons. The shore in the view has almost no houses on it, as it is state park campsites. The waterfront is totally private with about 200 feet of swimmable shore. There is a rowboat and two kayaks for you to enjoy. Also a dock if you would like to have your own boat.

The deck has a huge screened in porch next to it. The fishing is fantastic. The interior is completely pine paneled with open concept living room dining room and kitchen. The living room has a wood stove on a stone hearth. The State Park has hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, and of course swimming available and is very nearby.

This is a hard to find, special place to spend your vacation. Everyone loves it here!!

About Andrea

Hi! Here I am at the lake and loving it. I have been summering there for many years and can't think of any place I would rather be.

Andrea purchased this house in 1994

Why Andrea chose Merrimack Valley

Southern New Hampshire is a great location as you can do day trips to the ocean, Portsmouth or Boston, the White Mountains and even Maine. But mostly you won't want to leave the lake!

What makes this house unique

The lake is wonderful as it has so many interesting coves and islands to explore. There is lots of wildlife with loons and great blue herons. The fishing is excellent! There are a lot of hiking trails near the house, and the State Park is full of great trails too. The Rock climbing is a major attraction within the State Park and some people go 'bouldering' too. The climb up Pawtuckaway Mountain is a nice short hike with a look out tower on top.

Beautiful house and great host

  • 5 of 5

This is a great VRBO and we had a wonderful time.

The house is right on Lake Pawtuckaway, which is a beautiful, clear, peaceful lake in southern New Hampshire. The house is on a dead-end gravel road, so there is very little traffic. The road is in very good condition - our minivan had no trouble. The house has a large deck across the whole side of the house facing the lake. The yard slopes down to the water, and there is a good-size beach on the lake. The water is shallow and clear with a sandy bottom. Our 2-year old spend hours throwing pebbles into the water, going in after them, and throwing them back in.

There is also a small dock where we caught some tiny bass and a small bluegill - there is a bait shop on the main road where you can also rent all kinds of equipment.

The house is clean and well maintained. Clearly a much-loved vacation home. Andrea is very friendly and accommodating, and we had no issues at all.

Thanks for a great stay, this will be our first choice if we return to the area!

Wonderful views from deck, screened porch, and living room

  • 5 of 5

As soon as you open the door , you are awe struck by the beautiful view of the lake and the islands in it. The living room has lots of seating for larger get-togethers. The master bedroom is roomy and is right off the screened porch. The kitchen is well stocked and includes a dishwasher.

The beach area is a great place to launch a kayak or swim.

I would have like a washing machine, because I wanted to switch guests half way through.

There is no air conditioner, but there are fans and that was enough.

We enjoyed watching all the boat activity over Labor Day Weekend including water skiers and paddleboarders. After the weekend, it was serene.

This is a great lake for kayaking.

We were glad we didn't take our sportscar in on the dirt road. It was okay for our regular car.

Hannaford's food store is close by, and we recommend The market at the Tuckaway Tavern.

We had a great time and recommend this property.

As advertised and more!

  • 5 of 5

Well kept, comfortable vacation house with all the benefits as described. What's hard to quantify is how relaxing and enjoyable this house is. Lake Pawtuckaway is great - there is lake activity, but not too much. The views are awesome. Morning coffee on the deck is fabulous. The house provides all the amenities for a complete family vacation. We were there for 10 days and didn't want to leave.

Close to NH and Maine ocean beaches, deep sea fishing, antiquing, shopping and, of couse, the State Park. If you're on this site and considering this rental - do it. You'll be very glad you did.

Our favorite lake rental.

  • 5 of 5

Spent a week here in 2009. We rent lakehomes each year and this is our favorite lake. The lake is perfect for kayakers with many channels and small islands to explore. The larger area is ideal for motorized boating. The home is clean, well maintained and charming. The accomodations were perfect for the two of us. Had some difficulty finding a memorable restaurant eating experience locally but the Maine coast was reachable for lobster and shopping. It was a great week.

Pawtuckaway Lake is beautiful for kayaking, motor boating, hiking, fishing, and just seeing nature. The location is ideal here as it's only about 1/2 an hour to Hampton Beach and Portsmouth, on the ocean. Boston is less than an hour away and so is Maine. There is a mountain to climb in Pawtuckaway State Park with a look out tower on top, which is a nice way to spend part of your day. The White Mountains are just over an hour away too!!!
