About Buckeye Adventures
Buckeye Adventures is made up of JP, Matt, Cynthia, and Lisa -- long-time friends and (mostly) natives of Ohio, the Buckeye state (and inspiration for the name of our little partnership). We took our friendship to a new level when we decided to purchase and renovate this hidden gem of a cabin in the heart of West Virginia's George Washington National Forest. We've kept its original name -- Santi's Lost Stream -- as a nod to Santi, the man who built this classic little A-frame. While the gentle stream that runs through the foot of the property is "lost" through some of the year, it can be found during rainy season when the natural spring source decides to flow. JP and Cynthia live just a few hours drive away in Washington, DC, while Matt, Lisa, and their three boys are a bit further afar in Chicago. When we are not enjoying Santi's Lost Stream and all the Lost River area has to offer, we open up our lovely cabin for guests. We look forward to hosting you at Santi's Lost Stream cabin!

Why Buckeye Adventures chose Wardensville
We're outdoor enthusiasts always looking for the next adventure and picked the Lost River area as our landing pad for exploring wild and wonderful West Virginia.

Unique property - quiet getaway.
Staying here was such a treat. I love the house. Thoughtful hosts; incredibly peaceful setting.
Great stay in a lovely A-frame
This is a great property and was the perfect little getaway from the city for a weekend. The house was clean, full of amenities, and the host was quick to respond to any questions we had.
We were lucky to get away right before all of the craziness with COVID hit Maryland and am glad we were able to stay here. Everything was as advertised and the cabin has everything we needed. Dind't get to hit any parks or trails but the quiet roads in the area provided some nice walks and scenary.
My boyfriend and I had an amazing stay at this A-frame and decided we will make this getaway trip every year, we loved everything about it including the cute little town a few miles out.
My wife and I have a FANTASTIC few days at the beautifully renovated A-frame cabin in the woods. I would highly recommend, that said, be prepared that you are AWAY from “things” and have no cell service. You are no more than 20-30 minutes away from great wineries and grocery stores, just be prepared. :-)
David, thanks so much for staying with us. We love you enjoyed it. We also love the solace and the escape. For future guests, rest assured once you turn on wi-fi calling on your mobile device, our speedy fiber internet will allow you to call and text all you need. For grocery supplies, Kerr's supermarket is about 15 minutes away door-to-door in downtown Wardensville and has all the basics (including a good beer selection...yum!). Please come back to visit us, David!
Within easy reach of Santi's Lost Stream are a wide array of trails that offer both gentle walks and serious hikes through the wilds and wonder of the George Washington National Forest and neighboring Lost River State Park. A popular spot is Trout Pond recreation area, a short 10-minute drive away, and offers scenic walking trails, canoeing, fishing, and swimming (in warmer months). A slightly farther trek (30-minute drive) will bring you to Lost River State Park, a great spot for both the young and old(er) adventurists to enjoy.
The nearby town of Wardensville offers several shopping and dining options. Make a stop at the Lost River Trading Post to stock up on craft brews and local wine, and peruse their impressive selection of local products and amazingly curated antiques and curios. On the weekend, pay a visit the Garden Market and Bakery to enjoy some of their farm-fresh produce and delicious baked goods. (Our favorite is the Cowboy Cookie!) Pop into Ripples in Time, a precious little antique shop, to hunt some their hidden treasures.
The quaint village of Lost River (15-minute drive from the cabin) offers a few dining and shopping options, as well. Enjoy local produce, ice cream, and gifts at the Lost River General Store or grab a bite to eat at the Lost River Grill. And if you seeking a relaxation and wellness experience, book a session at the Lost River Yoga Studio.
The popular Guesthouse Kitchen & Bar just outside Lost River (12-minute drive from cabin) is a great spot to enjoy a lovely meal after a long day out adventuring. This locally-owned and operated staple of Lost River establishment offers farmhouse style, American inspired dishes, and libations in a comfortable modern farmhouse setting. Highly recommend booking in advance.
A bit further a far from Wardensville and the Lost River Valley, there are a range of activities including hiking, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, hunting, and seasonal skiing to enjoy.
