One-bedroom, one-bath, fully air conditioned (3 AC units) oceanfront condo at the wonderful Sand Dollar Resort. This unit can accommodate 2 adults and a third person in a convertible sofa bed. The kitchen, living and dining areas look out over the Sand Dollar shore frontage, across the water north of Klein Bonaire, toward the elevations of the island's north end. The LR has a new flat screen TV receiving cable transmissions, as does the separate BR. There is a fully-equipped kitchen, breakfast bar and screened porch (lanai) with a recliner and small table seating four. Unit A15 is on the ground floor at the end of the building closest to the dive shops, yet far enough away to miss the hustle and bustle of the dive shop, pier and a restaurant right next door. You truly get the best of both worlds, being very close to the dive shop and pier, yet still having the quietness and privacy you want. A15 has ample space (850 sq ft). As you can see from the comments, every attempt has been and will be made to accommodate you and make your vacation special. The owners, Peggy and Larry, continue to upgrade the unit's appearance and ease-of-use: The internet is now accessible via a high speed modem/router dedicated to just unit A15. The living/dining/kitchen and bathroom areas have been re-painted. Both are light and airy. New food storage shelving has added to the kitchen. A new, on-demand water heater has been installed, insuring that you don't EVER run out of hot water. The dishwasher is new. The bathroom vanity and mirrored cabinet are new as is the toilet. There are new hooks in the shower enclosure for hanging wet items. The interior decor has been upgraded with the addition of framed prints on the walls of the living area and a chest of drawers has also been added. New shelving has been placed in the living area, as has a small desk and lamp for computer use and battery charging. Puppets decorate the space above the desk. In the living area, spaciousness has been augmented by addition of a new coffee table, accompanying the new couch/sleeper sofa. In the dining area, a new dining table and chairs were recently added. The bar stools are also new.
Most recently, a new dresser, bedside tables, mirror and headboard have been placed in the bedroom. In addition, new opaque curtains have been added and the walls painted, consistent with the rest of the unit. The walls have been decorated with a number of Gyotaku prints of marine animals.
Superb diving and snorkeling just footsteps from your condominium. More species of fish have been identified out front on Bari Reef than on any other reef in the Caribbean. In mid-October, 2012, Dive Friends of Bonaire became an on-site dive operation exclusively serving Sand Dollar owners and guests. Diving is available directly from Sand Dollar property, a scant 70 yds from the oceanside door. Tanks can be picked up from the same location for use at other dive sites. If divers or snorkelers prefer to work with Bonaire Dive & Adventure, it is only a few yards further and its dock is very inviting. Either shop can handle all of your needs for equipment rental, instruction, boat dive, shore dive and 24 hr secure gear storage. Dive Friends recently opened a retail shop just across the main street from Sand Dollar.
Restaurants, pool, convenient store, ice cream shop and cell phone rentals, tennis courts and grills are all on site. A spa and a gym are nearby. Sand Dollar provides beach towels for guests and also has numerous new chaise-type beach chairs placed along the waterfront for guest use.
Sand Dollar is located approximately 1.5 miles from the town center, about a 20 minute walk.
This is a wonderful resort and unit with privacy, yet has the convenience of being close to everything. It has the feeling and comfort of a home-away-from-home. Sand Dollar has the longest shore frontage of any resort on Bonaire.
The island of Bonaire was recently designated by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as having the most pristine coral reefs in the Caribbean. It is considered one of the world’s top dive destinations and is routinely voted the 'Top overall Caribbean/Atlantic destination according to quality of its diving,' and voted #1 in several other categories including, 'Health of Marine Environment,' 'Macro Life' and 'Shore Diving' (Votes conducted by Scuba Diving Magazine). In addition, Bonaire is also regularly ranked very high (first or second) in several other categories including, 'Best Overall Destination,' 'Best Value for Diving Dollar,' 'Best Beginner Diving,' 'Best Snorkeling,' 'Best Visibility,' 'Best Marine Life' and 'Best Underwater Photography.'
A truck can now be arranged along with a condo reservation. The truck price is about $315 (insurance not included)/wk and is from Avis at the airport. It is simple to arrange an unlimited shore diving package with Dive Friends upon arrival ($175/wk)/diver).
Please check with the owner for an exact rental quote, as VRBO does not calculate the taxes properly.

The Owner purchased this condo in 2010
We had dived Bonaire several times, as well as Roatan, Turks and Caicos, Bahamas, Dominica, Belize and the Florida Keys. The time seemed right to focus more on one locale. We do expect to continue going to different locations, but not as frequently. Recently dove Little Cayman and couldn't wait to return to Bonaire!
We love the easy access to the water and dive shop just steps away. Plus, we are only a 2-3 min walk from an ice cream parlor, two restaurants, deli and liquor store!
We stayed in Unit A-15 the last week in April 2009. This was our 8th or 9th trip to Bonaire, but our first at Sand Dollar.
Our experience was a pleasure from the start. The owner was gracious, honest and very helpful. The lease agreement was straight forward and uncomplicated. Best of all, when we arrived at 5:15 AM on Sunday, the guard had our room keys ready, so we were in the unit in minutes.
We loved this apartment! We immediately felt at home. Despite our careful reading of the unit description, the apartment seemed larger than we expected. There were plenty of closets and drawers for all of our clothes. The dining and living room area was spacious. We loved the screened-in porch, where we could read. Best of all, the shower in the bathroom was one of the better ones on the island!
Our dealing with Sand Dollar also went perfectly. We had a small problem with one of the AC units and Sand Dollar had the problem fixed within an hour. Housekeeping was excellent and we had all the fluffy towels we requested.
Another plus is the location of this unit. It is on the first floor, close to a parking area and a small commercial development were we purchased internet service (worked in the room), ice cream and even some very good wine - how convenient! It is a short 3 minute walk from the dive shop and dock.
Bottom line - we plan to stay there again. We loved it.
We recently stayed in this pretty, well appointed condo from March 26-April 2.
We'll definitely be returning sometime in the future. It quickly felt like home.
The accommodation is better than pictured. The owners are friendly and were
very thorough with our reservation.
The bed was VERY COMFORTABLE. We woke up each morning feeling
rested and ready!
We have an 8 year old son who was thrilled to be able to walk right out
the screened in patio door to enjoy the pretty desert, seaside garden full
of birds, conch shells and several huge iguanas along the shore line.
We had many of our meals around the table on the patio or relaxed on
the comfortable lounge in the patio area. The shower had plenty of
water pressure and hot water for a family of 3 and we enjoyed the
convenience of 2 televisions and great wifi after a long day adventuring.
Beautiful resident sea turtle immediately seaside at the Sand Dollar and
the large Elk Horn Coral teaming with fish is only about 15 feet out to the
right of the waters edge...just beyond the family of large Iguanas but left of the
Conch shell marker by the dock. Very beautiful!
It's extremely close to the dive shack, pool was really nice and relaxing, close to an amazing
breakfast/lunch sandwich and coffee cafe, Dinner next door is delicious
and the sunsets are to die for!!! Lots of privacy, very quiet and custom made
for divers or snorkelers.
Everything was perfect...almost. Living room had a funky futon couch which made one sit in a V-shape...but it was comfortable once you got used to it. I think this needs to be changed out. Otherwise PERFECT. Everything was clean, shower was large with excellent water pressure and hot water. Very comfortable bed and lots of storage space. Large fridge, dishwasher, huge screened in porch with lots of hangers for wet gear. WIFI was always available and fast. Beach and ocean only steps away. Wonderful, convenient outdoor shower and area to gear up. Snorkeling 10 feet from shore EXCELLENT. BEST SNORKELING than ANYWHERE WE'VE BEEN
(Maldives, Grand Cayman, Cozumel:Mexico, Maui and the Big Island: Hawaii) Barracudas, blue ringed peacock flounder, eels, and tons of colorful fish, parrotfish, angels, filefish especially. Easy walk to many restaurants. Especially liked Breezes and Bites Restaurant just next door.
We have stayed in A-15 three times and will definitely rent it again the next time we get to Bonaire. The apartment is very comfortable, and we love the screened-in patio, especially for eating our breakfast each day. It's also a great location to view the beautiful sunsets. It is very convenient to the dive shop, and Bari reef is right at the property. My husband is a diver, and I'm a snorkeler, and it is a perfect place for both us. The snorkeling right outside of Sand Dollar is excellent. I saw three different octopus, eels, and lots of other fish. The dive shop at Den Laman takes snorkelers on the dive boats, although the price is a little steep ($25). The restaurant at Den Laman, Breezes and Bites, had delicious food, and we ended up eating there four times. All in all, it was a great vacation.
We have been diving Bonaire for about ten years and have sampled quite a few accommodations and have found most of them to be great. However, we knew when we opened the door that we would want to return.
The unit is spacious and nicely decorated having everything one might need. The location and proximity to dive gear and reef made for easy last dives of the day. we started our day with a long swim right out front and often ended with a twilight/ night dive.
From coffee at the waters edge to sunsets there, the mood was relaxed.
The owner was most helpful with the booking also.
We hope to be back on Bonaire next year and probably will schedule our time around the availability of this unit.
Back in the cold. Northeast now but loving that also.
We visited from the UK for 10 days in October 2014. This condo is brilliant and has everything you could possibly want - we really couldn't think of anything to improve it. The owner (Larry) answers e-mails almost immediately (even with the time difference) and is very helpful. The ladies in the office are also very friendly and helpful.
Highly recommended - if we return to Bonaire we'll definitely be contacting Larry!
