About David Comerford

Hi, I have owned a vacation home for the past 28 years. I enjoy having my son and our friends share our lovely home with us. We are outdoor enthusiasts. We love to ski, raft, hike, swim etc.. Friends love to join us at the sandy river ski house for fun, relaxation, sitting around the fire and in the kitchen making yummy meals.

David Comerford purchased this house in 2006

Why David Comerford chose Mount Hood

It is next to the river (200') with easy access to all the fun stuff to do on mount hood. Just a short 50 minute ride from Portland and we can be sitting on the porch sipping tea and listening to the sounds of the river through the large fir trees.

Just what we needed

  • 5 of 5

We spent 4 nights in this wonderful home on the Sandy river. Skiing was the goal, but it was too warm and wet, so we ended up spending most of our time at the house. David, the owner, is a great guy; really warm and welcoming. He was helpful, flexible, and a pleasure to deal with. The house itself was clean, well-maintained, and larger than it looked on the site. I imagine it would be great for a family or larger group. The kitchen was well-appointed, there was plenty of firewood, and my dog even found a neighbor dog to play with. All in all, a great place to stay. We will go back.

The house had a bad odor when we entered. Some of the words to describe the odor, not clean.

  • 3 of 5

First there was a bad odor in the house, live mouse in the trash container under sink. Carpets stained and dingy, doesn't feel clean, no cable tv, dirty dishes left in dishwasher. There is another mouse because it nibbled on potatoes in bag on floor. Ants in master bath. Unreasonable to expect guest to wash, dry and put away all sheets and towels on the day of departure. We stripped all sheets and started a load before we left at 8 AM. Also, would suggest white sheets and towels so that bleach can be used between uses of different guests. Also suggest to have clean sheets on bed for guests. It makes wonder how many guests fold up sheets because they have no time. A extra roll of paper towels would be wise for minor clean up.

Comfortable home and close to the ski hill!

  • 5 of 5

This home is a wonderful place to stay for a ski vacation. It is spacious with the master bedroom on one end of the house, and there are another two rooms on the other side. The house is well kept and clean, and the owner is very responsive to any request. He will call the renters to be sure they got into the house ok and that they have everything they need. The property has a wonderful sitting porch with a table so that you can eat outside, and also has a path that leads directly to the river. It is a great place for dogs with plenty of room inside and outside (they can run by the river). The house is at a great location for skiers, and it took about 15 minutes to arrive at Skibowl, and 30 minutes to get to Timberline. The house has a full kitchen, washer, dryer, and large drying rack for ski clothes to dry out on. There are several cozy couches and the option to use a wood burning stove. The house is only a few miles within good places to eat and get a coffee. Overall, I highly recommend staying at the Sandy River Ski House and we will be staying there again soon.

Excellant place to stay no matter what the weather gives you.

  • 5 of 5

The house is clean, spacious and it feels like you are home with a kitchen that is well stocked with cook ware.

It is conveniently located to a grocery store, restaurants and a multitude of outdoor recreational opportunities (skiing 12 miles and directions at the house to many of the close by hiking trails). A short path from the house leads to the Sandy river. If the weather turns you inside there are lots of games and books to choose from including an entertainment center with a wide selection of movies to choose from.

The house is in a quiet forested setting with easy access to highway 26 (no highway noise). It is pet friendly and the owner is easy to get along with.

Convenient location from airport and to all mountain adventures. The house and grounds were immaculate. We felt comfortable and cozy during our stay. Spacious home with all amenities (fireplace, well stocked kitchen, wonderful outdoor space, just to name a few.) Owner David was very helpful with tips on how to enjoy the area better. We have recommended the home to our family and friends and planning a return visit in the very near future.
