Property type house

Overview

About the property

4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps up to 8

Why stay in a condominium or hotel when you can have your own private beach house with pool and heated spa? This house, owned by author and Realtor Julie Compton and her husband Rick, is located in Daytona Beach Shores, close enough (5 minutes by car) to the heart of Daytona to enjoy all of the attractions, yet far enough to escape the crowds. You can walk to the beach, a mere block and a half away, or drive your car right onto the sand if you prefer. A park with a playground, tennis court, and fitness trail is at the end of the street, and a block away on the river side is the perfect spot to watch the sunsets.

The house is close to everything the area has to offer: the beach, the river, a water park, Daytona Beach Pier, Daytona International Speedway, miniature golf, shopping, restaurants, turtle sanctuary, Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, and much more. For those who can't imagine Florida without Disney, the house is only a short drive (60-75 minutes) from Orlando and all of its numerous attractions: Disney World, Universal Studios, Seaworld, etc. The Kennedy Space Center is less than an hour away, and only 25 minutes away is Blue Springs State Park, where you can see the manatees.

The house itself is adorable, bright and clean. It has four bedrooms: three with queen beds, and one with a twin and pop-up trundle (which can be used as two twins, or put together to make a king). The fourth bedroom and second bath is in a separate building, perfect for a bit of extra privacy. The pool has a heated spa* and an outdoor shower - perfect to relax in after a day at the beach.

(*additional charges apply for pool heat, please inquire)

About Julie Compton

Julie and Rick Compton are native Midwesterners, but since leaving the heartland they've lived in various spots along the East coast. Though for years they traveled to Florida for vacations, it wasn't until Rick accepted a job near Orlando that they became regular beachcombers. After a number of Saturdays at the beach where they bemoaned the drive home and wished they had a place nearer the ocean to call their own, they took the plunge and decided to buy a beach getaway. They bought the beach house in the spring of 2005, and Julie spent several months painting and decorating as the pool was built. The first rental was in the fall of that same year. As an author, Julie spent many days at the house writing, and the whole family used the house for vacations throughout the year. A little over a year ago, they were lucky enough to buy another home for themselves and finally move to the beach permanently. They continue to rent this property, and hope their guests get as much enjoyment from being there as they did!

Julie Compton purchased this house in 2005

Why Julie Compton chose Florida Central Atlantic Coast

The house is a short drive from the Daytona International Speedway, for which -- in addition to the wide, soft sandy beaches -- Daytona is famous. It's conveniently located for vacationers who come for the Daytona 500 Race, or for the many bikers who arrive for Bike Week in the spring or Biketoberfest in the fall. Two blocks to the east is the beach; a block to the west is the river, with its magnificent sunsets. A few miles north of the house is the Daytona Pier and Main Street; a few miles south is the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse and a turtle sanctuary. The numerous Orlando attractions are close enough for vacationers to visit on day trips. The Comptons chose to buy a house in Daytona because it was one of the closest beaches to their former permanent home near Orlando, and they also have many wonderful memories of the area from their college days, when they were 'spring breakers' themselves!

What makes this house unique

There's nothing like coming home from a day at the beach to your own private spot with pool and spa . . .

This home exceeded our expectations. The pictures do not do it justice!

  • 5 of 5

Myself and my two grown children, son-in-law, and 2 1/2 year old grandson stayed for 1 week. We loved the house. All our needs were met. Pool toys, sand toys, beach chairs, cart for carrying things to beach, ice-chest, beach towel, fully stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, separate guest house worked perfect for older son. Just a 2 block walk to beach, quiet neighborhood, convenient location. Pool and hot tub nice to relax around while grilling out. Julie is a wonderful host and was available for any questions/requests very quickly. We visited several springs a short drive (1 hour - 1 1/2 hour) away (Blue Spring and Alexander Springs) which were beautiful. The water was very cold, but once in, it felt great. We even got to swim with the Manatee's at Blue Spring! Great family trip with great memories made!

Amazing Week on the Beach

  • 5 of 5

We arrived to a clean home greeted by some snacks, wine and a birthday balloon. Such a sweet surprise. It was an easy walk to the beach everyday with plenty of beach chairs and toys in the shed for us to use. We loved the location. So close to the playground and grocery store.

The bedrooms were perfect for 5 adults and 3 kids. Would definitely book this house again.

Life's a Beach was Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

It was amazing!!!!!! We all had a great time a the beach house along with all the attractions. Thanks you for all the snacks and soft drinks. We really enjoyed the pool and all the toys for the pool and the beach. It was very clean and very well maintained. Julie was great!!! The board walk, Bubba Gump's, the light house was great along with the walks on the beach at night. I will recommend this beach house to anyone that is looking for a very nice place to stay. As a thank you, we also left behind a pack of 32 waters, a big package of gravy mix, laundry detergent, fabric softener and a few others things for other guest to enjoy. We will differently be back to enjoy the house and attractions again next year. THANK YOU!!!!!
